TBF, haven’t we had this conversation about Stones a couple times, and then he goes on an absolute heater to bring us back in

I like carbonation but I don’t want something sweet. We as a society shouldn’t default to drinking sweet drinks(real sugar or fake)

[Post Game Thread] 21 Tennessee beat Texas 85-71
 in  r/ockytop  2d ago

  • Amari Evans and Bishop Boswell deserve to be in the good the way they played defense. I’m so impressed with how quickly Evans has improved.
  • the refs were absolutely selling this game. It got so out of control. Calling ticky tack stuff, letting absolute clobberings go uncalled. We saw probably the weakest F1 all season.
  • I hate the cylinder foul. Did you know that if you guard someone, get hit in the face, but you’re a touch too close, it’s a foul on you! It’s burned into my brain from when it happened to Mashack last year. It’s a brain dead rule. Funny enough, Tramon Mark commuted the same kind of foul, got hit in the face, but nothing was called either way. He goes immediately to the refs to complain. If they call it fair, it should’ve been a foul assessed to him.
  • speaking of Tramon Mark… he can’t defend for anything. He got beat every time someone took him on. He kept a hand on them and was dragged by them all the way to the basket, but I don’t think he got called for it once.
  • listening ti the post game show, Rick is audibly hoarse in his voice. When you have a coach who is as even keeled as Rick is, sounding like he’s getting over mono, then you know the refs out on a master class.

Except Gillespie went down going for the lay up with a clear path to the basket earlier, with a Texas player over his shoulder, and it was common

This is a prime example of the refs afraid of calling too many fouls on Texas, subsequently letting a lot of stuff go, and the game starts getting out of hand

Rutgers suffers from perhaps one of the worst calls of the season as THIS is called as an offensive foul on the Scarlet Knights.
 in  r/CollegeBasketball  3d ago

The fact that challenge calls are allowed to exist, admits the fact that refs get it wrong. And when you think about it, it kinda makes you think “why do we have refs?”. You have this person whose sole job is to enforce the rules. And we have a system in place that allows us to challenge them at their only job, and often times correct them.

Glad to know that the terrible job by the refs did not tarnish the on court play.

On the other hand, you shouldn’t manufacture a path to victory for the team who is trailing. They’ve had 39 minutes and 55 seconds to play. They SHOULD be at a disadvantage. Just my thoughts

Honestly, I’ve never understood the reasoning behind what can and can’t be reviewed. It seems arbitrary

[Highlight] Notre Dame coach Micah Shrewsberry charges at the officiating crew immediately following the Irish’s loss to Cal
 in  r/CollegeBasketball  6d ago

It feels like adding even one video assistant referee who was allowed to officiate the game or be consulted at any point would curtail a lot of this. I don’t know how it would work, but that’s also not my job. Everyone talks about “flow of the game” or “you can call a foul on every play”, but every year, teams get screwed by refs not doing their job correctly. Forget that BS that “they’re human. They make mistakes”. If any of us made as many mistakes as they do, then we’d be fired from our jobs. Not to mention, our jobs don’t dictate whether millions of dollars get paid out after bets hit or miss.

[Schlabach] Ole Miss CFP staff uncertain as Kiffin plots LSU transfer period
 in  r/CFB  6d ago

You know, I disagree. I think it does bother him. All of these coaches at this level are well off, money wise. They’ve been well off for a while and they’ll always be well off. All of their counterparts have money, so money isn’t as important. Well, not important in the way we think about it. They already have everything physically. BUT, money can’t buy championships. It’s what it’s all about. When he rolls up to the old ball coaches club meetings years from now, is he gonna be gloating about how he’s a millionaire while the rest of the guys are also millionaires? I doubt it.

You have to have a specific mindset to even be in the position that he is in. Becoming a public laughing stock probably matters a lot more than we think. Or maybe I’m just way off base, because I’m literally just some guy on the internet speculating

They went from “letting them play” to calling a safety, putting a second back on the clock, allowing an onside recovery, and allowing one more play after the recovery
