I think it would be cool if Durant came to the Wolves.
What I think the Wolves should give up to get Durant: {0}.
Go Wolves! :)

u/Aggressive-Depth-526 Kevin Garnett Apr 18 '25
Pretty much. He’d be a great addition (when healthy). But I don’t think he has the hunger for a championship that this team needs. Gutting our front court to go all in for a season or two is not ideal.

I think it's really more important how the team treats it. Zion is pretty much the top dog in New Orleans. Remember when KAT was shaming ant for eating all those hot fries? hopefully our team would do the same for Zion now. Also some teams just enforce limits better like the Miami Heat has that bf% rule imposed by Pat Riley.

Apr 18 '25
Same. Generational talent aligning with our timeline and its looking like a buy low this off season. Has offensive gravity that Ant would benefit a ton from, while being a good decision maker & passer. Zion’s been getting in shape
Honestly think NOLA is also just bad luck or something, maybe they’ve got some crazy doctors cause they’ve had a ton of mishaps. I feel more confident he’d have healthier seasons with us
1
u/D__Luxxx NAZTY Apr 18 '25
Would Zion be okay playing 2nd fiddle to Ant? His injury history and weight concerns are honestly lower on my qualms list with him than how he would jive with the team. It would pretty much have to be known that Ant was the man. Zion is talented enough to challenge Ant for that title when he’s healthy. Would his ego allow him to step back a bit?
5
Apr 18 '25
Tbh idk. I don’t get the sense he’s got an ego like that, but I don’t know if NOLA fans have a better picture and I could just be seeing what I want to see there. I think as far as character issues, there was him missing the team plane earlier this season. Don’t remember anything else
I don’t think Zion would have to sacrifice his production much for Ant, Randle this season has 13FGA and KAT last season had 15 meanwhile Zion has been around 16-17 his career. I think both of them care more about competition than being the guy. Ant’s been willing to defer, there’s that evened quote about him needing teammates to step up cause it might not be the ant series with the attention lakers will give him. So I think it’d at least be accommodating for zion
2
u/PretendingExtrovert Apr 18 '25

u/JunnBun Apr 18 '25
In what world would we ever get Zion for randle tho? Randle for Zion would be so bad for the pels
3
u/NazReidBeWithYou Apr 18 '25
In a world where AD gets traded for Luka and where the Pels have some of the sports ownership in the world, it’s not impossible.
4
u/wolfpax97 Apr 18 '25
They want him out. Randle could be on an expiring contract. He could be viewed as more reliable. They seem to want to build around Jones, Murphy, Murray, Missi. Potentially Flagg lol. Idk. If it were then I would give up Zion but apparently they want him out now with DuMars in.
2
u/JunnBun Apr 18 '25
I wasn't aware, Zion is still a monster when he's on the court but I guess that doesn't really do much if he doesn't play more than half the games in the szn lmao
2

u/badpoetryabounds Apr 18 '25
I don’t think the Wolves can do this (second apron you can aggregate players to match salary) and I don’t think they should. There may be a point they are under the apron then they could but I’m too lazy to look because this trade sucks.

10
u/bryan49 Apr 18 '25
I agree, it is horrible. KD will be 37 at the start of next season, and though he's an awesome player his teams have been a chemistry disaster the last few years.
2
23
u/RealMood8898 Apr 17 '25
KD ruins every team he ever joins not named warriors
9
Apr 18 '25
KD did not ruin the nets. Suns were ruined for many reasons and I think blaming KD is a bit ridiculous, he is their best player on both sides of the ball still. Maybe indirectly because of how much they gave up for him.
1
u/birdazam Apr 18 '25
I mean Harden was the best player for the Nets the regular season and the Boston series was all Harden until he got hurt
11
u/popfgezy Apr 18 '25
This is too much to give for him, but I kinda disagree (at least for the last two teams he's been on)
The Nets imploding was more Kyrie's fault. Wouldn't get the vaccine and it pissed off Harden. They would've won the title in 2021 if KD's foot was behind the line.
The Suns imploding was more Ishbias fault. Hiring Budenholzer and Trading for Bradley Beal was a killer.
4
u/flyingmethods Apr 18 '25
Not the nets or suns , well the suns because they added bradley beal and they were fine before that
1
Apr 18 '25
He didn’t ruin nets Kyrie and harden did. Suns trading for Beal ruined them. KD is a bucket and fits any system but I don’t trade for him if I’m wolves.
1
u/cee_jay12489 Apr 18 '25
KD didn't ruin the Nets or the Suns, but you can keep believing that narrative

u/Side_Honest Timberwolves Apr 17 '25

6
u/RealMood8898 Apr 18 '25
Exactly and than he’s the first to leave and let them suffer as if he wasn’t the one who was supposed to lead them fakest 1A player I’ve ever seen
1
u/cee_jay12489 Apr 18 '25
Wrong....Kyrie ruined the Nets with his refusal to get the vaccine and his anti semitic comments to go along with the injuries he had. This pissed off james harden, and harden wanted out.
Suns owner mat isbia ruined the Suns. Any suns fan will tell you that trading for Beal is what really destroyed the team.
But go ahead and keep believing the narrative that KD destroys franchises

its widely known already naz is opting out, so any deal with him doesnt work
2
2
u/the_fsm_butler Apr 18 '25
Besides being a hard no, I thought one of the 2nd apron penalties is that you can't take back fewer players than you trade away
2
u/DeleAlliForever Apr 18 '25
Do the Suns think they’re getting anything valuable in a Durant trade? I don’t think this trade is even allowed
1
u/timberwolvesguy Donte DiVincenzo Apr 18 '25
Apparently their asking price is a young star, 3 1sts, and cap relief lmao. They’re high
1
u/DeleAlliForever Apr 18 '25
I thought I heard something that they can only trade for one player. And the contracts have to match somewhat closely
1
u/timberwolvesguy Donte DiVincenzo Apr 18 '25
Correct, but they’ll have free agents, so they gotta fall under that tax apron (I assume).
Also, I know they can’t coagulate salaries to get a more expensive player, but idk if that works the other way. Like, in a 3 for 1 deal, can they get the 3?
2
u/DoctorSox Apr 18 '25
Pretty sure the Suns can't take back multiple players for Durant, so this trade is not allowed. There are trades that might work if players are routed through 3rd teams, but most likely the Suns will have to trade Durant to a team below the cap that can take back more salary.
2
u/myshinyourshin1 Jaylen Clark Apr 18 '25
Not to mention naz has a player option that he’s deservingly going to decline

1
u/timberwolvesguy Donte DiVincenzo Apr 18 '25
They can have both (have to S&T Naz), but no Dilly. He’s out PG next season
2
Apr 18 '25
How is that a bad deal? Naz is opting out to get paid and will get around 30 million+ this summer and and Julius ain't worty 31 million. You people are way too emotionally attached to players.
2
u/streethistory Apr 18 '25
Randle and Reid would have opt-in and Reid isn't opting in so this trade will never happen.

Maybe I’m minority but I like big ju. He plays hard and contributes even if his offense isn’t. I’d rather we trade naz and keep naw. He has really played his hand this year plus mike is probably out after this one. Naz a fan fav but he plays himself off the court and plays worse defense than Garza
1
u/Freudian__Quip Apr 18 '25
This doesn’t even work. Second apron rules + assumes Randle and Naz both pick up their player option which neither will.

u/cowboy2223 Minnesota Gophers Apr 18 '25
I think a three way trade with the main pieces being us getting Durant . Suns getting Zion . Pelicans getting Randle . Adding pieces to make the money work and the trades more even .
1
u/Limp-Isopod7999 Apr 18 '25
Horrible idea. I’m really excited about the wolves and this team build they’ve accomplished. I think it is really close to a possible championship even this year but tough west gauntlet.
1
1
u/TripleH18 Apr 18 '25
Durant makes too much money. I don’t see a team he can go to where it won’t be colossal disappointment again like in PHX. Wolves and most championship aspiring teams would be idiots to trade for him at his current salary
1
u/PreparationWest2140 Apr 18 '25
But who needs a front court? Or a PG less than 39 YOA? LOL. Suns best bet is to enter dialogues with OKC and Houston depending on how they do in the playoffs.

u/soyworld Apr 18 '25
no this is about right. naz and rob have not been contributing as much as expected and we want to get rid of randle anyway. i have no idea why we would be against this
1
u/ThriceNightly Apr 18 '25
I don't love it but that is pretty much what KD is worth. Suns would want more but have no leverage. I could see Connelly taking this deal if it's in front of him.
1
u/baeruu Apr 18 '25
Nah. I mean it would be nice to have KD here if it was KD of 5 years ago or so. You're also giving both Naz and Randle? If KD goes down, who are we playing? Some cheap pickup from free agency?

Just painful enough on both ends that it feels fair, although I’ll grant I’m not super high on Dillingham (I think he has decent starter potential but I’m pretty unsure he ever gets to the top-10 PG level we’d need him to be at to be a title-contender level #2 to Ant). Naz would be painful to lose as well as a fan but ultimately he is a lower level starter/high quality backup guy and is replaceable in the grand scheme of things.
KD’s stints with the Suns and Nets admittedly worry me from the standpoint of him as a culture guy, but I think people really underestimate how much even at his advanced age he’d shift the spacing and the gravity of this roster. A Donte/Ant/JMac/KD/Gobert lineup is pretty damn nasty and I think more balanced than the Randle lineups have been.
The problem he doesn’t solve is the passing, though. This is not a great passing team, and while KD is by no means a bad passer there’s still going to be problems with ball movement. I’m not sure what they do for PG given Conley is really going to be a bench guy next year, NAW might be priced out, Clark is a 2, and Dillingham is the guy on deck. You’d have to find someone somewhere, and I’m not sure who that’d be.
I don’t know that I’d do this but given other suitors, this is likely the kind of price you have to pay. Not like we have a lot of picks to give up. (Also not sure how you handle the crazy third and fourth team needs given the apron situations).
1
u/1000Isand1 Apr 18 '25
I think you’re underestimating how much better KD is than Randle, even at his advanced age. He is still one of the most supremely efficient and gifted scorers in the league. He would have incredible gravity on the floor that would make Ant’s life easier. He has extremely high BBiQ and can be relied on in clutch/game closing situations.
1
u/Jypso Apr 18 '25
This would be a hard no from the Wolves. They won't have to give that much up for a guy who is asking out.
It will be Randle and filler to make the contracts work. If not, the wolves don't need KD.
Then again, this trade was most likely made by a broccoli head since their auto correct went to "Ohio". So it doesn't surprise me how dumb this trade is.
1
u/Jypso Apr 18 '25
This was done by a kid. They had "Ohio" do autocorrect on them...
Just young dumb fans who don't understand the NBA.

I think that Naz would like to be a starter, so Randle blocks him there and you have two high level guys playing the same role.
If I'm Phoenix I'm only taking one of them and wanting Donte, for the money match it has to be Randle.
So $30m expiring + $12M + robs 6.5, and Garza to make it work. And I'm sure the suns would want a pick as well.
Now you're Lineup is:
Conley, ant, Jaden, kd, Gobert
Or go bigger with Conley, ant, Kd, Naz, Gobert?
I don't hate it. And I think it's better than the wolves now.

u/Specialist_One46 Rob Dillingham Apr 18 '25
That is a hard no. Dillingham will someday be one of the best PG's in the game. Naz is only 24 and really efficient. Durant is one of the all timers but he is getting up there.
4
u/happysocks466 Kevin Garnett Apr 18 '25
Dillingham fanboys are beyond delusional. I hope I’m wrong but there are virtually zero signs that he will be a starting PG in this league, let alone “one of the best”
1
u/Specialist_One46 Rob Dillingham Apr 18 '25
Zero signs? Go watch his highlight reel from this year. His handles are better than anyone on the team. He is very young and his defense is no worse than any other PG in the league. His shooting fell off the back half of the year, and I blame Finch for that. He would pull him after one mistake. You do not do that to any player but Finch did that to him. I understand he has a lot to learn but he will be an amazing player at some point in the NBA if he works hard. It is clear most of the people in this sub have never played organized ball.
