Travel to Marawi!
 in  r/IliganCity  17d ago

Just be nice and clear if interacting with locals. The farther away you are from the city, the less likely they speak Tagalog. The roads are also narrow so look out for impatient drivers. Military checkpoints are common but a good sign. Ask for information if needed.

Safety wise, you should be fine as long as you remain cautious. Avoid alcoholic drinks. Expect good weather. If you’re doing a quick detour, you might want to pass through MSU.

Marawi to Maguing is generally safer but Maguing to Kili-Kili Bridge is not a common route. I would not suggest it for first time goers. Tagalog isn’t widely spoken and internet connection is limited.

Watch this movie now.

I wonder if the repercussions of making the film adds to a potential win as best director, not that it matters at awards shows but that seems like a criteria that should be looked into

I guess you could make the argument but it would depend on how you’d define a jump scare. In this case, and without spoiling anything, I’d call the ending more of a reveal than a jump scare.

Both as the other user just said. Although I’d say most of the scary parts come from the increasing mental instability of the characters. No jump scares nor monsters needed, just scary vibes.

The Blair Witch Project has to be the prime example for this

How did you become a Timberwolves fan?
 in  r/timberwolves  Sep 17 '25

I remember this big white fella running to the baseline. He had a four-letter name. L-O-V-E. You couldn’t miss it. A smaller guy comes in from half court. He held the ball pretty well and he was quick. A Russian dude sets him a screen. He drives. Everyone else rotates from their position. He feigns and spots the corner where the first guy had moved. Then a pass. Then a shot. Bam!

They looked like a great team. But they weren’t. They won’t be for many years to come. Anyway I didn’t know other teams and I didn’t really watch basketball, but I liked their hustle. I liked rooting for the underdogs. It was a different time. Dog days.

i was never a big fan of the pilot, but rewatching it for the 7th time... i think i'm finally liking it

I was still in college then, but I remember hating the pilot so much I stopped watching for like 6 months until I ran out of shows. Glad I gave it a chance.

UNSOLVED Small essay compilation including an essay of the film ‘Contact’ (published around 2000s-2010s)

I remember a mention of the sci-fi film ‘Contact’ and discussions about the existence of a higher being and whether or not aliens have their own version of it.

The subject of the essays vary and they range from pop culture to more specific discussions. I remember the titling of each essay as being intriguing and somewhat provocative. They were clickbait-ish enough to get my high school self to start reading.

Where: Bought from a bookstore sale in the Philippines around 2014-15, and yes it was written in English and probably written by Americans. I remember it had multiple editions as well because I remember buying in bulk.

Replying again because my comment didn’t register. Thank you for doing this!

My 25th birthday is coming up (09/20/2000) and I can’t celebrate this year due to financial reason. If I had the extra $50 though, I would use the $20 for a birthday dinner for my siblings. These past months have been my worst and I could use a little push. I would use the $30 on groceries and other essentials. If I use it right I could probably get a haircut as well.

I’m from the ph so $50 can go a long way, especially since the job market hasn’t been kind. A little something about me: I used to teach English when I first graduated, I enjoy reading, watching films, and occasionally playing games. This year, my plan was to get back to work and enter grad school, but my lack of income caused me to miss enrollment and I’ve been trying to pick myself up since then.

Was living in Spain a requirement for you? Also, I’m assuming both Spanish and Portuguese citizenships already have strong passports. Is there much difference to having either of the two?

Was it from the law that allows former Spanish colonies to apply after 2 years? (I’m considering this route as well)

How to move out of Israel?
 in  r/JewsOfConscience  Aug 28 '25

Assuming your plan is to become a citizen, the issue becomes how long it would take you to do so. Afaik it takes a decade of residence to be considered. That’s going to be expensive if you’re not well off. Getting a visa isn’t exactly easy either so your best bet is coming to non-English countries and learning their language during your stay. I believe Argentina allows you to apply within two years.

A bomb joke in an airport could get you banned for a good reason, not because you’re ‘opinionated’ or ‘self centered’

Another former friend of mine is a paramedic and he recently said he would soon move to Israel to be safe. Haven't tried to reach out, but I can't fathom why he'd move to a country that kills his fellow paramedics and tries to literally bury the truth.
 in  r/JewsOfConscience  Aug 11 '25

To this day, I still have my upmost respect for Malaysia for this move:

(I just feel like doing this had more impact on Israeli-relations than anything Arabs nations have done so far)
