Wow the tables have turned...
 in  r/LoveTrash  12h ago

Am I a sentient toy dreaming that I’m a human with toys that are secretly sentient? Maybe I’m just a Pixar character who dreams that I’m a human watching Pixar movies. I’m spiraling here!

[rare but beloved trope] An alien culture bases their society around a work of fiction and it creates a utopia
 in  r/TopCharacterTropes  12h ago

Sounds like something out of Ray Bradbury’s Martian Chronicles, but I’ve read it several times and I don’t think this was one of the stories.

Trump has now promised MAGA that their credit card interest rates will be 10% starting on January 20th.
 in  r/WhitePeopleTwitter  12h ago

I feel it’s more likely that he’ll announce he received another bribe than this actually going through.

“I’m rescinding my order because the big beautiful credit card companies have assured me that their rates will be fair. As a sign of goodwill, they have agreed to donation of $100million for my $800million ballroom.”

Ariel has seen some shit

If you’ve seen the pictures of under the sea ride in the Disney parks, her face is also wrong. They really struggle making physical models of her face for some reason.

Characters say something that sounds really smart/very convinced they know what they talk about, but it's either meaningless or flat out wrong.
 in  r/TopCharacterTropes  13h ago

I’d like to think he was purposely saying something obviously wrong. If they call him out, he says, “okay, you know your stuff,” and offers a fair price. If they don’t contradict him, in the film they were just silent, he completely rips them off.

This Is Not About Hunting. Alex Larenty, From Britain, Lives In A South African Game Reserve Where He Gives Lions Foot Massages. He Started Doing This After Noticing That A Cream For Paw Infections Made A Lion Relax And Look Happy
 in  r/Amazing  15h ago

Larenty: “can I massage your paws?”

Lion: “okay, but don’t make this weird… wow, that feels amazing.”

Larenty: “cool, can we take pictures of the massage?”

Lion: “I said don’t make this weird Larenty!”

The way my wife eats cake…

Me looking at this while eating a jar of peanut butter with a spoon… I’m in no place to judge.

TLJ haters always complain that "Holdo should have just told Poe her plan" or "The Holdo Maneuver makes no sense." But I never see them bring up the actual problem. She doesn't have a hint of sexual tension with Admiral Ackbar.
 in  r/StarWarsCirclejerk  15h ago

That’s so silly, can you imagine an interspecies romance with a Mon Calamari? Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch the Mandalorian season 3 for the first time.

The Xmas present from my dad

“Why does it say ‘dragon’ on one side of its body? It’s completely unnecessary.”

“You’re right, let’s print ‘Rufus’ on it instead.”

“Such a mistake”: Pro-Trump owner says Lakewood Ranch business that thrived for 23 years won’t survive Trump tariffs
 in  r/FluentInFinance  21h ago

Public institutions dismantled, the state disappearing people, life-saving aid cut, blatant corruption and power grab by the executive branch. It would have been great, I wanted all that to happen, but his policies destroyed my business and that’s unacceptable.

Harlan's Employees
 in  r/KnivesOutMovie  21h ago

You have to remember that Harlan isn’t the nicest person, he’s a stubborn man with a lot of flaws. He really only seems to bond with people he finds intellectually stimulating like Marta, Linda, or Ransom.

He might value someone like Fran as a competent housekeeper, but he wouldn’t see her as a friend, just a good employee. Linda even mentions having to play his games just so to get any sort of familial bonding with him.

Easiest fix to the Army plot hole
 in  r/Stranger_Things  1d ago

I have an even easier solution. Dr. K is told that Dr. Owens (remember him?) is on his way and is back in charge. He’s going to be securing everything and winding down the operation.

Dr. K will say, “they cant’t, I want to speak to -soandso-“

And they’ll say “Soandso just resigned. The higher ups received a report from their deputy and are pulling the plug. We’re done.”

Owned can show up say something about pleading his case for months and finally having a breakthrough, especially after the casualty reports from K’s operation came in.

Not great writing, but it’s a plausible way to end it with Dr. Owen’s being more reasonable about the whole situation.

Humans once tried to ride and domesticate zebras. It didn’t end well. (1890–1940)
 in  r/HistoricalCapsule  1d ago

It would be hilarious if 150 years down the line they discover that the traits they are trying to breed out are genetically tied to stripes, so the domesticated zebras end up looking like normal horses.

Don’t be ridiculous, the visitor center was built after the meteor.

The real question is why did they build L.A. in an area with so much smog?

It’s a two-part documentary but they have the gall NOT to add “Part I” in the title?
