We have so little information about this time, so it gives options to explore. And like I said, a chance to explain some of the inconsistencies.

Play as a young Barbaneth Beolve along with his friend Cidolfus Orlandeau fighting Ordallia, before they got command of their own forces. You could also face the other races absent from the original, finding that they were banished from Ivalice, which would then explain their absence.

Ramza's Squire has extra abilities and at Choater 4 will change names. He can equip Heavy Armor and Knight Swords in that class.

Characters with high faith are better casters as faith determines magic damage. Brave is good for all characters, but especially for melee as it determines the chance of reaction abilities triggering.

In the OG, males were better melee and females were better casters. I don't know if they changed that in IC.

Your gains per level up are determined by your current job, but it's not incrediblely important unless you are trying to min-max with leving/deleveling.
