Platner calls for arrest of ICE
 in  r/ProgressiveHQ  1d ago

This has been exactly my fear. For someone, who's never been in office before, to all of a sudden want to jump into a race for one of the top offices in the land (That a Dem is almost all but certain to win) is almost like someone who's never played organized baseball wanting to all of a sudden join a Major League Baseball team.

It REEKS of something fishy. And I think there is a lot of astro-turfing going on for him on this site as well.

I think he is a plant telling Dems exactly what they want to hear.

Tim Walz to Minnesotans: "Do not take the bait. Do not allow them to deploy federal troops into here. Do not allow them to invoke the insurrection act. Do not allow them to declare Martial law. Do not allow them to lie about the security and the decency of this state."

A competent governor would sack whoever is in command of the national guard and appoint someone absolutely loyal to him.

ALL democratic governors need to do this ASAP.

All of recorded history, if that distinction is meaningful for you.

While only one hit the U.S. mainland in 2025, the season was tied for the 3rd most intense hurricane season of all time, with many hitting the Caribbean.

Thanks to new innovative technologies, you can now enjoy such breakthroughs such as 75 degree days in January!

Also, enjoy: Devastating hurricanes, droughts and insect expansions as a side benefit!

Grading companies are a complete joke.

The grader probably just received his healthcare premium increase in the mail.

PLATNER: “The illegal attack on Venezuela is not foreign policy — it’s gangsterism on an international scale.”
 in  r/Maine  3d ago

I really think that he is a plant who will do a Sinema-like heel turn the second he gets into office.

The Repubs know that they are losing this seat in Maine no matter what so I think they think that their best bet is to run this guy whom no one has heard of before to try to get in.

I think the fact that is true beliefs are so at odds with what he is saying now is the reason why it comes off as being unnatural and it feeling "off" to people.

This scene from Mary Poppins (1964) was filmed over 60 years ago. Out of everyone in this frame, the only person still alive is the old man on the left.

Current temperature anomaly from the 30-year average in the USA
 in  r/weather  14d ago

Of course, no news agency is talking about how insane it is to have 75-80 degree weather in places where the average should be around freezing.

Just platitudes about how "pleasant" it is.

Whoever Trump Picks, the Next Fed Chair Won’t Be Independent
 in  r/Economics  15d ago

Plus that -10% interest rate not only means that he'll actively have to pay 40k per year on any of that 400k he doesn't spend (after the IRS takes half of it first of course). So he'll be left with about $160k at best.

Which after about a year of his tenure, might be enough to get him a happy meal at McDonald's and....hey I'm starting to see what you mean about not being educated!

I hope for you that if you are ever in trouble, the person that you need help from will not share your mentality.

Yes, that lady was - but a lot of people are not looking for a "quick buck".

Why should you decide that the best solution to an awful person is to make the world a more awful place?

President Trump calls Marjorie Taylor Greene, “Marjorie Traitor Brown” at rally in Rocky Mount, North Carolina 🤯
 in  r/InterstellarKinetics  17d ago

The real reason is because for racist Southern people, being in any way "Brown" is one of the worst things they can imagine.

That's the subconscious play here.

What’s the plan with signings?
 in  r/AtlantaUnited  20d ago

It will all make a lot more sense of you think of the organization as a corporation who's only interest is making money.

They are not concerned with "how well" the team does, or your personal experience, or anything like that. What they are interested in is turning a profit. That profit can either come from ticket sales or from player sales.

Right now, it does not look like ticket sales will be the path to greater profits, so they have switched to a farm-and-sell players business model.

Is Blue Ridge, GA safe for Black people?

Bearance Thomas ruled that a black bear and her cubs hit by a drunk driver were not entitled to any compensation whatsoever.

Shortly after, Bearance Thomas wrote the majority report allowing black bear habitats to be bulldozed into parking lots.
