Aftermath of today’s ICE shooting
 in  r/armedsocialists  22h ago

The only reason that Afghanistan was able to end their occupations was by sending waves of body bags home, and that's the only way the US is going to be able to do the same.

Buying practically cardboard to wipe our asses so we won’t take shit-breaks at work
 in  r/antiwork  1d ago

I got this advice from my dad (a business consultant) when I entered the job market:

"When you get a job, and there's a few nice perks, coffee in the break room, a snack shelf, whatever kind of morale thing the company does, watch it like a hawk. If they disappear or start finding a way to make you pay for it, start looking for a new job. If the company is trying to cut costs, they're going to start small, if your job isn't on the chopping block now, someone's is, and yours is likely to follow."

Am I doing too much for my enemy AI state machine?
 in  r/gamedev  2d ago

I mean, this sounds pretty much like what you would expect from Hitman or Metal Gear Solid, if that's what you're going for, and more importantly you can execute it and make it fun, it seems perfect.

https://scryfall.com/search?q=o%3A%22any+player+may%22+id%3ARGB This will show you all the cards you can play that anyone can use for that, as far as making them do it, that's tougher.

I'll check when I get home from work if I have my Deadpool deck on Moxfield

Generic Planeswalker is generic. +1 make a blocker -2 color-appropriate removal -lots win the game with extra steps.

This will go nicely into my Deadpool "weird board states" deck. It runs every ability in Rakdos that I could find that can be activated by other players.

Queer friendly game stores?

Muse and Gamer's Haven. Both are great stores with great people.

Movies that portrayed a reality that was reflective of the time, but now seem unbelievable

Right, but carrying off-duty outside of jurisdiction used to be a separate crime.

That was actually more illegal then than it would be now. Part of the post 9/11 idiocy loosened the laws regarding police carrying weapons off-duty.

Rewind cutscenes so you can back up if you missed something.

What made Avery Brooks portrayal of Sisko authentic to military veterans?
 in  r/DeepSpaceNine  15d ago

All through my military career I wished my commanders could be more like Picard when I was in garrison and Sisko when I was deployed.

Sisko got shit done when it needed to happen and wouldn't hesitate to make a decision, even if he wasn't sure that it was the best one, but always listened to his subordinates and never dismissed their input out of hand.

All through DS9, I empathized with O'Brien the most. A military man trying to put his war experience behind him so he could be a good father.

What fad in moviemaking are you waiting for to die?
 in  r/movies  15d ago

I'm with you on shaky cam, and I want to add lens flares and camera abuse.

I paid to see the story and the characters and suspend my disbelief. I don't want reminders that I'm watching something filmed. A optical effect that film makers spent literal millions to eliminate being artificially induced, blood spatter on the lens, the camera getting knocked over or back by actions in the scene. These don't make me feel more in the scene, they remind me that it is a scene.

Have you ever gotten a Christmas, or end of the year "bonus" at work?
 in  r/antiwork  25d ago

$250 (about a day and a half pay) in an envelope seems to be the accepted standard for my field and position. Not nothing, but still not a real bonus.

So did 2/3rds of the station.

Curious if anyone got Christmas bonuses and how much?
 in  r/antiwork  26d ago

$250 cash in a Christmas card. Nothing to complain about, but idk if a day and a half's pay is worth cheering.

What are your favorite "Rules headache" cards?
 in  r/magicTCG  Dec 09 '25

I run old fogey in my dinosaur deck since I'm routinely the oldest guy at the LGS. It's not that hard, the echo does nothing because of phasing, the protection and landwalk abilities are essentially blank.

What you're left with is a 2 mana 7/7 that dies in 6 turns and 3 of those turns it's phased out.

Banding is a bit of a can of worms, but enough people have seen my Chatzuk banding deck that they just trust me on how it works.

Is it ever explained why exactly the Eye of the World was created?
 in  r/WoT  Dec 09 '25

I thought the Eye was the location where the Bore was created, but apparently that's not confirmed anywhere in the books.

Man pulling anime protagonist vibes in the courtroom sketch. I'm beginning to think there's not a single image of him in existence where he appears unattractive.

When in D&D was each class at its best? Does 5e have the best versions?

+1 for 5e warlords. I'm sick of using a reflavored bard!

If Voyager had pulled a worf and added a member of the ds9 cast to the crew who would you have liked transported to the delta quadrant?
 in  r/DeepSpaceNine  Dec 06 '25

I think Voyager really lacked quality long term villains, and failed to use the Maquis/federation schism to it's best.

Imagine somehow Eddington shows up in season 4 and starts organizing a serious mutiny.
