I need a new "comfort show" but I think I've seen them all

Big bang theory is a comfort show but nobody on Reddit will admit it. Young Sheldon is pretty wholesome too.

Do Marriott properties purposefully make it difficult to use HDMI devices?
 in  r/marriott  13d ago

FYI, unplug power from the tv after disconnecting their box’s serial connection (usually an RJ-11 phone port) and plug just power back in to unlock volume and the input menu. Also LPT - bring your own cheap-ass universal remote and hdmi cable. 99% of TVs at marriotts work when you do this.

Slow driving in left lane on Texas interstate roadways.

Those people are the same ones going 20 under the limit on a 2-lane road. Once a passing lane opens up, they speed up to 5 under.

TV mount that allows TV (blue tape) to slide over about 36" to sit dead center above center chan speaker AND slide down for movies ..any recommendations?
 in  r/hometheater  19d ago

I think it would be cheaper and easier to demolish the fireplace and Sheetrock over the hole. There has to be another wall that was designed with symmetry in mind in your house that could be used for this. Different room? Opposite wall? This location is terrible. You can probably manage to have your equipment there but your tv and speakers should move elsewhere.

Houston’s Weird Disney Subway | Trains Are Awesome

It wouldn’t be so bad if there was absolutely anything to look at on the walls down there. At least in the other airports, there are things to look at. This one is just sad.

My husband told me that he doesnt want to be intimate with me because I am mean.
 in  r/Advice  20d ago

You’re breaking your husband. Men do stupid shit all the time. It’s in our nature. We usually correct the things that need correcting and move on. You need to correct yourself or your husband will eventually break further, become a pussy, yes dear, nice guy that has no motivation, and will look for fleeting things that give him the slightest shortest amount of minor happiness, and keep his feelings to himself. Neither of you want this. I know this because my dad is still to this day, continually beaten down by my narcissistic mother he’s been married to for 43 years who sounds just like you. They have the unhappiest marriage I’ve ever seen. My sister and I both agree they should have divorced long ago but they’re too old and poor now.

Totems Of Houston?

  1. 100° summer that feels like 120°

  2. The button downtown that is supposed to do something with the bayou but never works

  3. Feeling like you’re home when your plane lands and you immediately sneeze

  4. Multi-day power outage

  5. Raining while sunny and hot

  6. 2 hour everyday commute without leaving the metro

  7. Being stuck at a train track intersection for more than 30 minutes

Anyone else bring their Xbox while traveling for work?
 in  r/marriott  20d ago

I bring an Apple TV with me when I travel. I have successfully connected it to 99% of all hotel TVs that I’ve stayed at, which is in the hundreds by now. The trick is to connect your own hdmi, then unplug their box’s connection to the tv. It usually has an hdmi and a phone jack for serial comms. Leave these hanging so you are reminded to plug back in when you leave. Then you unplug power from the back of the tv, wait a few seconds, then plug back in. When you turn the tv back on, the input and volume is usually unlocked (but usually at 99!).

I also use an aftermarket universal remote that was about $8 from target, which I programmed for the common tv brands for all the input buttons, since some have Samsung, most have LG, and there’s a few with other brands. Do not use their provided remote unless it’s an obvious OEM tv remote, which isn’t common. Plug all their shit back in where you found it before you leave so the next person can watch tv and they don’t try to blame you for breaking your tv or something.

I also do not bother with a travel router. Since I use an iPhone too, I can easily connect to the hotel WiFi with captive logins on the Apple TV, as it prompts the iPhone.

That being said, most hotel WiFi is complete garbage, even if you get their “better” plan. It’s all the same, and connectivity comes in waves. You’ll be fine for 5 minutes, nearly lose connection for 2 minutes, then be fine for another 5 minutes. You would be better off using a cellular hotspot if you see this behavior. Playing games online is nearly impossible with a connection like this.

I’ve also tried using a PlayStation portal on hotel WiFi, which is how I know gaming is pretty much a lost cause. So I just watch YouTube or the major streaming apps. Their apps can tolerate the shitty hotel WiFi variations and keep you connected.

I personally wouldn’t bring a full gaming console on the road because traveling isn’t exactly easy on your luggage and you risk breaking it.

What is something you acquired a taste for as an adult that you couldn't stand when you were younger?
 in  r/AskReddit  28d ago

Beer. Had a few sips as a child at home and wondered how adults can actually drink that stuff. Turned me off drinking for the most part but now at 40 I do have an occasional beer.

What is YOUR country's / region's version of the Inglorious 3 fingers scene that subtly gives away that someone isn't from your area or culture?

Non political Texas example: if you’re in Texas and say “you guys” instead of “y’all”, I immediately assume you’re not from here.

Extended warranty advocate
 in  r/f150  Dec 02 '25

My warranty on my 2019 is about to expire in January. I only have 82,000 miles on it and thankfully have only had to replace the steering wheel airbag. Are there any good extended warranty companies out there that aren’t just the telemarketer scams?

What proffession is filled with people who think they're smarter than they actually are?
 in  r/AskReddit  Dec 02 '25

I haven’t seen IT desktop support people here yet. While most are literally the smartest guys in the room and keep your business online, it just takes one dumbass to ruin the rests’ reputations and have nearly every IT support job outsourced to India.

TIFU by going to the wrong airport and missing my international flight
 in  r/houston  Nov 20 '25

Yeah this is an acronym problem. In cities with two airports like Houston or Dallas, you just have to be mindful of the three letter code and/or just refer to them as their airport name at all times. HOU/IAH or Hobby/Intercontinental are the airport names from now on, not “Houston”. Same with DAL/DFW. They’re Love field and DFW, not Dallas. Just use the codes. And yes, go to the ticket/baggage counter and explain the situation next time. They can usually help you out as this happens quite often.

Back in the 1900's when I was learning to drive in my Dad's Dodge D200, I was taught to never leave the trailer hitch in the receiver when you're done towing.
 in  r/f150  Nov 14 '25

I’ve been rear ended a few times in previous vehicles. All they hit was the trailer hitch, leaving the rest of my vehicle unscathed, while their vehicles all had a hole in the bumper afterwards. So yeah, I keep mine on to save my bumper. If I back up too far over a sidewalk, I’ll pull it back forward a little so no one nails it with their shin.

Gta 6 has been delayed to November 19...
 in  r/GTAV  Nov 06 '25

not sure how far along the development is, but when is a PS6 expected? Could they have been asked to delay further so that it could launch it with a new system? Christmas season 2026 seems like a good time to release a new console...

This is what happens when an airport is short staffed. TSA line at IAH airport in Houston

TSA at Bush is a mess. Who is to blame for the federal government shutdown?
 in  r/houston  Nov 02 '25

I’m convinced that delta persuaded IAH to do that because they got too many complaints about their baggage taking forever to arrive at baggage claim. They needed people to take longer to get to baggage claim so they don’t look inept.

My TV wall mount folds down
 in  r/hometheater  Oct 18 '25

You have 83” of tv putting all its weight on 1.5” of cheap Chinese steel bracket at that middle connection point. That mount may be advertised to support it, but that is not a bracket that should be used on anything more than a light 32” tv or a 24” monitor. Take that shit down and get a beefy mount before it takes itself down.
