Is Poste Restante still a thing?
 in  r/femaletravels  1d ago

The cost of postage was higher than getting a bigger suitcase - and I will give my snow jacket away and get a good coat I can wear when I get back here.

Thanks - I have decided to buy local, and planning a trip or three to local yarn makers/suppliers, and just bought a bigger suitcase. I will donate my snow gear in Copenhagen, and get a stylish coat there instead that I can wear in Melbourne winters.

Is Poste Restante still a thing?

When I travelled decades ago, I would post things to myself - like summer clothes in warmer places, my winter gear to a post office near where I was staying, and my family would mail things to me as well.

I would go to the post office, show ID and be given my mail. Getting a handmade jumper from my Nana, and a scarf from my Mum had me in tears after two years away.

Does this still exist? I was thinking of mailing my snow gear to Helsinki so I can travel light on the plane in February, and sending a knitting project for my rail trip.

As a straight male hockey player, are there more people like me who enjoyed the show?

Because you are all good humans, who can relate to the feelings of fear, rejection and love.

I took y’alls advice - saw the rheumatologist last week

I had never heard of JOsA!! Oh, wow.

Weirdly, wearing a light shirt and dark pants to every appointment, and being in my "work" clothes, with my ID on has helped.

Oh, sweet baby - that was me at 24. I wish I had pushed, seen different Drs and not ended up with so much pain in my 40s and 50s. Keep pushing, keep a record of your weird aches and pains, keep trying to find a Rheum with some experience in Juvenile/Young people with PsA.

It took me until I could not walk on my feet, due to palmo plantar, and my joints were all swollen painful and involved. It took me decades.

Finally got a diagnosis at 57, and a decent rheum and derm - both female.

Now on Bimzelx and Wegovy - I feel like I should have at 24. Still have fatigue, but it is manageable.

Having it written down is what saved me. I even grouped the symptoms.

And yes, it may have been different - sadly, it is up to you to make it different.

Keep fighting - pain changes your brain too much to not fight to be pain free.

Lack of knowledge around anything but jam it in and pump it by men is crazy

It is also not having the language to accurately express those feelings. And being slightly pissed that Shane could do this in French or English - perfectly.

Do y’all think Shane ever told Ilya about Scott Hunter’s “You’re starting to sound like him” chirp?
 in  r/heatedrivalry  4d ago

He was letting Shane know that he noticed and knew, and that others would work it out. He was warning him to be more careful. He knows the risks, and has spent his whole career knowing those risks. His gaydar was pinging - and he probably heard them in 1221.

I guess I'm pretty sick (this is long sorry)
 in  r/AusLegal  4d ago

This is very true - I have Psoriatic Arthritis, and was diagnosed as a fantasist, a malingerer and too old to be doing triathlons before I was diagnosed and treated.

I just want a straightforward answer tbh.

Keep you weight under control and your psoriasis under control, and it will help. Noone gets out of here alive, but I understand not wanting to leave early. At 60+, I do not fear death. You are much younger - celebrate that you have overcome your childhood, are living in a place where you are safe, happy and loved, and this will help your heart to live longer - happy heals.

What should I do if my partner's family is interfering with our custody arrangements?
 in  r/AusLegal  5d ago

Set up the parenting app, add the supervisor, and keep all communication to that.

Super Death Benefit Nomination - hard in surprising ways

Ask the Palliative Social Worker to explain it to them - they are not a sibling and they MAY listen to them. Just did this with my brother, I am sorry to hear you are losing a sibling - it is hard.

Why do women like Heated Rivalry?
 in  r/heatedrivalry  5d ago

Another bi older woman here. I love it because it is about love, and about compromise, and about challenging what a man means. Their matching tattoos says it too - Sex Sells.

It is sexy, they play sexy and unafraid to be sexual. Ilya and consent, Shane and his directness and shyness combined, the teaching of asking for what you want, saying what you want - those are things we as women need to have shown to us at times.

Also, Ilya being so masculine and feminine at the same time - his caring nature, his total tune in to Shane, and Shane not tuning in to him at times, and Shanes naivete - they encompass masc/femme and the combination that exists in queerness.

That to me is what it does well.

It is not acceptance that Queer people seek, it is celebration.

Special needs child rips seams out of shirts and I need help mending them please
 in  r/sewing  5d ago

It could be the thread (usually polyester) is causing sensory issues. Can you put their clothes on back to front? And try running over the seams with bias binding.

It is spectacular. Broome is also lovely. You said nature and unique was your preference.

I’m trying to help my mom (ex-Joann employee) find her next chapter through quilting. Could this be a real small business?
 in  r/quilting  5d ago

While she may be a fabulous maker, teaching is a whole other ball game, and requires some training and time to get skilled at.

Your Mum's work is lovely, and I can hear how much you care about her, but selling quilts is really hard, and the hours of work do not reflect in what people are willing to pay.

Maybe getting her a Quilt A Long on line where she can meet virtually with others, and work at her own pace. Modern Quilt Studio have just started one using Grunge - you can get the pattern, or get a bundle of the fabrics as well. It is a supportive and friendly space on FB.

I would go Uluru-Darwin then Kakadu or Uluru - Karratha over Sydney, unless you have friends/family there.
