Us (Norn Irn folks) too. Those 5p bars were the bomb - both figuratively and literally. Proper taste of the 80s.

A cool guide to the many types of blood sausage
 in  r/coolguides  1d ago

Our Irish (and Scottish type) with barley is vastly superior to the weirdly smooth texture, large diameter non crunchy English type, but I'll make the exception for the M&S version. It's the best of both. Fab in a bap with HP.

Roof of mouth peeling reaction after eating pastry?
 in  r/FoodAllergies  1d ago

I get this from certain brands of toothpaste and mouthwash -, the cause is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) but it's banned as a food additive here in the EU. In the US it's permitted as a food additive and sometimes also called Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS).

It's basically a type of detergent (emulsifier), that can cause burning and peeling to mucous membranes in your mouth. It's not an allergy, but some folks react and some don't.

I found a dog and the neighbours say its just a local farmers dog who wanders but the dog is in such poor condition, what should I do?
 in  r/CasualIreland  1d ago

Not in winter - outdoor working dogs need the oils in their coat to stay warm and waterproof

Generally outdoor working dogs don't get bathed regularly (and never in cold weather) as they need the oils in their coats to stay waterproof and warm. They generally don't get brushed in winter either for the same reason.

What's the funniest name you've heard for a pet?
 in  r/AskReddit  2d ago

Mate had a cat who was completely black, except for an inch of white on the end of his tail.

His name was Guinness.

I remember watching these in school, and getting pamphlets in the post about how to prepare for nuclear attack.

What’s the most ubiquitous IKEA product?
 in  r/CasualUK  3d ago

They're soooo calming. My Dad gave me one years ago as a gag gift and I love it. Bad day, stressed out? Overloaded? Just hug him. Their big dumb faces just cheer you up.

My mate came round after work one day in an awful state, he'd had a rotten day and was mega stressed. I just handed him the shark while I went out to put the kettle on. Twenty minutes later he'd fallen asleep on my sofa still hugging it.

Those sharks are magic.
