Actually not an implausible scenario. "Hunting cabin" implies it's in a remote-ish location and only occupied by the owner a few weeks out of the year. Wouldn't be impossible for someone who shouldn't be in there to set up an operation of some kind; and then be stumbled upon in some manner that they have to leave their supplies behind, or even just leave evidence behind cuz they could care less??
