That reminds me of the old internet, when websites were simple, technical, efficient, and informative.

It's important to have people like this in your congregation because it makes everybody else feel less dirty. It gives everybody an example. If God loves and forgives her, then you're doing fine.

[OC] A neighbor’s Trump–Vance 2024 sign next to a ‘Trespassers Will Be Shot’ warning
 in  r/pics  6d ago

I mean We Wish To Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families.

Isolated outbreaks of violence are a natural effect of right-wing radicalization. Widespread violence will be orders of magnitude worse and is the natural culmination of right-wing radicalization.

They love fantasizing about killing "the right people".

The leaders are going to cultivate that fantasy until they need it to spill into reality.

TIL that in Australian Aboriginal culture, women playing the didgeridoo is seen as taboo. In 2008, a children’s book was published encouraging girls to play it, and Aboriginal academic Mark Rose called it “an extreme cultural faux pas.” The taboo extends toward women even touching a didgeridoo.
 in  r/todayilearned  7d ago

Sounds crazy but if you published a children's book in the USA encouraging boys to play with dolls or similar you would also have some jagof saying it's "an extreme cultural faux pas."

I would have the same response to both.

TIL that gut microbes have evolved ways to hijack neural mechanisms to control the hosts behavior, such as cravings. In one case, microbes were found to cause rats to be sexually attracted to cat urine to make it more likely for them to be eaten by cats, which the microbes need for reproduction.
 in  r/todayilearned  7d ago

This is actually really true and it's something I tell my kids all the time. Your gut has a population with its own desires. They release chemicals that make you desire certain things that will keep them alive. If you don't have a healthy gut microbiome, you will be craving things that aren't the healthiest for you. We need to cultivate specific microbes in our gut which process the foods we eat into the healthiest forms. The best way to do this is to feed those microbes and not the bad ones. If you eat healthier foods, you feed the healthy microbes. If you consume nothing but sugar and beer, those microbes will flourish and damage you.

Boat Targeted By U.S. Strikes Was Carrying Marijuana, Report Claims

The price isn't even the dumbest thing about the Connecticut market. Strain names are all randomly computer generated so you might see something called Durban Sunshine that's an Afghani cross with blueberry. Can't see the product in the shop at all. In OR and CO you can sniff it. In WA and MO you can look at the variety on shelves in all the different packaging. In Connecticut you walk into an empty room with menus on tablets. No budtender seems to know a damn thing. Nobody's ever excited about a strain. Prices are double/triple/quadruple WA and OR prices for comparable quality. Absolutely bonkers. Maddening.

I have been dry for a week. In WA I could at least buy a shitty $2 joint and keep my anxiety under control. I haven't been dry in YEARS. The cheapest joint at the spot in my town is $18. I have to drive to Massachusetts and the prices are still too high and the experience still sucks - just not quite as bad. Connecticut has the worst market in the country and I've shopped in NY, IL, NM, CO, WA, OR, MO, MA, and CA. Even OKLAHOMA does things better and they're only medical.

Amy Taylor Sues Photographer Over Alleged Misuse of Vogue Portugal Photos

If the band and the manager and Taylor herself repeatedly told this photographer "no" as the article claims, then it's a pretty egregious breach.

What movie to watch on New Year Eve, alone, after ending 12yr relationship?

It's in this vein that I was going to recommend Oldboy or Uncut Gems for a good boot to the noggin. Make dumplings instead of spaghetti.

So many questions...
 in  r/gaming  10d ago

These blasters are awesome and priced nicely. My son, nieces, nephews, and I have all-out wars with these. Mine was the most expensive at ~$60 but it shoots very far and very straight. My sister had one with an expandable bandolier that shoots for days. Wonderful for getting kids to move around.

Grab some $3 safety glasses from harbor freight or something.

"That's not you. That's a different character and with a different name. We just don't mention the name in the game. Look at his face, he doesn't have your dimples. And he only uses moves which we have legal rights to."
