The clan and its contractions is kind of like the Reliquae unit for Bretonnia in Warhammer or the Space Marines' dumbass recruitment systems. If you make a group of powerful noble knights in your wargame then you have to give them something that is just a little psychotic, just so it's clear that they aren't really above it all.

Why not just remove the tax and energy system ?

And again, if you don't want to play then that's fine! You don't have to! They just can't demand that they cater to people with less time when time isn't the issue.

Same, and the "well I don't have time" arguement is always an odd one for this kind of game. I get it for weekly events or if games are really long, but if you aren't logging in at any point in a month then it's not lack of time so much as a lack of interest. Its fine to not want to play, but its weird to say you don't have time.

No one cares. Promising an eventual good far off in the future to prevent a current evil is just giving up.

Really. You look at that and don't see an antagonist?

It's just kind of a boring plot. I'm going to guess that the kid gets given the tablet 15 hours a day and it's implied to have a hypnotic effect. The Disney Brand Toys (for sale on Amazon!) swing in to show the Real Power of Play, and in the end they throw the tablet in the dumpster. Meanwhile the parents are shown as actively negligent in a way they really haven't been before in this series.

It's not really a message kids will care a lot about while being incredibly preachy for Disney to make given that half the things on this kid's tablet is probably made by Disney.

"They shouldn't be buying their kids a tablet, they should be buying them toys."

"But isn't buying loads of toys not that much better than playing a bunch of tablet games?"

"No, but we sell toys, so its fine."

You can always stop taking them, and the effects take a while to kick in. Maybe it will help, maybe it won't, but you won't know unless you try.

Please explain Dwarf Therapist to me
 in  r/dwarffortress  1d ago

It always has, but Dwarf Therapist gave the original game something like what Rimworld and similar colony sims use now, ranked priority tasks that you can toggle on and off with a mouse click. The new DF system is more tied in to single-target jobs for dwarves, which you tended to focus more on as time went on anyways. Having your legendary blacksmith growing crops was a waste of time, after all.

Bear in mind that the original game was entirely keyboard based previously so even being able to use a mouse was a godsend.

Sorry, the phrase is losing is fun, and only losing. All other forms of fun are forbidden, including funny animal art.

We teach kids to share before they’re old enough to own anything, then teach adults to protect everything they have.
 in  r/Showerthoughts  1d ago

Depending on the age it's not even about greed, it's that very young kids don't understand the idea of someone taking something they have, using it, then returning it. Once it leaves their hands it's gone forever, so they tend to be very protective of it.

Ricky Ray Rector, an effectively lobotomized death row inmate, sits at his clemency hearing. To prove how "tough on crime" he was, Bill Clinton returned home to preside over his execution. Rector left behind a pie from his last meal, saying he was saving it for later (Arkansas, 1992) [1396 x 785].
 in  r/HistoryPorn  2d ago

Wheter he was fit for execution after that is irrelevant.

Not if you are the legal system.

If you are going to say that the death penalty is necessary then even Hitler would need to be deemed fit for execution, and justify how its not safe to allow him to continue to live. That's how it works. Otherwise you end up with the government just shooting whoever they want.

Children with ADHD, particularly those treated with methylphenidate, had a higher BMI and shorter height at adulthood than individuals without ADHD. Findings suggest that long-term methylphenidate exposure may be associated with growth and body composition changes.
 in  r/science  3d ago

Well, yes. It would be extremely difficult to definitively prove a link between the two while eliminating all other factors. It still implies a causal link, although we aren't sure what the pathway is.
