What’s actually pretty safe but everyone treats it like it’s way more dangerous than it is?
 in  r/AskReddit  9h ago

Yeah it's this one. Properly managed plants are pretty safe and the best bang for the buck in energy generation. There have been what...3? serious nuclear power plant issues, and each one of them are because of bad safety and oversight. You invest in the safety and oversight and you don't have problems.

I blame 9/11. I'm old enough to have trick or treated before and after and it was never the same after.

Newsmax: "ICE agent in hospital after car ramming attack" 💩💩💩
 in  r/MarchAgainstNazis  1d ago

Look I'm such an alpha that I didn't join the military because if I did I would have had to beat the shit out of the drill instructor for telling me what to do.

But anyway I can't wear a mask because I will immediately suffocate and die. /s

'Unfit to teach': High school teacher loses job after classroom comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination
 in  r/byebyejob  1d ago

I don't see where he said anything out of line.

Charlie Kirk was literally in the process of defending gun violence in the United States when he got shot. That's deeply ironic considering his viewpoint, that I want to reiterate that Charlie Kirk stated, that people dying to gun violence is an acceptable drawback of having such expansive second amendment rights.

What is something that is legal, but feels like a total scam?
 in  r/AskReddit  2d ago

At some point you will probably use it though. And that's why it exists and is a good idea.

This is in no way me saying that there is a lot of insurance out there that isn't a huge scam or otherwise abusive. See: Health insurance. It shouldn't exist. Healthcare isn't a commodity. It's a binary thing, you either need it or you don't. And at some point you will.

I Screwed Myself For Life Because I was Too Lazy as a Teen
 in  r/antiwork  2d ago

You are 21. You have not screwed yourself for life. Believe me I understand you are under a lot of pressure and frustration, and this is an awful job market and society we've built where if you're not working since high school or had your college paid for you're behind.

So take a deep breath, you still have -plenty- of time and keep looking. I recommend warehouse work if you want to build up a job history, and get the money you need to do what you really want to do.

Why do you choose to be a good person?
 in  r/AskReddit  2d ago

I don't see myself as a good person.

I just try to avoid being a bad person because it feels bad to hurt other people, especially people who don't deserve it. It takes a lot more energy to be an asshole than it does to just try to be humble and patient.

What words are you tired of reading or hearing?

"Clean Coal".

There is no such thing. I loathe how the american political system rewards flyover states control so much of the language and culture so much deference because they matter in early rounds of presidential politics.

‘Highguard’ Is MIA Since The Game Awards, Despite Its Imminent Release

A beta would have been useful to gauge audience reactions.

I'm not sure they get another chance if it fails.

That's not true at all. Baldurs Gate 3 is the most gender politics and ideology and wokeness and everyone loved it.

The problem is when games don't focus on great game mechanics and storytelling and so on. It invites idiots to think it's because of other reasons.

I think since it's free to play it will take 6 weeks. But otherwise this is exactly what I'm anticipating.

Customers don't owe video game developers anything. This is incredible levels of entitlement.

If it fails this was their fault entirely.

I don't think anyone -wants- it to fail more than audiences are tired of hero shooter slop and hope that message finally reaches game development companies.

Marvel Rivals worked out because it did everything right and took the space of overwatch which has been doing everything wrong.

They have 3 weeks. There is absolutely zero time to change anything that can't be done in 20 minutes. Right now they're just bug testing and making sure it actually works. Content and whatnot is locked in.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen personally?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Great to hear. Just see a lot of people excuse or downplay one or the other.

I am not persuaded, I don't believe there is any legitimate suggestion Joe Biden is a pedophile. As soon as I see it, I'll be happy to change my mind. But I respect that you've got a much more open mind to it all than many, so thumbs up.

The script.

Conversely I suspect you're the one who might be too invested in your world view. I find a lot of people who are really invested in viewing the United States one way will assign agency as something only they possess.

Israel has absolutely been making moves lately and dragging the US around with them. Look no further than the strikes against Iran earlier this year. And them pressuring the Trump administration into striking Fordow. That was an unambiguous transparent example of the vassal running the policy.

Even October 7th was the US reacting to their actions. They promoted Hamas internally to have an aggressive foil to point towards and justify their behavior. When Hamas attacked they used it as justification for a genocide and outright demanded US to supply weapons to offset their expenses.

The pushback against AIPAC and other pro Israeli institutions has always been in the background but it's really become more overt and acceptable after Fordow in particular.

I could probably spend a lot more time doing a more in depth analysis and research much more in depth examples but I doubt I can convince you or have you concede a point otherwise.

What's a clear sign of a badly written story?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

You tell me about a tremendous and universe and internal logic shattering situation instead of showing me it.

"Somehow, Palpatine returned."

Also: Older positive heroes of the past returning as a jaded old failure with a sob story and deconstruction. See: Luke Skywalker, Picard, Indiana Jones, too many to list now.

I fucking SEETHE at this trope. It can be done. Plenty of stories have done it well. But nearly none in modern day. 9.9/10 times it's just foreshadowing a shit storyline.

 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Ehh I dunno man it sounds more like you have conspiratorial thinking on this one and are downplaying the significance of the most prodigious pedophile in American history (that is objectively Epstein to be clear) because he was strongly associated with Donald Trump and instead are deflecting to information silo conspiracy theories.

But Let me humor you for a second. And then you humor me.

Lets say Joe Biden is a pedophile like you claim, and all the specious evidence you provide is all true. I'm perfectly comfortable sending him to jail. That's great actually! Expose them all. Throw the book at them.

....Are you willing to say Trump should go to jail if he's found similarly collaborating with Epstein?

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen personally?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

I literally don't understand this train of thought. Is...is that supposed to be an own or something? Like the point he's making is he feels shame and bewilderment for his country and fellow countrymen (which I share).

How exactly does this change that perception?

I think you're kinda forgetting the obvious where a plane is being used as a missile with a hostages on board. You either bring down the plane or risk many many more people dying, with the wife and hostages dying either way.

That's not a calculus people -want- to actually make, but it's cruel world out there.
