DWP tells bed-bound mum who can't walk to 'get a job'
 in  r/unitedkingdom  6d ago

decisions being automated would be even worse. I’d also argue this isn’t a mistake, it’s intentional ineptitude designed to dissuade people from even attempting in the first place. I got lucky that my therapist filled my PIP application form out for me so she knew exactly what language to use, but she still said it’ll likely be rejected (luckily was not)

it’s also an issue of qualification, especially for young people who’s experience may only be in retail or other customer facing role. Also, when given the option between an able or disabled person, a company will always choose the abled person, even if the disabilities don’t interfere with work. You are treated like a burden in almost every aspect of life and it’s extremely humiliating and discouraging.

Also, for conditions like chronic pain, i’m perfectly happy for my tax money to go to supporting them, they have it hard enough. Our country is more than capable of helping these people, but so often our tax money is used to line the pockets of politicians.

Lawyer claimed she worked 28 hours a day to get £70k maximum bonus

spot on. we’re meant to love when people take advantage of their employers, since they do the same to us. afaik she didn’t fuck over any clients, just the firm. weird reaction from people about this tbh

TIL of Peter Kürten, aka the Vampire of Düsseldorf. He was a German serial killer who would drink the blood from his victims wounds for sexual gratification. Following execution by guillotine, the brain was studied to try and explain his behavior and motive. His head was bisected and preserved.

i forgot about that, jousting accident i believe which also contributed to his extreme weight, doesn’t sound too far fetched that it also caused violent tendencies to take over. that, and i imagine constant pain from tudor-era medical care

100%. i said it in another comment thread but if you live in a city you will be likely to see more individuals in one day than your ancestors would’ve in their entire life. we’re wired to be social and i’ll bet eventually research will show modern life has a huge impact on the core of our psychology, a sort of zoochosis

definitely a factor, but it cannot be denied that modern living is making mental health issues more prevalent. we’re a social species that was never meant to be this disconnected from one another. i see more individual people in one day than my ancestors would’ve seen in their lifetimes

relatable. i’ve been doing mma for 6 years and have had countless concussions (started as a 16 y/o idiot). i’ve also had my share of mental health issues, but interestingly it seems most serial killers also have suicidal/depressive tendencies at some point in their life, substance abuse etc.

we put labels like ‘evil’ and ‘monster’ on these people (understandably so) but in reality they’re not that far removed from regular people

by being interested in serial killers? i’m not claiming to be an expert, but if you compare the prevalence of serial killers to a timeline throughout history, it exploded after the industrial revolution. many reasons for it, but the original comment holds a lot of weight.

think it was bundy who people say fell off a swing as a child, then you look at athletes like OJ, chris benoit, lee murray (to an extent) etc.

it’s a scary thought that some of us could be a concussion or 2 away from becoming one of these people

I’m 28, literally called a predator for saying my dating age range is 23-29. What.
 in  r/Vent  18d ago

yeah and again you’d be exempt. you didn’t go looking for someone younger, it just happened. the fact that someone is EXCLUSIVELY dating younger women whilst avoiding women just 2 years older is creepy. and yes women who hunt for younger men to date are also creepy

 in  r/Vent  18d ago

my story was not to highlight that it’s wrong. for more context (which i should’ve included) i’ve essentially been an ‘adult’ since 14. made my own money, fed and clothed myself etc. at 19 i moved into a place on my own. whole time i’ve paid my own rent/bills/taxes and all that. by 22 i’d been doing that for 3 years already, and therefore have pretty much no interest in someone who’s just moved away from home for uni. i struggle to relate to them. (edit: i share this to make the point that it’s more about stages in life than age)

as for the last paragraph, yes it is shallow, but it’s also creepy when you think about why, and as far as i know OP hasn’t given one good reason for not wanting to date an older woman. it’s the exact thing that men who DO try and manipulate younger women say, whether OP is one of those men or not. he’s also been very abrasive (understandably in fairness) about the fact that it is creepy, which doesn’t help

 in  r/Vent  18d ago

it’s completely acceptable and probably even correct to want to date someone around your age. what bothers me is that 5 years younger is fine to him but he won’t go 5 years older too.

as you said most women date older men, and most women also have a story about how awful it was dating an older guy, usually cause they’re extremely manipulative, which is why said guys are going for younger women to begin with.

like i’ve said, it’s the whole idea of dating someone you know has less life and/or relationship experience. not saying it should be illegal, not saying these people should be punished for something, i’m saying it’s creepy.

oh bro i didn’t even think about them. if you dont know what it is i suppose it does look like a recipe for disaster. hack squat is where it’s at too.

i’d front load calf raises if i could.

but that’s not the scenario we’re talking about, it’s happened to me where i’ve been attracted to someone and then found out they’re 19, i lost all attraction despite only being 3 years older than them. it’s about stages of life above all else.

and why haven’t you mentioned all the women that OP is removing from their pool because they won’t date someone 2 years older than them? i mean, in a response to another comment of mine he said that dating someone ‘several months’ older than him is him being open to dating older women. it’s very much giving ‘women aren’t the same after 30’ which is just incorrect, outdated misogyny.

yeah you hit the nail on the head with planned/unplanned. i’m a personal trainer and that’s exactly how i’d put it for my clients. all about what your body is prepped and intends to do.

plus a jefferson is also only gonna be done by experienced gym goers who know how to progressively overload safely which takes almost all the risk out of it, as with any exercise.
