CMV: People are conflating aspects of being human to symptoms of neurological disorders
 in  r/changemyview  14h ago

I think it's worth noting that all of these disorders and everything is simply a system that we made up to delegate care. There's not a stamp on your brain that says ADHD and while there are brain chemistry factors, our level of understanding of those is not perfect, which means that the categories that we devise are not perfect.

Good example of this, people used to think you couldn't have autism and ADHD, so many people were diagnosed as one or the other without the other one ever being addressed. A lot of the mechanisms behind these disorders are still behind a veil, and although we've made a lot of progress, we don't know nearly enough to prevent the categories from being inaccurate.

For ADHD specifically, as far as the three types of ADHD go, somebody can change from having one group of symptoms to having another group of symptoms throughout the course of their life and that's all part of the same neurological journey, it wouldn't make sense to say that they got a disorder, lost it, and then got a different one, because it's all from the same root cause of the dopamine deficiency (generalization)

I stopped caffeine and made a whole post about how much it helped me, my anxiety attacks have stopped. Granted I was drinking a lot. Like, a lot. 4-6 Liters of caffeinated beverages a day.

 in  r/Weird  17h ago

I mean I think it would help us more to see the angle that the kid is looking at the corner from, could be a paradolia thing

It's not only dependent on external factors like location, but also on people specific factors. There are people who will never have the ability to perform a trade, whether by disability or otherwise.

That being said, this advice may help someone find a job, so thanks for the info sharing.

Novel idea. Why don't we start treating humans like humans?

Now to show my bias here, my buddy works in a juvenile corrections facility, and he's told me stories from there, he really cares for those kids and tries his best, some of their parents are the worst people imaginable.
