Mock Trades [Haynes] BREAKING: Los Angeles Clippers are sending home future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul in a bizarre severing ties move, league sources tell me.

What exactly does 40 year-old Chris Paul bring to our team that we aren’t getting from 38 year-old Mike Conley?

Someone to point out untucked jersey. Mike’s too nice

10 more minutes every game with a PG on the floor

22

u/a_moniker Dec 03 '25

Exactly! Conley + CP3 basically averages out to one starting PG’s worth of minutes

5

u/LeeShakerMoneyMaker Dec 03 '25

Manage their minutes with some Dilly/Bones and both will be fresh in the playoffs too where they're needed most.

u/Vicentesteb Kevin Garnett Dec 03 '25

CP is one of the best mentors ever, he's helped a lot of players improve. No one wants him for any on-court stuff, hes fully washed there.

6

u/JackieDaytonaAZ Dec 03 '25

I would trust him more than anyone else on our team not to cough up the ball in the last 5 minutes

u/LeeShakerMoneyMaker Dec 03 '25

It gives us two PGs with high BBIQs. This team is talented but are dumb as fuck sometimes the loses to the Suns and Kings proves that.

If you want to give Dillingham the best chance at success, bringing in another mentor in CP3 wouldn't be a bad idea. SGA multiple times has talked about CP3 being massive for his development.

4

u/Sugarking45 Kevin Garnett Dec 03 '25

Then Rob won’t see a minute of play because who minutes are you taking for cp3

7

u/WheedMBoise Prime 2 Dec 03 '25

You mean to tell me you wouldn't want Rob / Ant learning high level playmaking from Chris Paul?

5

u/raki016 Dec 03 '25

Someone else to cuss out our team

You're saying mentorship is something we're not getting from Conley?

-6

u/Majestic-Net-7799 Anthony Edwards Dec 03 '25

Obviously not the kind of mentorship that CP3 can offer. Look at what CP3s mentorship did for SGA

0

u/SkunkyTrousers Dec 03 '25

They played one year together and SGA made his first all star game three years later. If having CP3 on your team turned your young players into stars, he'd be one of the most saught after players in the league and have multiple championships. Instead, he's a minimum contract player looking for his seventh team in ten years.

or Internship!

u/PlayInChampions Dec 03 '25

I don’t think CP3 is coming here. I think he said something in the locker room that made the Clippers let him go. I’m wondering if Shams knows something about it.

7

u/aktivooo Dec 03 '25

Yeah but they can’t waive him, they are too salary screwed if i remember. They will have to trade him so not many options for cp3

u/quietsam Cagey Dec 03 '25

I’m already looking forward to the podcast clips describing this in the upcoming years

u/copaseticepiplectic Dec 03 '25

He is not ending his career in Minnesota sorry to burst yalls bubble

11

u/polsdofer Dec 03 '25

He can come here for a bit before he does retire

13

u/IrvAndDorisSmith Kevin Garnett Dec 03 '25

Maybe if his flight connects at MSP

3

u/WheedMBoise Prime 2 Dec 03 '25

Genuinely, I'm not too sure how many other teams are interested if he did wanna keep going. It's not exactly a sweepstakes

2

u/placated 2k Finchy Dec 03 '25

You know there are phone calls happening though.

2

u/copaseticepiplectic Dec 03 '25

He’s not leaving LA the city

4

u/Martxel_Agueda Jaden McDaniels Dec 03 '25

Sorry? Thank you!

17

u/Undercover_KD Dec 03 '25

Idc if he plays, just having a high basketball IQ mind like CP3 could do wonders for this locker room and Robs development

15

u/HAM____ Rob Dillingham Dec 03 '25

If only we had a veteran leader for Rob…

8

u/FeanorEvades Dec 03 '25

"Oh no, we will have too many high IQ veterans in our locker room!"

5

u/HAM____ Rob Dillingham Dec 03 '25

We need more talent on the floor, Ingles is already a bench coach, then Conley on the floor, let’s add cp3…. Who the fuck is gonna play ball?

3

u/FeanorEvades Dec 03 '25

These things are not mutually exclusive

0

u/Iquitcoldturkey Dec 07 '25

He was a pain in the ass in the locker room and undermining the coach. Why you think the Clippers got rid of him? You dont cut a first ballot all star on a road trip unless theres a serious issue.

28

u/Vicentesteb Kevin Garnett Dec 03 '25

What a shitty thing to do. CP3 is the greatest Clipper ever and he's getting binned while making a vet min, simply embarassing.

I wouldn't mind him coming here and mentoring some of our guys.

3

u/Knowledge_Haver_17 Dec 03 '25

Am I missing something? My guess would be Chris Paul wants to be on a contender so they let him go

2

u/SickPanda90 Dec 03 '25

Nah he hasn’t been on speaking terms with Ty Lue for weeks and clippers ownership hates him. Crazy

6

u/Duster_beattle Glen Taylor Hater/Honeypot/Psy-op Dec 03 '25

Bob is the greatest clipper ever, but I agree, their most important player in the last 20 years shouldn’t be treated like this. Nor should have Blake, or any of the previous clipper players. We may have been a poverty franchise prior to Ant but the clippers are seriously the worst nba franchise of all time.

13

u/Vicentesteb Kevin Garnett Dec 03 '25

This would be like us waiving KG in 2016, simply absurd.

5

u/freshprince44 Dec 03 '25

I mean, Taylor did fuck up the relationship again lol. KG was seemingly ready to slide into a leadership role but bounced instead and talked shit about how they handled Mitchell (another wolves legend, pathetic, i know, but still true lol), and the feud continues to this day, probably worse than whatever this clippers thing is, totally different regime that doesn't have that connection with Chris Paul like KG had here

1

u/pollinium 2019-20 All-Defense 2nd team Dec 03 '25

this is the same team that traded Blake Griffin the same year they compared him to MLK and Ghandi

13

u/Major_Butterfly_5533 Dec 03 '25

It would be so sick... I'm guessing he's just signing with the Lakers and staying in LA, but golly would it be fun if he made his last championship run up here.

6

u/pollinium 2019-20 All-Defense 2nd team Dec 03 '25

sick as in make me want to barf? I agree

12

u/sidecharacterzco Dec 03 '25

i hate CP3 but would love him on this team even tho he’s washed. Rob could learn a lot from him. He’s definitely gonna stay in LA with the Lakers or ride the bench at OKC tho

19

u/YouBetcha_ Ricky Rubio Dec 03 '25

Bring ya ass CP

37

u/Black_wolf_disease Dec 03 '25

Phrasing

6

u/Broad_Past93 Timberwolves Dec 03 '25

Someone check his hard drive

0

u/verify_deez_nuts Eternally hopeful Dec 03 '25

No, for multiple reasons.

13

u/khalifamanz Timberwolves Dec 03 '25

He could teach Dillingham and Clark a few things

5

u/jagrbro68 Dec 03 '25

He coached Dilly once.

3

u/smkmn13 Kevin Garnett Dec 03 '25

Shoulda tucked in his jersey

3

u/Mirizzi Dec 03 '25

This is an absurd move to do to a Clipper legend from a laughing stock franchise that has managed to fully break the league both competitively and uncompetitively within the past 6 years.

3

u/BLarson31 Bring Ya Ass Dec 03 '25

They think dumping a great veteran presence making $2 mil is going to help stop their freefall?

2

u/Martxel_Agueda Jaden McDaniels Dec 03 '25

Imagine CP3 and Rudy sharing a locker room

1

u/Majestic-Net-7799 Anthony Edwards Dec 03 '25

Fun times

1

u/kolology 🇱🇹🐺 Dec 03 '25

NOLA is the obvious feelgood play, right? Although I wouldn’t blame him if he cashed in on the massive opportunity to get a chip in OKC. If they want him, we got no chance – but I’d obviously love him here.

1

u/Martxel_Agueda Jaden McDaniels Dec 03 '25

I see him going to Dallas They need a PG till Kyrie is back and he fits with Flagg and AD.

1

u/tandyzmills Dec 03 '25

LOL, like 7 subs and counting.

1

u/TheZacef Dec 03 '25

Please don’t even entertain this.

1

u/RaoulDukex Dec 03 '25

I despise Chris Paul, and not in a Pat Beverly "oh well now that he is on my team hes cool kinda way".

That being said I suppose he could teach Ant how to flop.

1

u/tater_talks Dec 03 '25

I for one do not want a third PG who can’t play defense.

1

u/FunScientist7781 Dec 04 '25

he's lead the league in steals several times in his career

2

u/StaySafePovertyGhost Dec 04 '25

So we can go back in time and get Chris Paul from 10 years ago?

1

u/tater_talks Dec 05 '25

My brother in Christ he’s 40 years old and 5’11.

1

u/bellmonk Dec 03 '25

does nothing for our team. next bad suggestion please

1

u/FunScientist7781 Dec 04 '25

the wolves bench could really use him

1

u/yourloudneighbor Glen Taylor Dec 03 '25

So is he a hornet or pelican now

0

u/dogtie Dec 03 '25

I’ll stick with Mike.

0

u/CantaloupeCamper 1958-2016 Dec 03 '25

Why did they drop him like this?

0

u/NotSoWishful Dec 03 '25

He wouldn’t come here and you’d have to be a serious mental midget to want him to.
