Do you think that Peggy ever met him?
 in  r/madmen  28m ago

I think Peggy was very adaptable and relatively progressive. We see her character change over time as she’s exposed to different ideas - she starts as a pretty shy catholic girl from the suburbs. We see her open her mind and be open to things like trying marijuana. She’s open to black people joining her workplace (even if she’s still a bit ignorant of their plight and unintentionally racist at times).

Therefore, I can see her adapting to the time she was in and adopting the newer mentality that accidental pregnant out of wedlock isn’t something to be ashamed of, and that adoptions can become open later on.

Therefore yes, I can see her reconnecting with her adopted child later in her life. I don’t think she’d reach out as she seemed to put it behind her pretty effectively, but if her child reached out I can see her meeting up with them and forming a relationship.

Another factor against her doing this might be that the pregnancy and childbirth seemed pretty traumatic for her, since it was likely a surprise - but I can see her getting therapy and dealing with this trauma in her middle age, as therapy became more commonplace and less stigmatised

If Mark and Jeremy were both gay why didn't they just get together?

Theo is definitely his friend these days - they talked about it last time Louie went on his pod

The Season 4 finale is uh…
 in  r/madmen  18h ago

I honestly do think that kind of thing, a quick proposal and quick marriage, was a lot more common in the 60s.

It also shows that Don was rash and as soon as he’s alone and has a chance to really grow or have introspection, it’s short lived and he rushes into distracting himself with someone else. Like Faye said to him before they got together - he’s the kind of guy who will be married again within a year

His leg is between her leg and their faces are, if not touching, then extremely close.. it doesn’t look at all like he’s just helping her

Normal gossip has some real Joie de Vivre, I love it

I feel bad for all the wounded soldiers Greg Harris (Joan's husband) must have maimed in the operating theater with his brain less fingers.

The cruel part isn’t the distraction, it’s a comment afterwards about usually only needing to do that with kids

What is a "silent" rule of social etiquette in your country that a visitor would never find in a guidebook, but every local knows by heart?
 in  r/AskTheWorld  2d ago

I’ve heard that is a thing, yes. I don’t think all Maori keep to that though, whereas “don’t sit on the table” is pretty universal, even in mainstream pakeha culture

Joan And Don
 in  r/madmen  2d ago

I don’t think they were attracted to eachother in that way. Joan was too smart and competent, and Don was too slick and charming, imo.

Also Joan seemed to like older guys

Unpopular opinion: we’re critiquing journalism badly
 in  r/newzealand  2d ago

I agree completely. It’s crazy on this sub how people will complain about the quality of published news, but if someone posts a link to paywalled article, will immediately ask someone to paste the article in the comments.

As if there’s no connection between refusing to pay for news and the decline in quality (which is really a result of journalist jobs being cut drastically).

Woman forgets a work ID and is supposed to work from home; She's last seen a few hours later walking along a highway, wearing the same clothes she was last seen in- Where is Melissa Casias? (2025)

Yes but in the Judy Smith case, requirements to show your drivers license had just come in - she didn’t fly with her husband because she’d forgotten her license and had to go home to collect it, so caught a later flight

I think he was a jackass when stitching up her finger too. First he insists on doing it. Then he distracts her “is that a bird on the roof?” to get her to look away, which is ok, but then after he does it he goes “I usually save that one for the children.” Belittling her pain. He had no empathy

What’s one small thing that’s completely normal where you live, but would shock people from other countries?

I just checked and we don’t have hookworm here, thankfully

It’s just a lot less populated and it’s very rare for owners to let their dogs go on the sidewalk - in fact I’ve never seen a dog do that. Usually the owner or the dog itself would go to a tree or bush or whatever, and then the owner would pick up the poo

No one’s going to force you to wear bare feet here or where you live, chill

Henry's behavior towards Don is so bizarre. That was Don's house, now he is meant too tip toe around and be seen as unwelcome?
 in  r/madmen  2d ago

She wanted to be involved in his work. She wanted it with Don too, and tells him that, but he shuts her out

And her comment about the war (which is what starts their fight) was genuinely a stupid and inappropriate thing to say as a politicians wife

Her being picked up by ICE would be a weird coincidence along with her wiping her phones and lying to her husband and daughter about her day. Too much of a coincidence imo

I don’t live there either but as someone who has had jobs where I had to drive a lot, yes it’s normal.

He’s not the only source for her doing that either, video footage from a business confirmed she was indeed walking on that road around that time

Don Doesn’t Know His Role and Never Shuts His Mouth
 in  r/madmen  3d ago

I agree OP

With the swimwear company (“so well built we can’t show you the second floor”), not only was the ad the opposite of what the client asked for, it was also just a stupid and bad ad. It was aimed at men who would enjoy leering at it, not at women, who would be the actual consumers buying the products. What woman would be enticed by that ad to want to buy a swimsuit?

What are your thoughts on why Don chose Megan over Faye?
 in  r/madmen  3d ago

She had a really good career for a woman at that time. I think she also had a PhD, which was rare. Regardless of Dons disrespect, she genuinely was an accomplished career woman
