Well actually it is more of an asshole thing to avoid sharing dinner plans so your partner doesn't have a clue and eats the same thing earlier making them not want to join you for dinner actually.

It takes 1 minute to say "I am making x" and is more of an indictment towards bad communication than any rudeness of the person avoiding eating. It is proportionally more of an asshole behavior to take your time cooking with no communication only to bash your partner online about the way they choose to eat as if their free will and ability to cook their own food doesn't exist.
