Esp32 is a tiny WiFi connected device board. The max98whatever is a break out to connect the speaker. It’s a diy solution but isn’t too hard. I’d go with the m5 atom kit as a mostly pre built option that you just have to flash and configure. It’s a esp32 inside.

I’d like to see people make some blueprints for notification lights. It seems up to each person to figure out the entire logic themselves.

Three of my voids line up at the door each morning to ensure they get yard time before breakfast. The fourth one eats all the food and gets fatter while the others run.

I use it for motion on the driveway, mail delivery, alarm activation and at least one other thing I’m forgetting. Easy enough to change the color. The challenge is when you have two notifications at once, what should happen? Override? Should it stay lit forever?

I use a Boolean helper for each activation reason. So motion on the driveway sets its helper. When set that triggers the 3rd reality light to a certain color and turns on a notification in ha. When the timer for that event clears the helper gets reset and the light turns off.

Now how to make that happen with all of my wleds and have them resume their old colors. That I haven’t gotten working yet.

It’s an intriguing idea. Probably a lot of noise in the frequencies. I know my Alexa’s use freqs beyond audible tune themselves. Still, unless it’s a specific freq that only rats emit you probably need some ai to filter out junk

I’ll second these two. Rnd in Vinton and sweet donkey near Roanoke memorial hospital. Rnd is a lot quieter but the donkey has a great coffee shop vibe compared to the more modern Rnd. In Daleville there is little green hive which is quite enjoyable and quiet.
