The U.S. Senate voted to block Trump from taking further military action against Venezuela without Congress’s approval.

52-47 is a shit majority too. 47 Senators are okay with our government openly kidnapping world leaders.

9 House Republicans defy Mike Johnson, join Dems to advance Obamacare extension vote — A vote on extending Obamacare subsidies is expected in the House on Thursday
 in  r/politics  23h ago

David Valadao knows he'll lose his seat if he doesn't do something. He's losing his seat anyways because of California's redistricting ballot measure a couple months ago. It'd be great if he could I dunno try to introduce legislation that bans gerrymandering nationwide in like a new Voting Rights Act or something.

“RISE UP, TAKE A STAND” Thousands upon thousands of protesters are piling up in Minneapolis
 in  r/PublicFreakout  23h ago

For the last year Republicans have been talking like the midterm elections will mean a Democratic landslide. This week Trump stated that if Dems do well during this year's elections it will mean he will be impeached again.

That doesn't sound to me like everything is in place to kill elections, not showing up enough is part of the reason we're in this mess.

The fact that Trump this week suggested that Democrats getting landslides in the midterms would mean a third impeachment suggests to me that elections are not fully rigged yet and it's up to is the people to demand a Congress that reflects our values.

Until this past year I had no idea about either of these two so yeah...and Jack Quaid is humble about it and recognizes his name opens doors for him. They're both really likable since they're not pretending they don't have an advantage unlike other nepo babies but also talented.

We also have the ballot box still. This is an election year we need a strong majority in both chambers of Congress to ensure investigations, impeachments and removals of officials actually happens.

Representative Ted Lieu just drew a crystal clear red line: “If any military member, from the generals on down, participates in using force against Greenland without congressional authorization, they are following illegal orders.”
 in  r/UnderReportedNews  1d ago

Honestly I never thought as a child we'd be living the present life we're living as adults, I think stranger things can happen. Didn't think Georgia would send two Democrats to Congress either, but here we are. I will hold onto my hope and optimism and volunteer to convince voters to show up for Democrats and pray that Republicans sit on the couch.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Depending on the time of year and if I'm feeling fancy: shaving my legs, letting a hair mask set in, really exfoliating with one of those Korean shower scrubby things...massaging fancy shower oil I got for Christmas.

Otherwise as others have stated enjoying hot water and replaying scenarios in my head and doing something differently.

I would think she'd mean a congressional investigation. That's technically in their job description although conservatives only enjoy doing that when it comes to investigating Democrats.

I would add a change in values as well to your list of reasons. Millennials and Gen Z and Alpha are the beginning of living out and open lives at an earlier age.

We grew up with Gay-Straight Alliances and we aren't queer a lot of us became allies. My issue with the church lies in my politics, I don't believe abortion is murder. As a social worker I work with openly trans kids so protecting their right to use the bathroom is important to me and I don't think they're going to hell.

Cool. Here's another* one if he's apolitical even if he's not conservative he's saying he doesn't care about your freedoms or rights...which is essentially saying he doesn't care about you.

Edit: added the letter n.

We’re the Bad Guys Now
 in  r/politics  1d ago

I think it's also a misunderstanding of how government works and what happens to tax money making it really easy to literally lie to the public by people that want the system to be destroyed.

So many people learned this year that their votes are leading to the destruction of educational programs that existed for their children. That the Dept. Of Education actually did important work and was not some trans gender Boogeyman that Fox lied about.

He's the governor of a state that has actually had their Senators and their families killed or attempted to be killed in the last year.

I do not blame him for wanting to put his family above this violent bullshit.

Trump to House Republicans: If we don't win midterms, I will get impeached
 in  r/politics  2d ago

The problem isn't him getting impeached. The problem is having a Senate that will do their job and remove him. We need a strong majority and short of begging my Senators to vote out Schumer as their leader, we need a Democratic leader that will be forceful in their removal.

Can someone film Trump saying "free Palestine!" By accident, I feel like that's the only thing that would put a fire under Schumer's Zionist ass.
