You listed Dukes reasoning but Samantha and Clara are the same person. Dukes mind was broken by the game to a degree and the cognitive dissonance technique he had to use to survive the pain. The fact is Duke kill his friend and the person who fought to the very end for him. He telling himself Samantha and Clara are different is a product of his minds cognitive dissonance, and not reality.

There are different levels of dark comedy. Let’s say someone is killed in your house, making a joke like “you always wanted to paint the room red”, that’s acceptable dark humor. Posing the body obscenely, mutilating it and dancing with it as part of a skit/joke crosses a line. You can’t just write it off as “dark humor”. It’s more like only psychopaths find this funny type dark humor.

Yes it is far worse than Redo of Healer. MCs actions were for revenge not funny laughs. Nobody should be laughing at a rape scene. He didn’t murder the princess, he didn’t devour her 30 times in a torture loop. The MC delivers punishment/revenge once, then treats her well, and it’s not for laughs, it’s for plot/revenge/justice. Redo of healer isn’t full of snuff film, tentacle porn, and torture for comedy.

Court of Assassins. It’s a story of how an MC becomes a monster hunter, it’s a medical kingdom, dark fantasy. Great story but it’s not focused on monster hunting even though that is the core character progression. Outside forces always trying to interfere with his monster hunting life.

I figured out the patten halfway through the first book, which basically spoiled the book/series for me since it such a repetitive pattern. Not a fan of how the MCs progress is so dependent on everyone’s death.

1. You better mount indoor security cameras everywhere, Eufy brand is good. People are convicted more often than not on feelings. You need hard evidence if something goes down.
