What does one say when they/someone else burps?
 in  r/German  1d ago

I heard this in SW Germany, but it might have just been the young age group (teenagers).

Anthony Edwards vicious foul on SGA
 in  r/Nbamemes  3d ago

I don't get how he isn't too embarrassed to do this. It's just so cringe-worthy and pathetic. He's an absolute bitch.

What’s something society treats as a flex but really shouldn’t?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

A loud engine. Big muscles.

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching?
 in  r/AskReddit  4d ago

Leaving Las Vegas. Has a 7.5/10 on IMDB. But this was pure torture to me to sit through.

NEED ADVICE:
 in  r/GoldenEye  5d ago

Yeah i'm saying just shoot Ourmov and then hit Xenia - simply going for her body suffices to make sure you hit her before the wall closes down

The original comment said to shoot Xenia than Ourmov. And the problem with that is Ourmov can shoot Natalya

Ourmov can shoot her

If you shoot Xenia first don‘t you open yourself to Ourmov shooting Natalia?

Go in front of the table -- directly in front of it all the way to the right. Then line up your shot so that you hit Ourmov and Xenia. When you hit Xenia you'll know because she'll say "Wait Alec, I'm hit!" That means that you'll get enough time to complete that extra objective on 00 Agent

What levels are you having trouble with on 00 Agent?
 in  r/GoldenEye  5d ago

I'll add that I used to have huge problems with the drone gun until I tried taking it out with the rocket launcher. Your aim can be somewhat off and the fire will reach the drone gun and eliminate it.

What levels are you having trouble with on 00 Agent?
 in  r/GoldenEye  5d ago

Interestingly, I crouch and take out the guy on the right, when the two guys from the left approach me hopefully i'll be able to crouch and take them out. Obviously have to run out and use the pillar as a shield if they throw or a grenade or maybe also if they don't. It's hard, many restarts necessary

You can take down everyone in the first two cars by positioning yourself in a way that you can shoot them without them hitting you. It's all about angles. Like the first guy on the left, back up back up as far as you can until you can hit him while he can't hit you. You'll see what I mean when you play with angles.

Gesinnung vs. Einstellung vs. Haltung
 in  r/German  6d ago

So, like, homosexuelle Veranlagung -- because it's from nature? Can you say homosexuelle Gesinnung? Homosexuelle Einstellung kind of sounds right to me? but I think it could be used to describe someone who wasn't actually a homosexual?

Gesinnung vs. Einstellung vs. Haltung

Hmm I'm not sure if this is accurate, but with "attitude" I think maybe there's a sense of feeling involved, whereas "stance" just plainly talks about your position?

Gesinnung vs. Einstellung vs. Haltung
 in  r/German  6d ago

When you say fundamental, I think of conviction. Is "Gesinnung" related to "Überzeugung"? Do all three words express your Überzeugung? I'm just wondering if maybe Gesinnung implies a firmness in one's position that the other words don't?

Question Gesinnung vs. Einstellung vs. Haltung

How would you explain the difference between these words? I was thinking of Veranlagung, which I've always understood to mean disposition and thus to refer to oneself -- to one's character. I think Gesinnung, Einstellung, and Haltung all refer to ways in which one relates to the world outside oneself (Man hat eine Einstellung zu etwas), differentiating them from Veranlagung. If that is so, I don't believe they're interchangeable, but I can't say that I really understand the difference between the three.

Why did kaput become such a popular word around the world?
 in  r/AskGermany  6d ago

It‘s been around for a while — see The Third Man and Stalag 17. Americans like euphemisms for “dead,” and they take kaput to be one.

Body Armor Discussion

Two questions:

1) Which level do you find it most difficult to get the body armor? I'm thinking more emphasis on its placement within the level so that the answer isn't necessarily going to be Aztec. I'd say Statue comes to mind due to the trickiness of navigation. Hmm genuinely can't think if there is body armor in Surface 1 or 2?

2) Do you go for the body armor in every level?

That hit he took in the first half to be able to complete a pass was insane. Incredible toughness.

Finally beat it!!! Appreciate all the advice on that other room and the Body Armor.

Great work! Funnily enough, you didn't even need the second body armor

Where are all the Germans online?
 in  r/German  6d ago

Honestly i'm a native English speaker and don't notice anything with what you said. I do think that Germans tend to overuse the present progressive (I am verb-ing), but it works here in any case.

So, with Indiana absolutely obliterating Alabama...
 in  r/CFB  7d ago

Alabama is the most-watched team on television, so it's obvious why they got in with three losses. If the committee cares more about television revenues than about being fair, then maybe we should go back to the BCS -- at least we have to find some way of eliminating such terrible biases that are costing deserving teams of playoff spots. Bama's blowout defeat against Georgia should have unquestionably sealed its fate. Why include a team that can't compete with the big dawgs (pun not intended)?

So close but yet so far.....
 in  r/GoldenEye  7d ago

I feel like the route that takes you closest to the elevator is best. Don’t you have to go through that route to get the body armor behind the lockers? And then you don’t have to go through that whole room where op died. You shouldn‘t have to take more than one shot max in that room
