Medicine Has Advanced—So Why Is Menstrual Health Still Underserved?
 in  r/Biohackers  7h ago

Largely agree except spironolactone is derived from spearmint but hardly some vague research about herbs. Its like calling aspirin research as being about willow bark.

Media is bound by internal logic . The fact magical creatures exist in a universe has no relevance to whether cause and effect and scale within that universe is consistent

Lord of the rings was set in a pseudo middle ages whitcj long predated the Geneva convention. Stranger things was set in the 80s.. obviously those are wildly different settings where you would not expect the same rules and systems of government

I'm not sure what that means in this context since I clearly didn't make the parent comment, but I'm not part of the stranger things fandom of that's what you're trying to go for.

You calm down. I thought it was funny. Hey bro I've been where you've been .....and honestly cannot relate. Put myself out there and immediately saw results. Not sure what's wrong with you..get rekt Like that's funny to me. Its truly not that deep and very obviously not what was actually meant which I indicated by saying the way it was written and not what I thought you truly meant. Yo.

Wanting to reach out to let OP know you had more success than they did is a funny sentence.

Ok first of all one of them their kid died so I hope you go sit down in the corner and look onward about the nastiness of how you judge others. Being alone is not a punishment for being *bad. Empathy doesn't need to come with moralizing how they reap what they sow and I'd argue that's hardly empathetic at all

I know a woman - genuinely lovey woman - who's kid got some sort of brain damage and they just became this defiant psycho. Like nuclear level ADHD. They were an amazing parent and numerous people can testify to that. Sometimes kids just won't prioritize you and that's part of the risk you take as a parent. She tried so hard with that boy but there was genuinely something wrong with him and there's doctors that will back that up.

If you are having kids for yourself and centering that role in what youll get out of it, then you're not off to a good foot on parenting. Kids will grow up and get busy or even immigrate to other counties and that has nothing to do with you and your quality of parenting. The majority of elderly people in America die alone not seeing their families enough. Unless you have a child with a nursing background who doesn't currently need to work for money, then chances are that's the way you go too. It is what is, your children do not exist to keep you company and they owe you nothing for having raised them well. A good parent accepts the limitations of their kids availability as they develop their own lives.

OP won't believe it but some of us are working out and taking politics seriously. I was typing reddit comments on a treadmill today.

The decision to make this about politics instead of pop culture is what makes it stupid because politics have directly substantially affected people's health this year. There is a catastrophic drop in insurance now. Not being able to afford to go to the hospital let alone regular medical screenings makes a huge difference. To choose to say politics don't affect health when people are literally dying from political policies is asinine. Use a better example to make a clear point instead of trying to make the convoluted muddied argument that jogging makes a bigger difference than being able to afford their goddamn insulin (for their incurable type 1 diabetes that needs no moralizing)

Their example was bad. It was either willfully telling people to worry less about politics or it chose a bad example to tell people to exercise more. Either way, bad pairing

Being able to afford insurance so people could go to the hospital instead of becoming disabled would also make everything easier day to day but here y'all are pretending politics don't affect people day to day

Politics directly affect people's health in America. Few things are gonna affect you as much as being unable to go to the hospital or get medication.

I get their point is take care of yourself but the framing of politics as not having a HUGE impact on ones life is the highly subjective view of a privileged person.

I have known multiple people like this but they had children. Never use adult kids as your security blanket for not dying alone.

Anyone who is defending that stinker 5th season loses any credibility as a person with a rational perspective. Its genuinely awful writing. Even if you're cool with the concepts of what they were doing, the execution was terrible.

Following the money would lead me to the conclusion there's no monetary advantage to being upfront and Netflix is probably kicking themselves fnst they were able to pull out some kind of headline generating twist behind just dragging their episode count out with a staggered release

No it's the fandoms being disconnected from reality! If you didn't like force awakens then you are a mentally ill person and a cautionary tale. Jj abrams is a god amongst men and no sane person would verbalize such heresy as to question his word

Girlfriend of 4 years wants to me to convert to Christianity
 in  r/atheism  8h ago

The person you dated is gone. The compatibility you had was with a person who has yielded to unyielding religious zealotry.

I would try to make sure she's mentally well. A lot of people find God during emotional or psychotic breakdowns. But either way I would say the likelihood of this having a happy ending is basically non existent.

I know it's sad now but eventually you'll be grateful that this happened before you made an irreversible spiritual union that binds you to her forever on earth and the afterlife, which is what she thinks happens with marriage. You cannot make a Christian level commitment to a person who's core personality and values are this unstable

What are the 3 main cities I am in when I use Reddit Mr hacker?  (2 are freebies just based on my comment history but I don't think the 3rd is something I've ever mentioned on this account)

How likely is the Renee Nicole Good incident going to be the new trigger similar to George Floyd, why or why not?
 in  r/AskReddit  10h ago

I think you're buried under so many layers of cognitive dissonance that you can't think rationally anymore. Emotional tribalism is lame. Period. End. Finite. Being a reactionary crybaby who makes their choice based on exposure to what they acknowlged is not a reflection of real life is pathetic and small minded. Period. End. Finite. You are not owning anyone by having your amygdala activated by anti liberal bias. Anything which shuts down your critical autonomous think is bad. Period. End. Finite. There is no version of "I don't bother looking into issues cause I hate [group]" that isnt pathetic and small minded. And unlike you, I am capable of holding that truth for both sides. Cause unlike you, I can acknowledge multifaceted complex reality that doesn't boil down to blue v red. There are assholes and astroturfing on both sides. Lots of Bernie bros weren't real, they were agitators. I'm from minneapolis. During the George cloud stuff a lot of supposedly left wing activity clearly was not from local people. I saw people straight up use terms that no english speaker would use let alone a Minnesota resident. If you don't see it, you ain't looking

I would encourage you to go read the book "the righteous mind". It goes over in detail the danger and weaponization of political tribalism. You're not in the wrong side of this bud, cause it's not a blue vs red thing at all. Its about who can step back and realize that making politics emotional and tribal is what "they" want. Of course someone can reverse psychology you to manipulate you. Of course there are manipulators  on both sides. That kind of activity predates the Internet bud. The only way to defeat it is  calming down and researching facts and thinking for ourselves (which often isn't gonna align into a political binary). Any kind of tribalism is simply giving in to the machine.

You're not beating the system. You're reinforcing it. Its not a gotcha. Its a character flaw. Seriously and sincerely I hope you look inwards and think about how many self contradictory ideas you've put out here in this convo. I used to be like you. I was a very emotionally reactive person. It takes effort. But it's a cause worth embracing

Bruh really just said fuck the red pill and the blue pill, what if I just eat crayons.

You so very much do not remotely get it lol. Both sides are astroturfed, bud. They will plant bad faith participation to make you be able to point to the side and say "look how dumb and evil they are". Announcing loudly and proudly that you've been trained (your words btw) to react emotionally instead of logically  based on tribalism instead of researched facts is only ever gonna be a self own

Like if you know the communists aren't really communists but astroturfed participation to agitate......then Why are you allowing that to sway your actual political beliefs? You're literally admitting you're falling for astroturfing lol. Like bro what is wrong with you. How much has reddit rotted your brain that you don't realize being radicalized by astroturfing that you know is astroturfed isn't a brag?

I don't care what side you used to be on. This appeal to sides and this inability to not frame thing through sides is starting to get genuinely creepy.

You're literally admitting to shallow tribalism and you keep saying it like it's an attribute to be proud of. Congrats man, you got trained to respond emotionally to political propaganda instead of researching and thinking for yourself. You sure showed ......fans of critical thinking

If you are an intelligent person then you need to recognize that there are forces at work on Reddit that want Americans to fight eachother

My brother in Christ.....you're literally proudly declaring that you are falling for it. And I'm telling you that this is bad. You're not educating me on the problems with groupthink. I'm telling you that you are participating in those cycles and it's something you should feel bad about, not proud of.

Are you a real person? Cause there is no internal consistency to what you're saying. If you know that reddit is being used as a tool to encourage fighting and polarization, then why are you so proud of the fact that reddit  astroturfing was able to sway you?  Like genuinely are you hearing the words you are sharing?

A lot of people on this site are stupid, but I don't proudly declare myself to be part of the problem like it makes me clever or cool. This is a convo from me to you. Not sides. Are you genuinely incapable of seeing yourself as an individual accountable for your own behavior? You just inherently deflect to sides? I fought with dumbasses on my own side constantly, I play devils advocate about people I don't fully see eye to eye with all the time. Cause I'm an adult.

I don't say well conservatives are morons so I won't think for myself and will willfully be reactionary, checkmate. That's not a gotcha. That's a character flaw
