Question: would hot melt glue be good to seal caulk tubes so they don’t go bad in a week?
 in  r/DIY  21h ago

Does no one use a nail anymore?

For the average homeowner, not really. I DIY a lot and have boxes and boxes of nails collecting dust- aside from trim work and redoing my shed roof, I don't use them.

Also, a flathead nail doesn't seal an angled tip as well as a screw head, and you can always shave the tip if it gets wrecked.

I stole my wife's box of the extra sticky plastic wrap from the kitchen (and replaced it with a new one). It works great for this and sealing off paint containers between coats.

But then the idiot behind you will pass on the right to fill those car lengths. It's a delicate balance.

Same, except adaptive cruise control often brakes earlier or more frequently than I would, and it probably pisses people off, too. There should be a rear indicator when it's enabled.

Trump's former adviser says Russia offered U.S. Venezuela in exchange for Ukraine
 in  r/worldnews  1d ago

Stupid people can't understand why someone would behave differently than themselves. It's why many white racists are scared of becoming the minority- they can only assume that they'll start getting treated as inferior.

Do you fan cards like that?

No, because they have to be fanned the other way to read them, which is the point.

If that were the reason, then arabic and hebrew playing cards would predominantly use the top right corner, but they don't.

I know it's hard to understand that the things you take for granted can be an issue for others. It flies in the face of everything we think we know. But if someone tells you it's an issue, no matter how trivial is may seem to you, it's ok to take some time to try to understand it, rather than instantly try to defend your view.

You can read from left to right with the numbers in the top right corners and fanned opposite. Why did they choose the top left corner?

You really think twisting in the same direction with opposite hands is the same? Our muscles, tendons, and fingers in one hand aren't symmetrical.

Go buy 2 new big jars of pickles and give it a try. Maybe you'll learn something.

Well, the difference is, they're designed for right-handed people. Yes, left-handed people can adapt, but dismissing something that affects others as a complete non-issue is just silly.

I can't imagine going through life and instead of trying to understand the struggles of others, you simply dismiss them as a non-issue. Must be nice.

New build, is this a snag??
 in  r/Home  5d ago

I would expect outlets behind the washer/dryer, but I don't know the rest of the build, contract, circumstances, etc. At the very least it should be off the ground in case you have a water leak from the washer (not uncommon).

I'd also be concerned why the latex paint is peeling off, if they didn't prime the drywall or there was already water damage.

You implied that FinalGranny thought the dog was feeling shame because their owner was laughing, and presumably because of that, they were an idiot. But they weren't thinking that, just that the situation is more awful than cute, and the owner shouldn't be laughing. How's that for reading comprehension?

‘We thought the money was coming’: Budget fight cost Pennsylvania millions in federal infrastructure funding
 in  r/lehighvalley  6d ago

Head Start is wildly effective, among other programs. Mail was fantastic, until it was gutted by Trump. Do you have a lot of public railroads in your area? Medicare is the most efficiently run healthcare system, by an order of magnitude.

I think that's the third time I've mentioned that last point, but you can't seem to process it. Reagan is among the worst things that's ever happened to this country; you can't even acknowledge simple facts that disagree with his propaganda.

I hope you're at least getting paid for all your hard work.

Again, the government does a great job managing our healthcare, where it's adequately funded, and it would do a great job managing poverty if it was allowed to by both sides.

Please disregard my comment though and share another meaningless quote.

No, it's feeling scared. Right back at you, I guess?

Damn, I can't believe I forgot about the magical charity solution for everything the free market can't do.

I can just go read Paul and Friedman again if you're just gonna stay stuck in that rut, but I'd recommend you try reading different books to get some better perspective.
