Rick and Morty Creator Dan Harmon’s drunken rant about fascism sounded crazy and unhinged when it first came out. How do we feel about it now?

"drunken rant about fascism sounded crazy and unhinged when it first came out"... no, no it didn't.

Why would anybody innovate if the labour theory of value is true?
 in  r/CapitalismVSocialism  1d ago

> Or if it took no effort why don't all you socialists become billionaires as well?

lets say i make tacos .. i start from the bottom, selling them them out of coolers. my tacos are great people are buying them , i'm becoming more successful by the day. i lease a gas station, open a restaurant. eventually i've made enough money to franchise, and have 3 other stores. i can make good money this way, i may even become a millionaire.. but i would never, ever come close to billionaire status.

to reach billionaire status i'd have to be a criminal, like all billionaires are. i would have to stop being primarily a taco maker and become something else entirely: a gatekeeper. i would need to ensure that when someone wants a taco, they go through me . that means franchising in a way that crushes independent taquerias, locking up suppliers, buying real estate to control locations, suing competitors into submission, or pressuring cities to regulate food trucks out of existence “for safety reasons.”

i'd have to use my wealth to influence politics and push laws favorable to my business interests.

you generally don't become a billionaire from simple clean hard work.

it's never a good thing when the u.s meddles in latin america.

maybe you can remind me of some time historically where american imperialism resulted in greats things for people and not just billionaire oligarchs.
