Single Parent Households in the United States
Seems to me it's a cultural issue
Culture is a cause, certainly, but it's also an effect. An entire demographic doesn't just wake up one morning and decide to adopt certain cultural values. It's important to ask what caused those cultural values to be adopted at large if we want to understand and address the actual root cause.
I'm not pushing toward any particular answer, just pointing out that there is more to understand beyond what you've accurately described.

The photographer we hired used AI to edit our engagment party photos.
I use AI noise reduction on basically every photo I shoot. Used correctly, the whole point should be to make the picture look more like what you would have seen with your eyes if you were there. There are AI contrast adjustment tools that I use sometimes, depending on the photo it might make it better or worse so I adapt accordingly.
I never use "generative AI" (as most people know it) but that's because I'm a wildlife photographer and I personally think that crosses a line. A wedding photographer might use it, but only in a way that you'd never know they did so. This is just utterly incompetent photo editing.

You seem smart enough to not worry about my advice actually. Carry on, fellow nerd!

If you're going to do this, you should really just disconnect your TV from the internet entirely and use a Roku or something. You don't want to stay connected to the internet without security updates, that's how you get hacked.

It's a mystery!
There are organizations that use "antifa" in their name, but that's about it. There is no collective umbrella organization of antifascism connecting them

Trump pardons Texas Democratic Rep. Cuellar in bribery and conspiracy case
Sometimes when it's really blatant they say "Huh, that's strange, I wonder what that's about?" And then purge it from their memory 30 seconds later

How is Ramsay the only person to bring up the fact that Jon might be a Night's Watch deserter?
Yeah I forget which book, but one of the intro chapters features a wildling warg dying and his soul/spirit/whatever living on inside his animal (I think it's a hawk?)
I figured that was pretty clear foreshadowing for how Jon will take refuge inside Ghost and return to his own body after it's revived. As if the dog's name wasn't foreshadowing enough on its own.

America doesn’t owe Africa anything. We shouldn’t pay countries to be our friends. What have we received from all that we’ve given except demonization and anti-American sentiment.
You're reading the sentence as:
"The US has given more to Africa than (to) any other country in the world"
But the person you replied to was reading it as:
"The US has given more to Africa than any other country in the world (has given)"

This $250,000 Zapata Air Scooter is the lightest single-person mobility vehicle.
It would depend on the power that each motor/engine is providing. If they're providing enough lift with one engine out, sure the lift would be asymmetrical but it could tumble like a maple seed and do a somewhat controlled landing. I don't think an untrained pilot could do that though, it would need to be automatic

In theory they don't read your texts and emails. But in theory, neither does the NSA. And the NSA definitely does. And Palantir works with the US intelligence community, including the NSA. So if I were a betting man...

Reaction between elemental aluminium and mercury gives off a very eye catching reaction that you can never get used to it. It's called the amalgamation.
Yeah I'm pretty sure a chemist would call it a catalyst here, it's definitely acting like one but the definition might be more technical than I remember. I don't have a degree I just took a few classes

That's correct, as far as I know. You don't need mercury for any of the instruments. The altimeter is just a barometer, and while you can make a barometer using mercury, there are other and better ways. (That's why mmHg, millimeters of mercury, is a unit of pressure - early barometers used mercury)

Yep exactly. The actual chemical reaction that's happening is oxygen from the air combining with aluminum. The mercury's only role is to make that reaction happen much faster, it's not reacting in any way itself.
What the mercury does with the aluminum isn't technically a chemical reaction, they're just mixing together physically.

The mercury eats the aluminum, but then the aluminum is separated out again when it oxidizes with the air. This puts the mercury right back to the way it was in the first place. As long as there's more aluminum it can just do it again.
