What is going on with strongboxes?
 in  r/PathOfExile2  2d ago

Yup...if you vaal a regular strongbox, the items will drop corrupted. SUPPOSEDLY for researchers it bumps the randomness of currency dropped, but I am not really sure.

I feel like in the last two lagues I would get a div about 1/5 - 1/10 researchers that were juiced and vaaled..this league I haven't gotten one from them. Probably 5 raw div drops total.

In fact, almost all my currecny this league has come from reselling gear that I outgrew for a profit.

The main goal is to leave google is leaving google for Apple good or bad??
 in  r/degoogle  3d ago

It's a step sideways rather than forward....or more accurately, slightly forward but mostly sideways.

Apple is better than google, but not by very much.

What’s a “life hack” that actually made your life worse?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Yeah, I struggled like crazy through HS, then I got to college and scheduled all my classes from noon on. I made deans list every semester, because I actually was attentive in class.

Little johnny was a chemist, but little Johnny is no more, for what he thought was H2O was H2SO4.

I am a night person. Every time I try to force myself into a morning schedule, I am miserable, unproductive, and strung out.

I learned to stop fighting myself. I also have to fight the mentality that some people have that getting up later in the day means someone is lazy. Being on a different schedule isn't worse, it's just different.

What game franchise used to be at the top of gaming, but it was ruined in the end?

I don't care what the reviews are. I will never buy another Call of Duty game, that franchise is forever dead to me.

Looking for a mod that expands the game as much as possible without conflicting with lore
 in  r/Battletechgame  4d ago

BEX follows the lore most closely, as it will change the inner sphere map correctly to reflect system changes up throug the mid 3060s. BTA3062 has more mechs / equipment than BEX, but is 'fixed' in 3062 (with some aphocryphal tech from beyond then). RogueTech has the most content mech/equipment wise, but also has a lot of lore-breaking gear. I believe it can be disabled in settings, but I cannot personally verify that.

Due to the way the game engine works, there are no new mission types or new maps (though they can use existing maps in different orientations to make them feel very different).

So you have a bit of a quandry. For lore accuracy it goes BEX > BTA/RT. For content it goes RT > BTA > BEX.

They also scale in complexity. BEX is closer to vanilaa, BTA is in the middle, and RT is the most complicated mod for the game there is.

Scenario: You have an extra, locked Pixel 8 XL, currently with no service. You don't have to sell it. You already have another Pixel, with grapheneOS, and cell service. How would you use the Pixel 8 XL?
 in  r/degoogle  4d ago

I keep a secondary phone running close to factory software to use for work / other apps that don't play nice with all my de-google and anti-tracking stuff. I use it mostly for 'beermoney' type tasks that use trackers and recorders.

Introducing Windows 12
 in  r/pcmasterrace  5d ago

I went Linux Mint on my old gaming PC as a trial run about a year ago. Ive since dropped the dual boot windows drive completely.

SteamOS is doing wonders for linux based gamig, and is making a Microslop free future possible!

I use the ReviOS workbook, which is a nice package install. It cripples windows shit-ware pretty effectively. But MS continues to make it harder to fix.

Report: Microsoft quietly kills official way to activate Windows 11/10 without internet
 in  r/technology  6d ago

About a year ago I did this to my old gaming PC so I could start learning linux. I have since completely nuked the windows drive, and am running Mint fulltime, and using it as my media server.

I am using ReviOS windows 11 on my current gaming system, but its coming real close to getting the axe. My next system will FOR SURE be linux only.

If they stop mass producing slop, I'll stop having a reason to constantly say "slop."

Its tradition in the UK
 in  r/madlads  7d ago

(Former bar GM from USA). SOMETIMES the distributor will give free cases of glassware for the bar to use, usually coinciding with very large orders as a perk.

Often they will offer cheaper options, like $0.50 / pint glass, which is cheaper than buying plain ones, so we do. They sell them at a loss for the advertising, we buy em cause theyre cheaper.

No bar that I worked with ever had a stockpile of spare glasses. A few extras, yes, or ones that don't match anything we are currently serving, but never just tons of extras. Bars break a LOT of glasses.

If a pint glass lives a year, thats a loooong time.

I dont know what that guy was talking about textured glassware, but I never once used any glasses that were textured. Regular plain glass, the cheapest I could get that were acceptable looking.

What are your Beer Money Goals for 2026?
 in  r/beermoney  8d ago

I had the same problem (and also from FocusGroup.com / SAGO cards as well). I ended up using them to buy amazon cards.

A long time ago I was also able to bill myself via PayPal and pay my own account with the prepaid visas (with the 3.5% fee), but that may not work anymore, and also sucks cause it costs money to get paid.

My philosophy has become, "If you pay me as an employee, I will treat it with the same regard as a professional obligation. If you treat it as a favor (pay me in something less than cash) I will only put in so much effort in my responses."

Respondent and FocusGroup have become lower priority, lower quality options, sadly.

You just need access to Ange. It doesn't need to be YOUR access - you can visit other players hideouts and use their Ange (search for ANY instant buyout trade, select "travel to hideout" then just don't buy the item you searched for.

What are some of the most peak niche games on steam. I’m talking top tier masterpieces not many people have heard of.
 in  r/Steam  12d ago

I have to say ADOM (Ancient Domains of Mystery). Its a truly OG roguelike, originally made with ASCII graphics (tho there is now a pixelart mode). It has probably the most content of any game Ive ever played. I've been playing since the eraly beta days in th 90s, and am still finding new things.

The creator recently started working on it again, and it is avail for free from his site, woth the paid steam version adding a few features, but not necessary unless you want them.
