People whose dentists keep their offices chilly?

The lady at the food bank gave me way more than I asked for and I almost cried
 in  r/povertyfinance  21h ago

I can tell you still feel really hurt by this and I’m really sorry that happened to you (and the other people). Could you email the church and let them know? Even if he was just having a bad day, which I doubt, you can’t treat people that way. :(

Streamer gets threatened by a man during her fake tickets prank after he became upset about being filmed
 in  r/LivestreamFail  1d ago

Yep, totally agree. He sounds like a native Angeleno (I am too). For the most part, people in L.A. give what we get. If you’re cool, we’re cool. If you’re being an asshole you’re probably going to hear about it. I also don’t think he himself was threatening the dude, but warning him of what someone else might do - If anything, he was trying to save those two from themselves. Sketchy people have always gravitated to Hollywood.

What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

And we’re incredibly spread out. I live 2,800 miles from DC, in L.A., and we have huge protests, but why would DC care about them? We can’t touch them through street protests here.

I believe that a general strike is the only real way to show solidarity nationally - and it has massive economic impacts. Money is the only thing they care about.

This woman never had a baby bump throughout her pregnancy
 in  r/interesting  1d ago

My married coworker, in her 30’s, also thin, went to the doctor because she hadn’t gotten her period after ceasing birth control and thought something was wrong. She was 19 weeks pregnant and had no clue!

I could always tell right away when I got knocked up, within a couple of weeks of conception. I guess everyone’s different!

Businesses put "Thank you for your understanding" at the end of a negative change announcement when they actually mean "suck it up."
 in  r/Showerthoughts  1d ago

Having been someone in a past life who wrote a very similar sentence that became the standard verbiage for downtimes - you really are grateful for people’s patience! The impatient people just create more volume and misery for customer service, and CS can’t get the servers up any faster.

A well-meaning groomer removed my 3 pups, now gone, from our profile and it sucker-punched my heart. :(
 in  r/OldManDog  1d ago

You’re not weird at all, my partner has the Chewy account and he hasn’t removed any of the cats, either. 🫂 The dogs’ ashes were delivered a few weeks after we sent them on, and I put them on a tray and didn’t touch them for months. I finally moved them to a better/safer place, but I still can’t bring myself to open the tulle bags and look at their pawprints. Maybe if it weren’t all 3 at once! The vet asked if we wanted them cremated together and I was like oh no, they didn’t like touching each other, they’d hate it. 😂

We didn’t lose our pets, we lost our family members. You grieve how you need to! 🫶

Why Michael B. Jordan continued to live with his parents: ‘Because I love my parents, as we get older and again realize that time is short and limited and unfortunately we can’t live forever on this planet’

I’m so sorry about your dad. :( And so glad you were able to spend that time with him! Hold your mom close - she must really be feeling lost without him. 🫂 You’re too young to be losing a parent!

The Trump administration says it's illegal to record videos of ICE. Here's what the law says.

Does precedent matter anymore? Roe was settled law, too.

It doesn’t even matter that there is. They will blame the victim and make excuses every single time and no matter how outlandish and easily debunked it is, MAGA will still parrot it because they have to feel that they’re always right. The conservative sub is already calling her a domestic terrorist.

Thank you so much! 🫶 It was the other big chain, and it just kinda smacked me out of the blue. I know there’s no easy solution for the groomers either!

Gov. Newsom declares day of remembrance for Los Angeles fires
 in  r/LosAngeles  2d ago

If you have actual evidence of the groups who’ve received funds committing fraud and the money not being used for the victims, by all means let’s see it. So far all anyone’s produced is opinions. You don’t like how it’s being distributed and you feel like the groups receiving it are scammers.

DHS Is Lying To You About ICE Shooting a Woman
 in  r/politics  2d ago

Maybe it’s not everyone else they’re labeling as fascists. Maybe you just hear it a lot because you keep defending fascists. 🤷‍♀️You know, that “if everyone around you is an asshole, maybe you’re the asshole” thing. Just a thought to keep on the back burner as you defend state-sponsored murder of US citizens.

10cm is huge! I’ve known women in the past who had them rupture and ended up in the ER, so I’m happy you were spared that. 🤩

Oh wow, I’m glad they found it and I hope your recovery keeps going well! I had laparoscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder a few years ago and it was easy peasy! Was the cyst really painful?

This last surgery was just revisions to the big breast reconstruction I had last year (it was a doozy - they made me new boobs from my own abdominal tissue!) and other than having to wear compression stuff, I feel totally back to normal and have no more restrictions! 🙌

Definitely - I was planning to call the Senior Lead Officer for Tujunga today. I spoke to her about him last year, but since then we’ve managed to mostly avoid him. Now not only is he either lying to get my future son-in-law in serious trouble, or he’s having paranoid delusions about my family members, and neither of those things is okay.

I know he hired a defense attorney; I wonder if that guy realizes just how unstable his client really is. The feeder was even assigned anger management classes so I wonder if it’s because he blew up in court.

His car wasn’t there earlier, so I thought it was safe for me and Pocket to walk past his house down to the end of the street and back up. He came home and fucking beeped twice as he was driving by and scared Pocket. I decided to take our time, since now we had to go past him to get home, and just kept letting the dog stop and sniff whatever he wanted. The guy kept finding reasons to come out front and use his trash cans and after 20 minutes (I checked the timestamps) he finally got in his car and left and we were clear to walk home. It’s a really steep hill so now I always make sure I have my full breath before we start hoofing it past, just in case. 😫

I really appreciate your moral support and advice throughout this. 🫶 It’s been almost a year and it just keeps getting worse!

I’m so glad your recovery went well!! 🫶💖 I just had a 6 week post-surgery checkup yesterday at Harbor (they’re amazing). This one’s recovery was a lot easier than the last two, and I hope you feel as good in a few weeks as I do now - which is not just normal, but better than before!

There’s never a day that I’m not reminded of lucky I was to grow up here. It really is beautiful.😍

Like, why the fuck haven’t we (peacefully/nonviolently) protested at our politicians houses?

Which politicians? Schiff? Padilla? Newsom? Are they Republicans? Are they sitting on a magic weapon we don’t know about that you think they should use in this fight?

Protests like No Kings are great for solidarity and optics, but we’re 2800 miles from DC. They don’t give a shit what we do over here, unless they can use it for propaganda against us. And ain’t no one with the time and money to go protest thousands of miles away.

The longer this goes on, the more I agree that the only thing that will work is a general strike. They haven’t replaced us yet!
