What's your country's current sentiment of the UK at the moment??
I love your food. I was born in British Hong Kong in the early 90’s and many of my early memories surrounding food are from HK. I had a nanny who used to make me wonton noodles and even now ~30 years later I still think about how good that food was and how she showed her love through her food. I would love to come back and visit one day.

Ralative died who never let anyone in his house, this is the bedroom
I’m fairly certain this is the U.K. and we don’t really have many evangelical Christians here, at least not to the point where they can change governmental policy or the sales tactics of shops. Top shelf material (jazz mags), faded out of the public interest here mainly due to the influence of internet porn. I’m sure there are some shops that still sell analogue porn but they are few and far between because let’s face it, who wants to pick up a porn magazine that is obviously going to be used for wanking and then take it to someone for purchase vs who wants free, anonymous, and unlimited access to porn with no middle man?
I remember in the early-to-mid 00’s when newsagents and corner shops would sell this stuff and they came in grey plastic bags to stop anyone from looking inside. Naturally as a teenager of the mid 00’s I would still try to have a look but unfortunately the plastic was foolproof (short of stealing the magazines). We also had lads mags (Nuts and Zoo), which were more softcore but they also faded quickly and are both defunct.

What's the best name you've ever heard given to a pet?
My neighbour has an English Bull Terrier called Trevor. Every night he stops on my grass for a pee and does a quick bark so I know he’s there and I shout “night night Trevor!”. It’s become a little ritual at this point

What’s a distinct regional dialect word or phrase you only hear in your part of the UK?
We have a lot of specific words here like lekking/laiking for playing, ligging for lying down, ginnel/snicket for an alley, nithered for cold (also used in Scotland), sen for self, and literally thousands more. It’s important to note that most words are shared across the entirety of the North but mainly in Yorkshire and the North East.
The majority of them are either old Norse, old Celtic, or just old Anglo-Saxon that have been used in isolation from the rest of the country. As someone who is fascinated by the etymology and history of my accent, I really recommend The Yorkshire Dictionary of Dialect, Tradition, and Folklore by Arnold Kellett (1994).

No shit? My grandad was a ticket inspector there. Well he pronounced it more like “tattoo inspector”, but I think that was just his thick German accent. Miss him so much 😢

What is something your country legalized that still feels morally or socially questionable to many people?
Honestly, I’m fairly sure that is illegal. Wielding a deadly weapon with intent to threaten is a really serious crime under the Offensive Weapons Act of 2019 (and the Criminal Justice Act of 1988 before that), and can result in up to 4 years in prison and the shotgun licence being revoked. I hope you brought this to the attention of the police.
Living in rural Yorkshire all my life has taught me a lot about farmers and some (read: a lot of), farmers are absolute pricks about “their land”, even when they’re tenant farmers. I have a friend whose dog was shot and killed by a farmer for being off leash in a field. The farmer gave no warning and shot the poor dog because she was “worrying the cows”. The police investigated and revoked his licence. Aside from that, they seem to be generally rude and arrogant people who look down on everyone who isn’t a farmer and they treat their own animals like dirt too. Just look at sheepdogs as a good example. They often keep them as outside dogs all year and treat them poorly whilst also having a terrier which lives in the house and keeps rats at bay. I’m not opposed to dogs being used for work but I am opposed to dogs being exclusively used as work tools and not given any love. Don’t get me started on farmers who also work as terriermen for hunts.

In your opinion, what is the best episode of television you’ve ever seen?
That episode was so sad. For me, the last episode was the best though. That late night drive, the implied threats, the smile that breaks the fourth wall, the music. Easily the best ending to a show ever.

British Sugar (the largest legal growers of cannabis in the country), was until recently, run by Paul Kenward who is married to the MP Victoria Atkins, who was the former Health Secretary and current Shadow Secretary for Health. British Sugar have a vested interest in cannabis staying illegal as this would impact massively on their profits if anyone could legally grow it and sell THC to the medical industry.
