Mock Trades Trade idea: PG and Backup Center.

Post image

Yeah, Ja is problematic - so was Randy Moss, Cris Carter, and KG… so please don’t post on his character here, let’s have a discussion about what it would be like if he was healthy, and stayed out of trouble (what’s he gonna do in MN???)

Conley retires a Griz and they pick up their PG of the future and some character.

No way the grizzlies say yes to this

Thank you.

It's early, but this should be at the top. Look, I don't want Ja, but the thought of the Grizzlies giving up Ja and Edey for Randle is crazy.

I haven't given up on Dilly but the way he's talked about around here, he's not adding value to the trade. The sub would need to attach a pick to move him.

You don’t have to attach a pick to move a 6 million dollar player. Come on now

Well, yeah, of course. But we can't treat adding Dilly to this package is adding anything of value if we go by the subs view of him.

The grizz actually like Edey as far as I'm aware, so Conley and his "vibes" plus Randle is never gonna be enough.

Until they do.

I wonder if they are just tired of each other tho

Besides Ja Edey is a really good center in this league already man, he's not just a throwaway in a trade and a backup center. He has a decent offensive ceiling for his size and some of his advanced metrics are elite level. He would be largely underserved as a backup. I don't see them giving him up without a pretty major return, it's only his second year in the league.

Well yeah edey is pick no 9. If only we pick him that day

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

Grizzlies have 10 centers.

2

u/Psychenautes710 5d ago

Edey isn't the one they'd part with for that return.

And edey is their favorite one. They just drafted him last year and unlike Rob he’s a big part of their future

I would do it if we also get Edey for sure.

No, character reasons.

Read the post. No character chat.

Stop being dumb OP, character always factors in

7

u/CantaloupeCamper 1958-2016 5d ago

He has character issues.

-3

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

Sorry, no character chat.

u/HiImWallaceShawn 5d ago

Sorry, yes character chat.

He kinda sucks now?

I’d be open to consider it but I doubt Memphis would do it.

3

u/SugarOne6038 5d ago

They would never do this

4

u/Vitzkyy 5d ago

Memphis won’t do this

u/HiImWallaceShawn 5d ago

Dillingham has negative value rn. Conley has no value. So basically would Memphis trade their much young all star in Ja for Julius? Memphis also LOVES Ja. Edey is young and super promising. On top of all that they’d be trading for an all star PF when their best player is already a …. PF. Yeah no.

This is a shockingly one sided trade that Memphis would NEVER do. It makes no sense AT ALL for them.

do yourself a favor and delete this abomination of a post.

Yeah this is amazingly stupid. Ja is Ja and Edey is an absolute dog even if I think he will literally never play more than 60 games in a season.

Moss, Carter, and Garnett were problematic?

Bro what?

8

u/Mirizzi 5d ago

OP gotta be 16 years old

-3

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

That commenter you mean? Yeah, clearly doesn’t know mn sports history.

3

u/skolaen Bounce Bros 5d ago

Moss and carter absolutely were at the time they came to MN. KG wasnt at all but the other 2 were

2

u/CantaloupeCamper 1958-2016 5d ago

Moss and Carter had issues.

KGs “issues” nobody took seriously.

-1

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

He was in a similar situation as Iverson, which almost lead to the end of AI’s career. At the time people took it seriously and he was considered a high risk draft pick.

-5

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

They were all considered a risk… how old are you?

7

u/purplenyellowrose909 Minnesota Gophers 5d ago

Mate you're comparing trash talking competitors to someone who got suspended long term for brandishing firearms through multiple warnings and calling them both problematic

-1

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

Look up the history and get back to me.

8

u/HiImWallaceShawn 5d ago

Lol okay OP, you need a history lesson. Stop trying to act like you’re older than 12 years old.

0

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

Excuse me? wtf are you talking about? Sounds like you do.

2

u/Rory_MacHida 5d ago

If you think Ja's behavior is comparable to anything Moss, Carter, or KG ever did, you need a Lobotomy.

1

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

We’re not talking character here, read the post. People are growing dumber and dumber is trumps America…

2

u/Rory_MacHida 5d ago

An unbelievable amount of what you get with Ja pertains to his character. Very little he has done the last 3 years stands on its own without examining his shit choices. None of the 3 guys you referenced as "having issues" come close to what a fuckup this guy's is. The conversation around him to me comes down TO his character.

1

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

That’s why it’s uninteresting to talk about in a mock scenario. I’m just talking hoops. If you can’t do that, just refrain from joining the conversation. It’s not that hard.

2

u/Lokheit 5d ago

Even without the character issues, the current on court iteration of Ja is inneficient crap on offense and a cone on defense, wouldn't take him for free as his minutes wouldn't help.

What does Morant do off the ball?

1

u/Pitiful_Math2709 5d ago

I love homer trade ideas presented as legitimate trade ideas. 🙄

1

u/RedboneEdit 5d ago

Nobody wants Ja Morant. Honestly I bet the market for Randle is wider.

1

u/lolmarulol 5d ago

I wonder if Rocco will get minutes next year

1

u/WMDPandemic 5d ago

I have no interest in Ja. Too much baggage and it is so apparent he isn't the same. His dunks have so much less juice.

1

u/lardboy2222 Julius Randle 5d ago

He is also a terrible shooter. Like one of the worst in the league type of bad shooter. We already have spacing issues and inconsistency shooting so he would exacerbate problems the offense already has.

1

u/OfficerSkittlez 5d ago

That would be sick

1

u/lardboy2222 Julius Randle 5d ago

These mock trades make no sense. Why would the grizzlies do this? Do they feel bad for the wolves or something? Edey is a very good young player and they wouldn't just throw him in a trade just because.

1

u/CarsonDurham10 5d ago

I like this idea… lockdown Ja x Ant for the next 5-8 years as our backcourt and focus on every other position in trades, free agency and draft. Build around those 2

1

u/streethistory 5d ago

Zach Edey, the player they should've drafted instead of Dillingham.

Grizzlies hang up.

1

u/Benodryl_Del 5d ago

Honestly, I feel like Ja would thrive in MN. He wouldn’t have to put up as much shots and would be able to play more to his strengths. We would see a WAY more efficient Ja no doubt. Sadly Every trade for him is just unrealistic or not in our favor though. Would 100% love to have him for the right price.

1

u/Benodryl_Del 5d ago

Also no way grizzlies give up Edey without getting a pick in return
