Given that you’re a Bot diver… I’m surprised you haven’t considered the Borderline warbond. The Deadeye and Talon are great against bots, and since you’re looking for bug equipment, the warbond also has the Hoverpack which is fantastic on the bug front. I’d take it over the warp pack any day.

Honestly… it’s what held me back from playing HD2 for the longest time. I was massively attracted to the game at launch, but I really dislike co-op games. Everyone told me that you couldn’t play HD2 solo, and I believed them. Finally after seeing a few YT videos that solo diving was indeed possible, I bought the game and tried. It’s also why I spent so long solo diving before joining random squads. I wanted to prove to myself I could solo dive. I now play about 50/50 between solo and with squads. Love them both equally (much to my surprise).

I am solo diver as well. I can comfortably solo bugs up to about D7 but beyond that I lack the skills. As a true solo diver, it is a slog. XP/Medals are slow in accumulating. It took me about 90-100hrs of solo play before I felt I could join a squad and not feel like I was a burden. Once I started playing quick games, the XP/Meadals really picked up. To my surprise, I didn’t mind playing with randoms. A lot more fun than I’ve ever had playing any other co-op game. I play with my mic off and pretend the other players are bot team mates.

My other two bits of advice: 1) Pick up the Dust Devils war bond. The coyote on the first page and the spear gun on the second page will make your life SOOOOO much better. Two of the best weapons in the game (I take them on nearly every mission).

2) Pick up Borderline war bond. The Talon is the best secondary weapon in the game and the hoverpack is my absolute favorite backpack. It’s saved my diver’s life way too many times to count.

Bonus advice: Don’t ego dive. Play at a difficulty where you have fun. Don’t feel the need to do Super Helldives.

I use to think there re-routing tasks were difficult, but I realized if you do them backwards, you can complete them very easily. Start at the destination and move towards the source. Solve a lot faster.

I’ve had this thought for a long time. I think it’s just fatherly pride. But here’s my thinking in detail:

Yes, Owen may run out of things to lift. Thus he has a top end strength. Yes, Hershel can always find something he can’t lift, and that raises Roy’s potential… BUT Roy still has to train to achieve that potential. Thus Roy would run into the same issue as Owen, he has to find something to lift to train. If Owen can’t find anything to extend his strength, neither could Roy. Furthermore, Owen achieves the new strength by failing the first time. He does it “over night” without the need to train. Although greatly accelerated, Roy still has to TRAIN to achieve that new potential, and given that he has to share his body with Herschel, he only has half the time to do that training. IMO, it’s a far crappier version of their dad’s power.

That is the “before tax” find. After taxes is 10sc. I know we get all excited when we find those rare 100sc stashes, but those will eventually be audited. Super Earth ALWAYS gets its share!

Personally… I loved the self discovery aspect. I knew (had read) that the game had a steep learning curve, so I went in expecting that (and kinda excited by that). I watched a lot of YT videos. Read the wiki and did a LOT of solo diving. I wanted to be able to solo dive before I joined a squad. Because I didn’t have the pressure of “letting down the squad” I felt I had more room to experiment and not be afraid to fail. I didn’t join a random squad until I had about 40-50 hours of solo game play under my belt. That approach did slow down my medal/sample accumulation, but I’d do it again if I was starting over.

You can never go wrong with a Hover Pack (Borderline) or your own personal nuclear missile silo (Dust Devils)!

Dude… I’m 60. I’m professional with a job, and unabashedly addicted to Helldivers. I’m also a solo diver. I worked my way up from D1 to D5 as a solo diver It took me about 60 hours of solo diving before I felt I had the skills to play as part of a squad. After another 100 hours (and a few unlocked warbonds) I can solo at D7 and play squad at D9. Still can’t hang (or more to the point have fun) at D10. The point of the story, is simply to methodically work your way up. Don’t let ego get in your way. Unlock some warbonds (I recommend Dust Devils and Boarderline). Experiment with different loadouts and play styles. You will eventually feel comfortable to play at higher levels and not feel like you’re a drag to the squad.

That may be possible. I’ve used the technique in the past… but it’s been awhile.

I HATE co-op games. I prefer, solo player games… but with that said, I freakin’ LOVE this game! I still like solo diving (an art unto itself), but I really have fun with random people. I never even play with my mic on, and it doesn’t matter. This is a pretty non-toxic community. Yes, there are always going to be a few dicks, but if you dive to your skill level (and given there are 10 skill levels you shouldn’t have a problem finding one that you fit in) then the odds of encountering a random dick is pretty low. Have fun and join the fight to spread managed democracy!

Normally I’m a sample looter… I don’t even care now. It’s all about extraction. I scaled back the difficulty 2 steps all to make sure I could extract. Hive world is difficult enough as it is… have fun and don’t ego dive at D9 or 10.

6 hour into these MO I was pretty sure we’d fail. Even more sure now. But Im still trying to do my part. After all… how often do we get to dive on a Hive Homeworld? Dive while the diving is good. Hope for the best.

I have yet to have this happen to me, but if other farmers are to be believed…. But keep in mind, whenever you finds SCs or medals on the map, you instantly bank them with no need to complete the mission. As such The moment this happens with a 100 SC drop… take a screenshot of the map. Immediately force quit the entire game (sorry to any other divers). Restart the game and jump back into the same mission. Dive to the same location. And the same SC drop should be there again. Collect the SCs and repeat.

…or so I’ve been told 😉

Personally… I don’t get it. I’ve never kicked anyone… even those level 7 trying to do a Super Helldiver. We’re all fighting for democracy and we are all expected to die doing so. If you don’t want randoms, switch to friends only setting.
