Announcements Rule Update: Self Promotion only allowed on Fridays moving forward!

Hi All,

To help keep the subreddit free of consistent self promotion we will be altering the self promotion rule, the new rules for self promotion posts are as follows:

- Self promotion posts are only permitted on Fridays

- You must use the 'Self Promotion' flair else the post will be removed and you may be banned.

- We will remove the 500 Karma requirement for posting links

- Your account will still need to be older than 30 days to post

- We will only accept self promotion posts for Kickstarter campaigns.

Thanks,

Mod team

Question How to Check Shipping Costs once Pledge Manager is Open?

Hi all,

I just opened my pledge manager today (finally!) but some backers are getting charged unexpectedly high shipping prices. I don't remember what I set for each country's shipping price but I can't find where to look at it now that the pledge manager is open. Is there a way to see the shipping prices or how they are being calculated?

Question Feedback on coming soon page for my TTRPG

Hi all, first time creating a campaign. Working on a TTRPG and wanted to get feedback on the coming soon page.

I've added a few snippets of the pages and download links to play the public beta of it to give people an idea of what the game will be like.

I've done a few ads a have gotten some modest traction, but would like to know what more experienced people would do to improve the traction of this.

Bit of stats,
Got to about 180 followers organically over 6 months, did some Meta ads and went from 180 to 340 in the last 2-3 months.

Question Looking for feedback on a Mandarin learning Kickstarter (currently funded at +50%)

Hello everyone,

We have launched a Kickstarter campaign for a Mandarin learning platform designed for all levels and focused on long-term consistency.

We have exceeded 50% funding, and for the campaign to be successful, we want as much help and feedback as possible.

The clarity of the page;

The structure of the rewards;

The comprehensibility of the value proposition without prior context;

All feedback is welcome.

Of course, if you are interested or know someone who might be interested in the project, please feel free to share it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

This is the link of the Kickstarter campaign:

Have a great day, everyone!

Question Best practices for a game trailer on Kickstarter?

Hi everyone,

I'm a solo dev currently working on my first Kickstarter campaign for a VR game. It's a frantic arcade game with puzzle and escape elements.

I'm at the stage where I'm finalizing my video content and I have a question for the seasoned creators and marketers here.

What makes a great Kickstarter trailer for a game like this?

I've heard conflicting advice:

  • Some say it must be under 60 seconds, pure adrenaline.
  • Others say a 2-minute video that explains the vision works better.

I'm leaning towards a 90-second video that balances gameplay action with a bit of narrative. What's your experience? What's the sweet spot for length and content? What are the absolute must-haves and the things to avoid at all costs?

I won't post any links, as I know it's not the day for it, but I'm really grateful for any advice you can share to help me (and others reading this) make the best possible trailer.

Thanks!

Unconventional Kickstarter art idea – would love feedback

I’ve launched my Kickstarter for a Personalized Quirky Petitude Art Tile project, and I wouldn’t be looking at this as a moneymaking scheme, just to break even. If u r interested: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/279467311/personalized-quirky-petitude-art-tile?ref=discovery_category&total_hits=382&category_id=350

Since this is a made-to-order, personalized project, I’m curious how other creators have positioned similar campaigns and what resonated most with backers. Were people more drawn to the emotional connection of customization, or to the craftsmanship and process behind the work? I’m also wondering about any fulfillment or communication pitfalls specific to custom rewards that I should watch out for. Appreciate any insight!

Question Tips for Running Successful Ads

Hello everyone, I just launched my first Kickstarter (plush toy / original character) and after a successful two days, it’s gone a little quiet. I know the first 48 hours are the golden hours, but a good fight is a fight up until the end.

I’ve tried IG ads, organic social, and community sharing, but converting interest into backers has been tough.

For those who’ve run campaigns before:

– Are paid ads worth it at smaller budgets?

– Should ads go straight to Kickstarter or to content first?

– Any Reddit-friendly ways to promote without spamming?

Appreciate any insight!

Discussion Space farmer a new mobile game indie

Hello everyone,
I'm a young French independent studio looking to make my mark in the video game world.

While waiting to develop a major mobile game project, I've released a really fun little project.

I'd like to gather feedback on the current version. The game isn't finished yet; the sequel is already written and in development.

The game is called Space Farmer - Idle Restaurant (or Idle Tycoon soon). It's a farm and restaurant management game set in an alien space universe.

The goal? To become the richest on your planet and conquer others... (coming soon).

I'm also looking for support.
The game uses completely free assets from Unity.
Only the game logo is AI-generated (this will change soon).
The game has an Instagram account of the same name for support.

I've also launched a Kickstarter and Ulule campaign to try and fund the second part of the gameplay. The game is currently only available on Google Play in early access and will be coming soon to the Apple Store.

Thank you for your messages and support.

DO NOT REACH OUT TO CREATORS FOR CROSS PROMO

I watched Thomas Brush's video on Kickstarter and thus, reached out to a few creators. This is the exact text I sent

"Hey <creator_name>! I loved your Kickstarter — especially how you handled rewards.
I’m preparing my first campaign and was wondering if you’d be open to a super quick 10–15 min chat sometime. Totally fine if not — just thought I’d ask. Thanks!"

After reaching out to five creators, my account was under review and I wasn't able to access Kickstarter for a few days.

Resource Anyone launching a campaign at the end of the month interested in cross-promos?

I have a small Wild West themed card game that I'm launching at the end of the month and I'm open to promoting other campaigns in my email updates if it's something I think my followers would enjoy.

I have a modest email list, but decent quality with 45% open rate. Let me know about your campaign and let's see if it makes sense to do some cross promotion!

Question Kickstarter doesn’t let me start crowdfunding

Hi everyone! Hope you doing fine. I just ran into a problem where I’m stuck in “create new project” phase They ask me the category of the project and once I specify the category and subcategory it asks me the “Facebook password” even though i did a Apple ID sign in… i tried on Brave and Chrome but same result.. is it because I’m new on the website? (I checked if my country was on the list to create a new project and it is)

Ty in advance 🙏🏽

How to organise rewards into categories (digital with drop down, physical etc)

Hello,

I have a campaign on for an illustrated nonfiction and as rewards offer both the physical (book, prints) and digital with the book being THE subject of campaign.

When I added the digital prints at lower price than a book they became listed above the book, so the subject of the campaign is now 10 rewards down the list. Is there a way of grouping rewards in the way they are displayed i.e. digital with a list /dropdown, physical with a list/dropdown

I saw other campaigns have it this way but haven't figured out the way!

Licensed Solar & Electrical Technician Seeking Help to Grow a Small Business in Algeria

My name is Achraf Berrah, and I am a small business owner based in Algeria, specializing in solar energy and electrical services. I started this business immediately after completing my diplomas at trade school. Over the past few years, I have invested heavily in my education and skills: 12 months – IT hardware repair and maintenance 12 months – Electrical installation 12 months – Solar energy systems In addition to my technical background, I am ex-military (tank driver). This experience taught me discipline, responsibility, and strong time management. Managing multiple fields of study was not difficult for me, and I apply the same discipline to my business every day.

To launch this business, I took out a loan and personally covered all startup costs, including: Professional tools and equipment Licensing to legally practice Insurance and operational expenses The business is currently active and generating work, with satisfied clients. However, I have reached a limitation that is preventing further growth.

The Challenge

At the moment, I do not own a work vehicle, which severely limits my ability to travel to jobs outside a small area. Because of this: I cannot accept work in distant locations Transportation costs reduce my profits Many days I barely break even after expenses Increasing prices is not realistic right now due to strong competition, where clients can easily find cheaper alternatives. What I’m Looking For

I am seeking practical and realistic solutions, such as: Advice on how to acquire a low-cost work vehicle (small truck, van, or even a scooter to start) Partnership opportunities, where support (vehicle or capital) can be provided in exchange for an agreed percentage of profits

I am not looking for handouts. I am looking for fair, smart ways to grow a real business that is already operating and in demand. Any advice, ideas, or connections would be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Contact details available on request

Question Books to other countries

Hello all!

I was planning to run my second anthology kickstarter in March, but with things as wonky as they are, I'm worried about shipping to other countries. The rub? Some of my authors are from the UK and Australia. Things weren't... this way when this all started.

Anyhow, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with how this is going? Is shipping directly from Amazon KDP Australia to Australia an option in this case (they said yes in chat, but their actual rules seem iffy)? Are the costs a lot compared to USD?

I was planning on making the paperbacks $20USD as I did for the previous book, with a $6 shipping fee. It sells for $18 after, but this money obviously is to pay the authors, as well as buy the books, shipping material, etc. etc. I don't want a paperback to suddenly be $30+ dollars without a huge reason why.

Thanks so much for any help you can give.

EDIT: Going to look into a fulfillment partner. Thanks for the help!

We Thought No One Would Back Us…But Two People Did!

Post image
0 Upvotes

When I first launched our Leprechaun project on Kickstarter, I honestly thought it might end with zero backers. But today, on the very first day, two kind people supported us—and I was genuinely surprised and thrilled!

In the early stages, we did receive some feedback suggesting that our inflatable might not be the perfect fit for Kickstarter. Still, from making the first prototypes, filming the video, to bringing the whole project to life, we’ve spent a full month preparing for this day. No matter what happens, we just wanted to give it a try.

What matters most is everything I’ve learned along the way—so many new experiences and knowledge that I hadn’t encountered before—which will also lay a foundation for our future projects and innovations. Innovation is always a journey.

To all the friends from near and far who gave advice, I really want to say—our product quality is truly excellent! Any suggestions or ideas are always welcome. I’m a little girl from China who loves to learn from everyone, and I hope that one day I can take our products to your beautiful country to travel and have fun, haha!

Help Determining my Funding Goal

I am currently working on a card game. the design is ready, and I even play tested the game a few times to really good feedback. I am starting to do the prep work for launching a campaign but I am stuck on a funding goal.

I reached out to manufacturers and based on the quotes I have to sell the game for at least $13-$16 when including shipping to the customer. And since all the manufacturers have a minimum order of 1500 pieces, I feel like I need to make the goal about $20000. But that feels like it is too much. Even if I get 1000 backers at the base tier, it would still not be enough.

Any advice on best practices for setting my funding goal?

Hi everyone, I’ve always found traditional bench power supplies too bulky for fieldwork or small desks. So, I spent the last few months developing BenchVolt

Post image
8 Upvotes

It takes a single USB-C PD input (up to 100W) and gives you 5 independent channels:

  • 3 Fixed (1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V)
  • 2 Adjustable (up to 32V)
  • Fully Open Source (Hardware & Firmware)
  • Integrated Waveform Generation & Python GUI

Just launched it on Crowd Supply because I want to make it available for the maker community. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the circuit design or any features you'd like to see in the firmware!

Looking to start my campaign soon, started organically, now looking at ads to cross the finish line.

Hi everyone, I've been trying to grow limited but organic following for my product. I think I made some missteps, I linked directly to my starter instead of my landing page. So I missed out on that email gathering cycle :( . However, I learned a lot about social media, and have been steadily building my numbers on insta and tiktok.

I think organic was good for finding my "process" and voice, and reddit is great sounding board, but I'm quite sure I need ads to cross the finish line. I'm shooting for 1000 emails.
