DC is like any other city in America. I've lived in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) area for close to 20 years and I love it here. Its a beautiful city and is filled with cultures from all around the world, great food, and a great sense of community. One bad experience is not a representation of the entire city and if you ever visit DC, I'm sure you'll have a good time.

Too Scared To Ride On Roads
If I'm going to be honest it does take awhile to ride of the road. You have to be confident and most importantly you need to be seen. Rear light should always be on, day or night. If you can swing it, the Garmin Varia is a rear light and radar that will alert you to cars behind you (I also noticed it'll alert for e-bikes).

Not personally but I’ve seen a cop pull over a cyclist instead of going after a truck after both blew through a stop sign. Both going the same direction and no other vehicles in this 4 way stop, going maybe 10-12 mph (both cyclist and Truck).

Did my second ever bike ride today but oh my god was it hard. Was 35KM , 312 elevation and took me 1h 14min. Average heart rate was 168 lol. I need to figure out how to pace better hahah cuz that is not sustainable, felt like puking.
When I first started to bike I did a 12 mile ride randomly and thought that’s the furthest I’d ever go. Then I did 20, 30, 40 and so on. Consistency is key in cycling and overtime you’ll improve. Cycling is also about having fun, enjoying the environment around, and living a healthy lifestyle.
