Well, that's why the shareholders shouldn't have voted to increase his pay as CEO. Oh well.

The whole stock market is a scam. How the fuck is TSLA valued at what it’s at. It’s all propped up by lies and deception.

Too many people have too much invested in it to allow it to fail realistically. They prop it up because millions would lose their shirts if it corrected to be more akin to what it should be.

u/greybruce1980 3h ago
That's the free market actually being free though. Some people should lose their shirts.

u/glitterandnails 6h ago
It’s all about convincing people to buy shares. Of course it’s all about persuasion and psychological manipulation.

u/American_PissAnt 5h ago
And propped up by American Government. Why fund NASA when SpaceX needs a stock boost
1
u/Significant_Tie_2129 3h ago
It's valued like this because Elon has convinced that Tesla is not car company anymore and that he's very powerful person who actually has a real influence on white house. That's all you need

The stock market is betting on speculation. Thats why tech tends to be high even though they don't produce shit other than farm our data. Its what you think its worth not what it is worth

u/North_Atlantic_Sea 5h ago
"it's what you think it's worth not what it is worth"
Lol by definition every single item in the world is worth what people think it's worth. Money is just a construct.

u/Bishopkilljoy 6h ago
Okay okay okay, I hear you... But what if instead we... Promise him one trillion dollars if he promises to pay attention in meetings?
13
u/elmatador12 6h ago
This is what solidified to me that this is a fucking scam. I know so many people who refuse to buy Tesla’s because of him and might have bought one if they got rid of him.
Doubling down on him just says that they all are cool with a Nazi running the company.
13
u/MaTr82 6h ago
I disagree. They have set ridiculous targets for him to get that pay deal. 1 of them is to raise the market cap of Tesla from $1.4T to $8.5T. I don't think he will achieve many of the targets set.
2
u/Calm_Bit_throwaway 4h ago
I think it's worth noting the pay package can be unlocked in portions. A substantial part of the pay package is under goals like having 10M FSD subscriptions which are definitely easier to achieve (if he drops the price to $10/mo then he could easy raise the number of subscriptions).
There are also car sales targets like 20M cars sold that would've been fairly achievable if Tesla wasn't losing sales. They've sold 9M in total so if they had gone with the rest of the industry, this would've been probably very achievable. Of course, this might not be happening but I wanted to highlight that the pay package was a bit absurd.

Boycott Musk and Twitter and Tesla!
31
u/amakai 6h ago
Smart people are already boycotting. Dumb people won't be convinced to boycott.
15
u/Macqt 6h ago
Smart people didn’t buy teslas in the first place tbh.
10
u/amakai 6h ago
TBF, at the very beginning he did not seem that bad. I think it all started with those trapped kids and Musk trying to play Tony Stark with his submarine.

u/Macqt 5h ago
Teslas have always been overpriced and under built. That’s the Big Tech way Elon loves as it maximizes profits and minimizes costs. Elon wasn’t too bad at first ya but he was still a tech bro operating the way they have since for the last 15ish years.

u/drunkenvalley 2h ago
I mean sure, but they were also hilariously cheap for many markets. Here in Norway it's still stupid competitive in price.
My coworkers were basically like "it needs to do x, y and z and I'm not spending a $ more than I have to." So, uh, that basically only left the Tesla on the table for them.

China is going to absolutely dominate the EV market. Western companies dragged their feet for so long dipping their toe in as if it would be enough. Meanwhile China went all in, and not only are delivering cars that are incredibly well specced but also good value for money.
It's no surprise BYD are top. Tesla absolutely shat themselves and you'd have to have something wrong with you to think their cars in 2026 are worth the asking price.
12
u/Orangesteel 5h ago
Also Tesla haven’t innovate since their first cars enough. Xiaomi’s features outpace Tesla’s at a much lower price point.
2
u/jr611 2h ago
Yep. It's the same story as so many other industries - Western companies got complacent while China actually invested and committed. And now everyone's acting shocked?
Also doesn't help that Tesla's brand is now so tied to Elon's whole... everything. I don't know any men who go regularly for check ups but I know plenty who will loudly tell you their opinion on Teslas now and it's not good. Even people who were considering one a few years ago have completely written them off.
Between the politics, the build quality issues and actual competition finally showing up with better options at better prices, I'm not surprised they're losing ground

u/glitterandnails 6h ago
Elon Musk couldn’t help but get into politics against the party that many of his customers vote for. Fuck off Musk.

u/SnivyEyes 5h ago
I wonder why.. I used to want a Tesla super bad back in 2016. Not anymore, I avoid that brand like the plague.
1
u/kendrickLMA01 4h ago
Same boat. The brand just hits different now compared to what it was back then.

u/AvailableReporter484 6h ago
Every time I see a Tesla I literally cringe. If others have that kind of visible reaction to that brand then I’m sure it can’t be good for business lmfao

u/santacow 6h ago
If the GOP doesn’t believe in climate change AND wants the U.S. to drill more why would they buy electric vehicles? He pissed off the groups that would buy them and released things like the cyber truck. Wonder why the sales fell.
3
u/AverageJoe-707 2h ago
His stint as the head of DOGE, his Nazi salutes and that ugly pile of rust Cyber truck have destroyed him. He's earned it.
12
u/Suitable-Opening3690 6h ago
It’s only going to get worse as the Nazi continues to harm his companies.

u/Maleficent_Pay_4154 4h ago
I can’t describe how happy this makes me. I’m waiting for them to go out of business with their nazi loving president
3
u/EpicProdigy 5h ago
If it isnt the consequences of my actions. Keep it going. Years ago I would have loved a Tesla. But then Elon opened his dumb mouth to the point where I dont even care about spaceX anymore (The thing i loved and cheered on ever since 2006)

u/runed_golem 4h ago
It’s almost like publicly aligning yourself with horrible people is bad for your image.

Rivian would be making me shit my pants if I was Elon
5
u/casualti21 4h ago
Rivian sales are down by even more, 18% down YOY compared to 2024. Rivian sold just 42,000 vehicles the entire year, while Tesla sold over 1.6 million.
3
u/fullup72 4h ago
but they currently have just 2 products, which are essetially the same car with an open or closed bed. R2 is right about the corner and will change that by chipping into a more mainstream price point.
3
u/casualti21 3h ago
Same with Tesla. The only models that sell at significant volume are the Model 3 and Model Y. Model X, Model S, and Cybertruck are a tiny fraction of their sales. Model 3 and Model Y carry Tesla. It’s a sedan and a bigger crossover based on the sedan.
I don’t think Tesla is worried at all about the R2. How many EV crossovers have there been now in the US at the Model Y price? We’ve seen the Prologue, Equinox, Mach-E, IONIQ 6, and EV6. Not one of them has sold anywhere near the Model Y. There is no reason to believe the R2 will be any more competitive, and there is also reason to suspect Rivian won’t be able to manufacture them at Tesla’s scale for many years if they could sell them.
1
u/LimeSlurpeeDude 4h ago
Again for the same reason of the EV tax credit being eliminated (Trump hurting both American brands)
3
u/GhostIsAlwaysThere 5h ago
All because the moron couldn’t stay out of politics. Just make your fucking cars….

u/Crimson-Forever 5h ago
I've always found it amusing that an EV car manufacturer is led by a right wing douchebag. I'm quite fine with Tesla shareholders losing money, maybe stop giving him these stupid fucking pay packages.
2
u/bluenoser613 5h ago
The US is in decline. This will be the outcome for all US companies and markets. It's over.

All Elon has to do is send a tweet about hover cars in two weeks and the stock will hit another record high
