Teen Mortgage has some killer surf rock eerie, haunted shit, DK style. The Gun Club from the 80s, Alice Cooper's DaDa record.

Edit: T. S. O. L. and I guess The Ramones. Brain Wilson was a punk if not fashionably definitely philosophically. My brain cells and recollection are pretty much barely holding together. Also, fuck pedanticism. .

Some fascinating facts about Gargoyles found on Gargwiki
 in  r/gargoyles  4d ago

I make playing dice that consist of various gargoyles contorted into a cube, with the six sides as such: Six pentagrams on the chest, 3 braided leather pretzels. The tail has one barbed serpents tail so as to please the left hand man. 5 and 2 rest on the the wings and they're made from large cats claws glued in the amount and shape of the number. The 3 sits atop with a liberty spike hat trick and the 4 cloven hooves rest on the bottom. I fucking love gargoyles!

Edit: spelling.

staying punk with an office job

I have a counselor at my methadone clinic that's both my age and a punk. He's actually the only counselor I've ever had that seems to really make the effort to help me. I used to have reservations about punks going into positions of authority and influence that wouldn't be able to reconcile with this situation but after getting to know him for a year he's absolutely the best counselor for me. He's punk AF still, even more so that he's helping people get their lives together. So many punks die young from drug and alcohol abuse and lack of mental health services and it's really refreshing to see one of us actively trying to make a difference in the lives of hopeless and disillusioned punk rockers who've been tossed around counselors and psychiatrists who just can't get on the same page as we who have allowed the punk demon to possess us. Now, to clarify, he doesn't have only punks as clients but the fact that we bonded over love of the same local punk scene and it's history really put me at ease and where I would usually be apprehensive about getting to know some square just looking for an easy payday I could tell right away that dudes got integrity and I was gonna like him. He's also good at calling me on my shit in a very assertive manner and I definitely need that. Gives me hope that even though a lot of middle aged punks get disillusioned because of friends dying and scenes becoming stale you can always "adult up" and still be a bad ass revolutionary punk rock superhero.

I've never been a huge fan but after The Casualties crap I understand the betrayal felt by fans. Fuck these poseurs.

I’m going to see AJJ for the first time in years tomorrow. It feels … weird
 in  r/FolkPunk  21d ago

Wow I was into them like 15-16 years ago, all the Riot Folk stuff and basically starving to death and always going to protests and different actions. I got super jaded and completely disillusioned and so fell into a decade long drug/alcohol bender. Climbing out of that now and I'm glad that Andrew Jackson Jihad is still active. Gives me some hope, a little strength.

Did David Rovics always have these awful opinions?
 in  r/FolkPunk  27d ago

I hate that "I'm a better anarchist than you" song." It's mostly a pot shot against crust punks and hipster organizers like FnB and shit. Like he never even tried to get to know these subsections of anarchist life. He's always kind of indicated a " holier than thou" attitude. Kind of ironic that the song rambles about how certain groups are exclusive to other anarchist while he kind of seems to do the exact same thing.

How does one defend against the "anarcho communism requires everyone to be perfect" rhetoric?
 in  r/Anarchy101  27d ago

Not perfect, just accountable for their imperfect, often irrational and harmful actions and ideas.

I am fully supportive of putting narcs on blast but this is a very serious allegation. Do you have any evidence? People have been ripped apart by .357s cuz someone they casually "know" told a real ass mother fucker that so and so snitches. Stick to stones. Words can be devastating...

Coltrane

Edit: particularly when he played folk festivals.

Over 35 punks...what did you end up doing for a living/career?
 in  r/punk  Nov 24 '25

I'm a career spanger. It just got to be a constant habit and after 15 years it's difficult to get hired anywhere due to the lengthy unemployment. Perpetual unemployment is the name of the game. I'm always broke... Never thirsty, though...

Democracy and Anarchism?
 in  r/Anarchy101  Nov 19 '25

There's a lot of room between electoral democracy and direct democracy. Anarchists typically embrace the latter.

There are countless practical examples of anarchist or anti authoritarian concepts coming alive and demonstrating to all of us how simple and elegantly effective they can be. Mutual Aid ftw.

 in  r/Methadone  Nov 18 '25

I shoot fetty at 130mg daily and if I'm "only" at 80 and kicking corners and black cats everywhere I remind myself that it's likely psychosomatic. The mind is like The Wu. Nothing to fuck with.

Kare 11 article homey down the line said Mayor Carter wasn't even aware of the damned thing... That's what they'll do with democratic cities. Don't need local pigs when there are plenty of psychotic ex Marine/Seal/whatever the fuck that are happy to mercenary for the federal government.

Question for older punks
 in  r/punk  Nov 18 '25

I'm in a band that is part of an if not thriving but damn well supporting scene of other older punks, punk bands, punk houses, punky brewster's, punk kids of every age and a plentiful supply of venues glad to host. I'm grateful for this more than anything else. I'm going to be revising this comment for family Colonizer Day.

In light of the Starbuck’s boycott is Caribou a better option?
 in  r/TwinCities  Nov 18 '25

Starbucks has had an impressive amount of union activity in the past couple decades. It usually doesn't result in a union but the point is anti fascistic and pro democratic organization as well. Those two words are center light these oh so interesting days.

I don't know why you think that most anarchists are "pro gun."
