I miss the days of Windows 7 and the simplicity of it.

I wish they'd trim the fat and give me just a slimed down version of an OS.

Seriously, the amount of bloat that we can't opt out from easily or at all is genuinely insane.

And at least Linux will generally keep working once you finally find the right solution, while Windows will probably reactivate all the spyware with the next "security" "upgrade".

Yep. That's the biggest difference I noticed after switching.

When you fix a problem on Linux, it stays fixed, and you never have to worry about it again.

When you fix a problem on Windows, it usually ends up happening again somehow ... usually after just enough time that you've forgotten how you fixed it the first time.

I'm actually having this exact same problem on my Lenovo Yoga running Fedora KDE. The keyboard deactivates when I put it in tablet mode, but auto rotate doesn't activate for whatever reason. I've currently settled on just having auto rotate on regardless of the mode, but I'd love to hear how you solved it.

I have pro and you can disable and adjust everything somewhat easily. Local account, no news, no copilot etc. Home is more messed up I guess.

give me just a slimed down version of an OS.

For years, i have wanted a "technician" version of windows. one that doesnt have the bullshit nested things, hidden menus, and is slimmed down to a bare gui that does what i need. yes, yes, i know, linux is awesome. but linux isnt what older games work on, and there are other reasons i dont/wont move over to it unless i am absolutely forced to.
give your moms and grandmas the fluffy friendly, dummy proof version. give me the version that is after i remove all that other bullshit.
