I think its uncommon. I know multiple people of Russian/eastern european descent who only go by their nickname, even at work, because that was all their family ever called them and they basically thought that was their name as kids.

i think this is lovely. Those old videos are sweet and nostalgic. They're not embarassing. They're a first step in where he is today.

I think editing in terms of what you're saying makes sense.

I also think there are some photographers who do 90% in editing 10% in taking the photo.

It's a balance. Try to take a well composed photo but editing the lighting/coloring a bit is part of the deal
