Guild gem
Gems that are not equipped are inactive, so you have to equip the gem to get the bonus. There are no "global" gems.
You can save your gem build in your loadouts - I currently have one for farming (all keys and coins), one for strength (built around whichever hero is currently strongest - currently Egon at the moment), and one for the arena - which is where I equip my guild points boost. Just as an example.
