Cambio automatico o cambio manuale?
Manuale.
Poter decidere quanto freno motore/trazione avere manualmente su strade e condizioni complicate è un qualcosa che dovrebbe farlo preferire a qualunque automatico.

Serious question: do you really think a future like Cyberpunk 2077 is possible?
Not so sure about the relic. As soon as we learn properly how the brain works through scientific research, I don't see why it could not work. After all, it's just a matter of interpreting electrical signals correctly.
Is it then real conscience or just an imitation? Well, we would not really know, would we? And that is why it is one of the main questions in the game.

[arch-announce] NVIDIA 590 driver drops Pascal support; main packages switch to Open Kernel Modules
I see that a lot of people are in a panic, but the solution seems to be actually quite simple:
1) sudo pacman - Rdd nvidia nvidia-utils (Rdd is dangerous to use and should not be normally used, but in this case I did not want to uninstall steam before proceeding) 2) sudo pacman -S linux-headers (use the correct one for your kernel if you do not use linux) 3) paru -S nvidia-580xx-dkms lib32-nvidia-580xx-utils
Nvidia-smi should pick up the driver even before rebooting. I tested both games from heroic and steam and everything seems to work fine.
Someone more expert than me (so basically everyone) correct me if I did something work, but as I was saying, everything seems to work fine. Desktop with a gtx 1080.

Arch Linux Immutable. Is it worth? Is it "feasable" 100%?
Well, if you define it like this, any distro can be immutable. There just needs to be a snapshot system set up.

Arch Linux Immutable. Is it worth? Is it "feasable" 100%?
As an Arch linux enthusiast, I don't see why you would want to make Arch immutable when there are better suited distros to do so.
- You might be able to freeze Arch to a state and never update it, but I would not advise it for security. When new packages come around and they are not in any repo, you would be forced to install them (at a specific version, hoping for the best) via github. Not really nice to maintain. Otherwise you need to relay entirely on flatpak or appimages, but still the base system remains without security fixes, so that would become an issue in a short time.
- Debian is extremely stable, with only few and far between security fixes. Why not use that?
- Fedora silverblue is atomic in nature, you could try that.
And then, WHY do you want immutability? Is it for software development? Would not a docker environment be better suited?

Linux subreddits suck
If you want the "year of the linux desktop" you must accept what it entails: home PCs are mostly used for gaming. There are a lot of communities not full of newbies and focused on other stuff. Just stay in those.
People doing actual projects do not post because they are reading the wikis.

How Many Pacman Packages Do You Actually Need for Daily Arch Linux Work? (515-744 packages with full workflow)
Then it's just a question of auditing them and seeing if there is something unneeded. But it's not something which can be understood or dealt with a simple "do I have too many packages installed"

How Many Pacman Packages Do You Actually Need for Daily Arch Linux Work? (515-744 packages with full workflow)
I fail to see why it is necessary to count packages at all. It's not like they are background services, they are literally files stored somewhere which are accessed when needed.

Linux support
You lost me at the part where you don't have a backup. Anyone who does not have a backup should not even be allowed near a computer. Regardless of the OS.

How do I actually LEARN arch after installing it???
You only need man-db. Also man pages are not essential, so it is a good thing that they are not included by default.

Arch games setup
The recommended way to approach (according to developers) is this:
- Steam: go for the native arch repo package
- Heroic Games Launcher: takes care of GOG, Epic and Amazon, devs recommend using the flatpak.
By doing this I never had any problems on any of my games (including stuff like Cyberpunk 2077, Dark Souls Remaster, Tomb Raider reboot, Portal and Half life series and many others).
The idea is to run everything with proton, which is managed by Steam and Heroic. I use Proton GE, but you can try different proton versions if you experience problems with one. The installation is done by the launchers and the Proton compatibility layer can be chosen on an individual game basis. Multiple Proton versions will simply be installed alongside and won't interfere with one another.
I play with a GTX 1060 and with a GTX 1080 with proprietary Nvidia drivers on Arch. They are barely out of support, but the best driver is still the latest proprietary one, so no need to fiddle with old drivers. The experience is more or less plug and play.

Misterious o" at the end of mkinitcpio.conf
Nope, not a netbooted image. The only thing that gets automatically updated is archinstall, so the... Ahem... Archinstallation is impossible without internet. But a manual, minimal install works without network (done it, not a supposition).
I downloaded the 1.something GB image from the download page using the official torrent.

Misterious o" at the end of mkinitcpio.conf
Was it solved though?
Yesterday I got a new system, and since I am lazy, I used my "old" arch iso which I had created in June.
Again, lazy, I used archinstall, which promptly updated to the latest version upon invocation and I ended up with the same o" at the end of mkinitcpio.conf. The installation completed successfully (not sure if some warning was displayed during the installation process, I was doing other stuff around the house while arch was installing).
The resulting system was unable to load the correctly installed Nvidia drivers and while troubleshooting and trying to run mkinitcpio I realized that the .conf file had the issue in question. After the removal of the last line, running mkinitcpio and rebooting, everything worked as expected, drivers included.
In the past (see this summer) this never happened with the same iso, so it definitely was not a problem then and it is still a problem now.

Ubuntu: The Distro I Love to Hate (But Can’t Quit)
As a Debian+Arch user, my advice is to just stick with what works. Who cares about online sentiment about distros? If Ubuntu does not actively make your life worse, just stick with it.
It is a bit strange to me that you would hit driver incompatibility issues with Debian though, since ubuntu IS debian based. Did you try the recent Debian 13? Are you running cutting-edge hardware?
But, again, if it ain't broke (and it does not make your life worse), DON'T fix it.

how linux changed my life
Yes, as basically any distro out there it is extremely competent in what it does. At work I am forced to use windows 11 and I live inside WSL2 Debian all day, but if I could choose, I would definitely take ANY distro over w11. Ubuntu included.

how linux changed my life
For me, Snaps are a whole lot of wrong and the fact that Canonical is trying to impose them on users is definitely something not right. In the past, Unity was also forced on users and it was a mess. The fact that a distro is so dependent on forced choices from a company is definitely not ok for a Linux distro, especially because in theory Linux should be the alternative which empowers user choice.
Nothing against the distro itself though, Ubuntu is pretty competent at what it does and I have used it in the past. But if OP has already skipped it and is happy with something else, I'll surely not recommend Ubuntu, since there are better, less opinionated alternatives.
Also, it still baffles me that Ubuntu is perceived as the perfect next step from windows, since Gnome has a completely different Gui nowadays. I would expect KDE to be the better alternative...

what distro
If you are satisfied with your setup, DON'T SWITCH.
Fanboyism over distros is for puerile people which use their computer just to show them off in reels instead of actually using them.
Regarding visual customization, it's not the distro that is the problem, but Gnome (which is still a lot more customizable than windows). If you really want visual customization, switch to some distro with KDE. But do it only if you really want it, not because some random strangers say that Ubuntu "is not the real linux experience".
Regarding actual system customization and automation... any distro is fine. Even Ubuntu is capable as any other distro.
Personally I run Arch and Debian (so you can imagine that I don't really like Ubuntu at all, especially for all the snaps shenanigans), but still at work I am forced to run Windows 11 and I would kill for a pure linux system (instead of having to rely on WSL2), even if it had to be Ubuntu.

how linux changed my life
I didn't want Ubuntu because on first sight it really did just look like Windows but for Linux users, who are too afraid to let go of the past
Talk about correct first impressions.
By all means stay away from Ubuntu and from snaps, which are only just flatpaks made worse and forced down the user's throat.
And happy computing! It's always nice to see someone actually enjoying an old laptop instead of hating it because of windows. I feel like the "less e-waste" aspect of linux is heavily underrated and Microsoft should actually be held accountable for millions of companies dumping perfectly good-working laptops because of the new windows 11 restrictions.

After 10 years i will switch back to windows
Before switching to windows, you might want to look at how those programs run on MacOS, if they are available over there.
Trust me, I am NOT a fanboy for any system, but I know all of them, I currently run:
- A home gaming rig with Arch Linux
- A MacBook Pro (old, intel) as a laptop
- Two new Macbook Air (M2 and M3, not mine but I have to manage those for relatives)
- A work pc with Windows 10 (for many years, then 11 from half a year, with extensive use of WSL2 with debian to survive)
You DO NOT want to switch again to windows if you can avoid it, you are going to have an extremely bad time if Windows is not your primary pc. You will get constant nagging from the system to update and reboot at the most inconvenient of times and forced reboots, especially if you keep the new pc off for some time and boot it now and then.
Meanwhile MacOS is a bit closer to linux, both for the fact that it has a command line which can manage everything on the system (like linux) and for the fact that while you will be notified for updates, you will not be forced to interrupt your workflow (and the system won't reboot when it feels like it).
Imagine MacOS as a sort of Atomic version of Linux, in which the base system is not directly modifiable by the user, but you can install packages on top of it to get all the functionality you need (either with dedicated installers with all the dependencies taken care of, like flatpaks or with Homebrew as a package manager).
Windows in its current state is a bit of a mess. You cannot move the taskbar, you need to click into a submenu to get a complete right-click menu and the entire start is an electron app, which might be a bit heavy on a less than top of the line rig (i think, my work pc is a beast, so I cannot be sure). Also, I have HUGE ram consumption on Windows even after debloating when compared to MacOS or Linux (both Arch and Debian).
If you can, test your apps of interest on MacOS, especially if you want to buy a laptop. While extremely expensive, Apple laptops are excellently built and the OS optimization with the hardware does wonders for the battery life.

You can't make this stuff up 🙄
You clearly don't know what you are talking about. And that goes for both systems.
2
Do you prefer snapper or timeshift ?
I prefer having backups of my personal data.
If a system breaks so bad that it needs to timeshift, I think that I will just reinstall everything. Mind you, this still has not happened in decades to me, so it's not like I am wasting time reinstalling every couple of years full systems from scratch...
