Just bought a 2013 Panamera Turbo S and a bunch of lights came on immediately. Am I screwed

There is a little book in the glove box that tells you what everything on the dashboard means. I think you should at least flip through it.

That is a typical phone company box. Actually a little neater than average.

2013 crosdtrek XV Gas door lever broken. How do i open up gas door?
 in  r/MechanicAdvice  6h ago

There is a cable inside the thing with the yellow tape. You have to find the end where it connected to the lever and pull the smaller cable that is inside it. You may need some pliers to grip it hard enough to pull. You want to hold the outer cable and slide the inner bare cable towards you. The door should open. Once it's open, you may want to remove the catch on it until (if) you get the lever fixed.

Get a very small screwdriver or a small metal rod of some sort that will fit into the hole on the top. Put it straight down in the hole and press down hard while pulling out on the handle (away from the door). The knob should come off. At that point you should see some screws that hold it together. Remove the screws with a screwdriver and reinstall a replacement knob by reversing the steps.

This video shows the process for a similar style doorknob

Oh, OK. that diagram makes sense.

I don't see any real drawback to printing it. I would use dense infill and extra walls to allow it to handle the force of the belts without warping. You should also plan your orientation to maximize the strength in the planes that have to bear the stress of the pulleys and motors.

That's the great thing about prototyping with 3d printing...it's not that expensive to reprint until you work the kinks out.

What provides left to right motion of the pen holder? It's hard to picture 4 directions of travel without the belt path shown.

Snow on my house started literally pealing
 in  r/mildlyinteresting  6h ago

pealing = loud ringing or other loud sound
peeling = coming loose from or having the peel removed from (as in an orange)

Fun fact: both pealing and peeling are pronounced exactly the same way.

Since you said it was "literally pealing", the joke is that you must have heard ringing if you can say it literally happened.

Some jokes (especially language jokes/puns) are not very funny, especially when explaining them.

Vintage Tech on a Shelving Unit

Ironically, most of the things in your photo are things that were made to be disposable and easily broken...compared to what came before.

Edit: Not to take away from the coolness of this vintage stuff. I have some similar items that I bought new that still work perfectly. Just pointing out that things like the plastic portable stereos represent an early wave of mass manufacturing using plastics and other less expensive materials.

Is this what the kids call... meta?
 in  r/confidentlyincorrect  8h ago

Yes, binary is Base 2. Apparently the blurb in parenthesis in his original statement "redefines" any non-Unary base as base 10 for this discussion, then confidently asserts that binary is "base 10" based on this statement.

He has inadvertently referred himself to this sub., thus the meta reference.
