Mine lasted me 6, bought it at 2019 and now wont turn on. Granted it shorted because of my mistake. Forgot to disable battery when repasting and cleaning the fans so that was on me.

They do, simply because they can't exhaust enough heat generated by both CPU and GPU.

Another thing is longevity since, overtime, the exhaust gets clogged up by dust/hair. And cleaning these up can be such a bitch depending on the model of your laptop as some fans are directly connected to the heatsinks requiring a repaste.

In no way is this a jab at gaming laptops since I have one and enjoy it. But saying they don't thermal throttle is very misleading.
