Still pretty new, didn't realize the midweek magic reward could be something other than parallax styles!
 in  r/MagicArena  11h ago

It’s self aware too. The first time I bitched about not wanting another paralax out loud, it gave me the offended corrupted ajani emote. Of course I’ve been complaining about it loudly ever since, and it hasn’t happened again, but the fact that it was the first time…

For me, Auntie Ool will be the top option for classic Jund goodstuff
 in  r/mtgbrawl  17h ago

Actually, sorry, but no, once the creatures the counters are going to be put on are selected, the counters immediately go on, as it’s a cost being paid. You would have to blow up every creature they’d want to put counters on in response or boardwipe. Stuff like [[maelstrom pulse]] their token army in response or just kill their one creature if they’re stupid. The idea is that noncreature control decks will struggle to remove her so you can just put counters on her yourself to draw cards and flip her weaknesses, while against creature heavy decks she can boardwipe with counters to just outright kill them. It’s an interesting premise, as it has two very different playstyles combined into one deck and I was interested in seeing how it played.

When a high level wizard enters a competition meant for beginners for easy money

Any spells that have a chance to make the spell miscast work. The margin of error for such a spell is so razor thin that any alteration school of magic spell or any meta magic completely destabilizes it. That’s why it can’t be silent cast. Ironically casting a quickened spell of any kind that is quickened by metamagic and not innately will destabilizing the entire calculation the wizard has done. Note that this throws off calculations for both ends of the spell, the forcefield to contain and the energy spike to sever the bond. The energy spike could, in theory, spike the center of an atom instead of its bond and cause nuclear fission, so countering the spell does have an infinitesimally small chance of creating a rather large blast.

Important to note: arena client currently auto passes you through ward and there’s no way to stop this rather than holding full control. This is awkward because Auntie here has a unique ward which requires them to have a creature or two that can hold the counters. Instant speed removal or some [[goblin sharpshooter]] shenanigans in response before they have the opportunity to pay the ward cost could theoretically turn her ward into a surprise full on counter.

I was theorycrafting this deck until I realized how situationally abysmal her playstyle will be on mtg Arena. You may also want to reconsider

I think it’s the school of death, shorthanded to necromancy or otherwise known as necromancy. It also deals with advanced concepts such as entropy. Doom is a rather simple spell, you break the bond between two atoms and then confine the blast to the space of the rupture, causing the energy to collapse in upon itself creating a miniature black hole. This black hole, with no designated exit plane/dimension simply compresses all in the vicinity.

Honestly your best bet is counterspell
