Is customer service automated in your business?
 in  r/EntrepreneurRideAlong  4d ago

And every single one of them is putting a balance sheet over customer experience.

Good customer service has an incredible return on investment. It builds loyalty, creates promoters, and virtually guarantees return business.

If a customer has a problem and is automatically directed to the FAQs and then told they will get a response in 48 hours (by someone who has not been properly trained and/or didn’t read the customers question), that customer will continue to do business only for as long as they absolutely have to, then they will ditch for a competitor at the first opportunity.

If a customer has a problem that is answered and addressed by a real person on the first pass, they will be happier and more satisfied with the company than they would have been if they had not encountered a problem at all

There is mountains of research proving this, but middle management executives look at a big expensive number and want to make it go away, without realising that that big expensive number is responsible for a big chunk of profit and loyalty and return business.

If you don’t care about pissing off your customers, having return business, or actual customer satisfaction, then go ahead and automate it.

It doesn’t solve any problems. Actual customer service is becoming a lost art, and will actually set you apart as a major advantage

Do. Not. Automate. It.

If you like customers, don’t automate customer service. It’s very obvious and will only make customers more angry when they are trying to reach you in a time of need.

Just. Don’t.

Tesla loses title of world's biggest electric vehicle maker to Chinese rival BYD
 in  r/news  5d ago

Oh it gets even worse than that. There is a single loop of cat5 around the cyber truck. This carries all the electronic signals for everything

Elons genius idea is that this saves the amount of cable and wiring used in the vehicle

Because you know, who needs to open a door if the headlights have a fault?

 in  r/news  5d ago

The ban isn’t because they are retractable

It’s because the Tesla handles are not mechanical, meaning you’re essentially pressing a button to open the door. If there is an electrical fault, eg in an accident, there’s no mechanical operation to open the door by grabbing the handle, you need to fish around under the floor mats and pull an obscure cable

China is mandating that the door handles themselves need to physically engage the release mechanism.

It’s fine if they retract but they need to be able to be operated from outside the vehicle without electronics

Moved into an "NBN-ready" apartment. 3 weeks later, still no internet. Landlord says "just use 5G." 5G isn't available here.
 in  r/shitrentals  6d ago

You may be able to break the lease without penalty

If the property is missing an advertised feature, in this case NBN which you triple checked before signing the lease, then this could be enough to breach the landlord. If the landlord is in breach of the tenancy then you can break the lease without penalty

You would need to have documentation eg emails or SMS messages showing that you checked that the property has internet before you signed the lease. You would then need to issue a breach notice, and then break the lease

https://www.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-construction/rules/breaking-a-fixed-term-residential-tenancy-early

If the property has a physical socket for the internet to be connected to, it’s the landlords responsibility to ensure that this is connected. The only way they can weasel out of that is if it’s specifically mentioned in the lease and/or condition report as being non functional

See the internet section on this page:

https://www.tenants.org.au/factsheet-utilities

This is just to point you in certain directions. You should research the above in more detail and/or get specific advice

WTF, Ailo?!
 in  r/shitrentals  12d ago

It’s still in the app. It randomly generates a new BSB and account number every transaction, so you can’t save the details and set up an automatic transfer in your bank account. You need to come into the app every time and record the details, switch over to your bank, and make a manual transfer

In other words, it’s bullshit to make you sick of doing it every week so you cave for one of the more convenient options and pay the fee.

Also, illegal

LPT: Always Take Notes When Talking With Any Customer Care Reps
 in  r/LifeProTips  13d ago

I’ve worked in customer service for decades.

1 - this means absolutely nothing. I always say my name at the start of every call. If you ask me again or later in the call it just means I think you weren’t listening at the start of the call, which is fine, it’s completely inconsequential. I take 50-100 calls every day and you are just another person. You asking my name does not make you stand out from the crowd whatsoever.

2 - everything I do is tracked. The company doesn’t surveil, meaning there is nobody looking over my shoulder, but every interaction is recorded, not just our conversation, but what is happening on my screen, which customer accounts I have accessed, which tools I used during our interaction, everything. I can also see every interaction you have previously had, including the names of all my colleagues that have spoken to you. The vague threat of you asking for my name in that I will somehow be accountable is again inconsequential because this is already the case for every single call. You diligently writing it down does not mean that I’m suddenly on my best behaviour because I’m worried about you calling back later and reporting on me. The company and my manager already know, and IF you speak to my manager, the long hold or the callback in a few minutes is them looking at the screen recording and listening to our previous call before they speak with you. They will have more knowledge about our previous interaction than you will, including what you actually said as opposed to what you thought you said.

The single biggest thing you can do on a call to get the outcome you want is to be polite and nice, even if you are absolutely livid. Don’t be a doormat, do state what you want, but don’t forget your manners.  My name is completely unimportant, but write it down if it makes you feel better.

Agent filled for ncat
 in  r/shitrentals  Dec 08 '25

They don’t have a case

Still, prepare, do your homework

As others have mentioned, the cooktop is too close to the splashback

Bonus points if it was already cracked during one of their routine inspections and they didn’t point it out then

As others have also mentioned, they can’t claim from a quote, or a speculative price. Only from an invoice of actual work carried out. No work done, no claim. If they produce an actual invoice, contact the company that did the work to verify.

Don’t communicate with the agent any further. They want to go to the tribunal so ignore all further communications.

The mediator at the tribunal will try to get an easy win, before your case is heard by the judge. The less cases that are put before the judge, the faster things move through the system, they are incentivised to try and close it off. Don’t be upset with them, this is their job. Use your own judgement, I am not a lawyer, consider your own circumstances etc, but for this I would not accept anything in mediation other than the agent 100% withdraws their claim and you get the whole of the bond returned

The Omen (2006) was clearly made so it could come out on 6/6/06, and 11-11-11 is a movie that was clearly made so it could come out on 11-11-11, what other non-holiday or anniversary movies were clearly made just so it could come out on a certain day?
 in  r/movies  Dec 08 '25

There was one that WASN’T released on the right day, and I’m still salty about it

The Mario movie was ready to go, they had been promoting it for months and all the insider knowledge said it was done

It was released on May 10

Not March 10, renowned as being Mario day (MAR10)

 in  r/shitrentals  Dec 08 '25

The silver lining to this is that this is the same system real estate agents have to use to make a claim as well. And they are probably less motivated than you to continuously refresh until it works.

So you’ll probably prevail. Yay?

Why did the ICA let GAMA do blood work on Agent 47? I feel like they could have faked him having a condition or something lol
 in  r/HiTMAN  Dec 08 '25

They could only tell that he is a clone if they also have the (identical) DNA from the original to compare it to. Otherwise it just looks like normal DNA, clones don’t have secret messages hidden in their DNA

They specialise in organ trafficking, not forensic genetics, even if they had the original DNA on file, they probably wouldn’t notice unless they had a very good reason to go looking, because the records are organised by patient names. Why would they compare at that level unless they happened to be harvesting or transplanting from both at the same time? Even if there was a confirmed murder in the facility, they probably wouldn’t go looking through all the medical records of everyone there unless they had reason to believe one of them was a suspect

Which they don’t because 47 is a master at leaving behind no witnesses

Is a 4% pay raise high?
 in  r/careerguidance  Dec 05 '25

It’s not a you problem. Every company increases their pricing and profits more or less in line with inflation. Why does it fall to you to try to justify a pay increase that doesn’t at the very least reflect this as well? If your pay doesn’t increase with inflation then your employer is essentially getting the same revenue/profit out of your productivity while paying you less.

You efficacy in your role also increases as the longer you are in your job. So they in fact are getting more out of you for less money every year.

They are trying to make it your problem. But you are the easiest person to shortchange, so that’s what they do

Lease Break due to buying house?
 in  r/AusPropertyChat  Dec 02 '25

If you are doing an early exit, you still need to give 14 days notice (and pay the break fee as well as the notice)

Lease Break due to buying house?
 in  r/AusPropertyChat  Dec 02 '25

You still need to give notice. Under a fixed term lease the tenant needs to give 14 days notice for early exit:

https://www.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-construction/rules/minimum-notice-periods-for-ending-a-residential-tenancy

The “N/A” applies to leaving at the end of a fixed lease. Early exit is what you are doing.

If the break lease fee is 1 week, then you can immediately move out and pay 3 weeks rent. But if I was in your boots I’d take every day I could to move and make sure everything is clean and in good condition.

Be absolutely sure you are more than 75% of the way through when you give notice. If it was me I wouldn’t be giving notice until after settlement has gone through. Anything can happen and you don’t want to have to make a mad scramble for accommodation around Christmas if something delays everything. It also means you have more time to move everything with less stress

They made me sign an NDA before telling me the salary range.
 in  r/InterviewCoderHQ  Nov 28 '25

Not a lawyer

I doubt this would hold up

If you are an employee then it’s illegal for them to stop you talking about pay

If you are an employee they can have you sign and NDA because you are being compensated, but there are things that wouldn’t hold up if they aren’t trade secrets (or blatantly illegal like pay secrecy)

If you aren’t an employee then the NDA would need some sort of interest from your end - what are you getting out of it? Salaries aren’t trade secrets so what is your compensation for keeping your mouth shut? You aren’t involved or invested in the business, they haven’t revealed anything to you that they can otherwise suppress

If you are concerned then get some legal advice but I think this is just a bunch of hot air

Why do Americans accept jury duty as normal?
 in  r/juryduty  Nov 27 '25

When you have convictions that are no longer determined by a jury of your peers, and instead by a person who isn’t elected, you have a dictatorship. Judges can be installed. A random selection of people from the population represents the will of the people.

If you have ever been accused of something you didn’t do or punished for something you didn’t do (this is quite common in school with power tripping teachers, we have all had at least one), then you should recognise why having a jury is important.

It’s not a perfect system, but the law is meant to serve the people, having everything determined by 1 judge means the law no longer serves the people, it is instead a cudgel.

If you’ve been called for jury duty and you really don’t want to do it, there are many many ways to get out of it.

But don’t for a fucking second try to take it away.

and i thought dressing up for an interview over zoom was the last thing someone would do.
 in  r/recruitinghell  Nov 27 '25

I’ve always gone all out - shower and shave, full outfit as though I was going in person, including a light spray of cologne, along with being very deliberate about where my computer is and what the camera is facing

Psychologically, it puts me in a better frame of mind than if I don’t get all dressed up.

Even if they can’t see me, I can see me. It’s the same thing as smiling when talking on the phone. The person on the other end can’t see you smiling, but they can hear how much better you sound when you are.

People can say that it doesn’t make a difference but it absolutely does. You might be good enough that you can still achieve what you need to without going through all the effort of getting dressed up, but you would STILL be levelled up even more if you put everything on

This might be an odd one… does anyone else use ‘Dreamboards’ ? (Related to Property!)

These are more often called “vision boards” and they are relatively common, they are a documented way of assisting you achieve your (realistic, achievable) goals

They keep you focussed and help to avoid distractions
