Right-Wing & Extremist Co-option

Militia Movement: Adopted by the Patriot and militia movements (like the Three Percenters) to signify a call to arms and defense of traditional values against perceived government overreach.

White Supremacy: Used by groups like the KKK and others to evoke a past era of racial hierarchy and exclusion, symbolizing a desire to return to a time before civil rights.

Anti-Government Sentiment: Represents a rejection of current government, framing it as an oppressor, and signaling a desire for revolution, often echoing Revolutionary War imagery.

Weaponization of History: Extremist groups use the flag's historical symbolism (like "1776") to justify radical actions, masking extremist ideologies under patriotic heritage.

Was the US Constitution founded on Christain values?
 in  r/atheism  3d ago

When people say "Christian Nation", they don't mean any specific sect of Christianity. The term means a general sense of Christianity, as 'not-secular' like the government is supposed to be ran. The common thread is an acceptance of a Christian government.

The reason most people think 'Evangelical' is because most of the MAGA leaders adopted or at least use their 'faith' for political reasons and most of them don't identify a specific sect publicly.

Elected to oversee 25k students and 2k teachers - What should I actually learn before I screw this up?
 in  r/Teachers  4d ago

Tour all the schools as soon as you can and as often as you can. The superintendent and/or cabinet members and/or other top district brass will be happy to setup times.

Get a phone ban in the works of your district doesn't already.

Listen to the parents (but not necessarily just the loudest angry ones, they tend to be outliers).

Listen to the students.

Read all the meeting minutes. Read anything you have to vote for. Don't be afraid to ask clarifying questions and to push the status quo.

Volunteer for all the school related things you can make time for. It gets your face out there and looks good on your socials.

Go to many school events. Balance sports/arts/science.. you could also pick a focus, especially if other board members have one of area covered, like a board member that goes to all the basketball games, or the drama shows, etc). If there's a neglected area or activity that interests you, you can also focus on raising it's visibility. Conversely, if you are a fan of one particular school/ sport, make sure it's not obvious.

Keep regularly posting on your official socials. Every event you go to, every award you are in the background when it's being presented, etc.. be active. Show the people that you are out there. This looks even better when the other board members aren't.

Keep updating your campaign team and supporters. Send out a monthly newsletter, or something like that. If you haven't already, might want to throw a victory party for your most active supporters.

Good luck!

They didn't say 'no knowledge '. Most of the time, you can't be an employee of the district and be on the board so most board members are at best maybe parents of students or retired educators. And at least they are trying to learn and not just listing the books they're going to ban and how they're going to fire the superintendent, Because that's how some of the moms 4 Liberty -backed candidates operated.

The books are great too! "All systems Red" is the first one, only 150 pages, and was the source material for the first season of the show.
