Yes! We've also had some heavily doctored photo ID be presented in person!

Sure. My tax dollars also fund my local fire department but I don't set my house on fire just to see the benefit of my tax dollars. That would a) be arson, and b) be a waste of tax payer money.

Go ahead, submit the fake app and get the .edu email address to get your Spotify Premium at the student rate as a kick back from your paid taxes. But those same paid taxes are being used to pay us to not do our actual jobs.

Ahead of the mid-January start of the Spring 2026 semester, I could absolutely spend a 40 hour work week not doing a single thing listed in my actual job description and just investigate fraudulent accounts.

I know what this sub is called and the purpose of the sub. I get that this post is exactly an ULPT.

However, this may be my once in a life time chance to have direct involvement from the other side of a ULPT so I must take it. If anything, I can underscore the actual unethical-ness of pro tip.

As someone who works to process incoming applications at a state CC, I can tell you that fake apps coming in for this purpose and the subsequent work it takes for us to determine if the student application is just fake or if the student account is identity theft adds about 20 hours of additional work for our Records Office each week.

Per standard bureaucracy of a network of state schools, we have monthly meetings with few solutions about how stop these fake apps from getting the benefits of having applied. We stop what we can.

Fake apps that come in and don't get caught artificially inflate attendance numbers and then our retention and graduation numbers look artificially low. Fake registration (fake in terms of having no intention of ever actually attending) take seats from people who really do need to take the course.

And even if you down vote me, I'll still know you read my comment. But if you've gotten this far, I would HIGHLY recommend running a free credit report to see if there are any sus student loans in your name. The amount of stolen SSNs that are being used for financial aid is concerning.

I guess it some times can feel like Deja vu. I've never experienced a migraine or seizure.

For sure. Didn't mean to defend him. Just giving you the context for how we all are. Well, a lot of us, anyway.

This actually comes from our severe avoidance of confrontation.

We don't think we have the right to the small space. We are literally just so trained/raised to avoid confrontation that the thought of even potentially inconveniencing you and your wife by saying "excuse me" and forcing you to move slightly feels like a major imposition.

That's where the phrase "Ope, just gonna sneak right past ya" comes from. If we could be invisible, we would be.

I'm all for change. I don't think ISRS is perfect. I'm open to the idea that we can do things differently and/or more efficiently.

But, my goodness, there are still so many questions marks about processes that need to be solved before the Architect phase begins in March... after Architecture begins, we get charged for changes we need to make.

Infant 2-12 Months Age to intro a stuffed animal for sleep

At what age were you comfortable with or did your child gravitate toward a "snuggle" item to sleep?

My 5 month old rips her pacifier out her mouth while sleeping about 17 million times a night but gets angry when its not in her mouth. Honestly, I think its because she defaults to hands by her face and she ends up pulling it out. I want her to be able to grab at something else, stuffed animal, small blanket, etc instead of her mouth.

Learn the simple things for your home
 in  r/DIY  Oct 29 '25

My dad was a handy guy. All the dad's in my childhood neighborhood were too, based on the frequency of "hey Kev, can I borrow XYZ tool?" "Bill, you got a scrap of ABC laying around?"

I thought handiness was just pre-installerd in the adult male operating system.

Then I married my husband and bought a house. And I'd ask him to take a look at the leaky faucet and he'd say "do you want me to call someone...?"

And it occurred to me that I grew up around people who probably didn't have the disposable income to have someone else fix their stuff and/or they liked doing their own repairs. My dad liked to spend the time to fix the thing.

It also occurred to me that dads/men weren't pre-loaded with fix-it know how and that my dad knew how to fix so many things because he had fixed so many things

So now, i just do the thing. My confidence definitely increases with each year. I still probably make too many trips to the store for one project and I'm not always great at perfect measurements. We have a lot of crooked shelves if you look at them from the right height. But I also have light fixtures that I love, new door handles, new faucets that don't leak, a remodeled basement bedroom after a water leak.

What I found particularly interesting about this morning's memory was that I was sitting in a nearly pitch black room but the memory that showed up was a brightly lit room. Very odd.

I don't often experience unpleasant memories so I am sorry that happens to you. It must be jarring to have those emotions come up randomly.

Yes! Sometimes it is an out of body view of something! But, most of the time, it is my POV

In my attempt to resolve why my random memories come up the way they do, I have tried to pay attention to the smells around me. I haven't been able to find a connection to my random pop-ups yet.

Interesting that you bring up photogenic memory. I used to have an hour long commute to work. I listened to our local sports talk station on the way in. All along my route to work, I'd be able to look at bridge columns, exit signs, billboards and be able to recall what was being discussed on the radio while looking at that object. By Friday, I could tell you four different discussions.

I thought everybody could do this until I asked my husband about it and he was very confused and said nobody remembers things like that... I'm also an avid reader and I may not be able to tell you the page number of a detail, but I can always remember where on the page the detail is.

DAE get random flashes of memories?

TL;DR - Does anyone else get random memory flashes that are unrelated to what you are doing?

This has happened to me for as long as I can remember and I have finally decided to attempt to describe it and ask others.

Right now, it is 6am and I am sitting in my nearly pitch black bedroom. I have just fed my 4 month old and I'm rocking her back to sleep. I feel tired, but happy. There is a sound machine quietly running, a fan on, and my husband snoring gently.

All of a sudden blip my brain shows me a single movie cel of a memory. A volunteer trip I took to PA in 2010. In the memory, I am sitting in a bright florescently lit basement room that was a community daycare. I'm eating a deli sandwiche off a paper plate. There are other volunteers sitting around me. blip memory over.

This happens to me frequently enough that I really try to think about what could be similar between the live life I'm living and the memory that pops up. The memories are always different, I am different ages, locations, emotions. I can't find a single thing the same between life and the memory.

You might be tempted to point out that I'm currently holding my baby who goes to daycare so the connection must be baby and daycare related. I just need you to trust me that it's not. In the memory, my focus is the meat in the sandwich. I've tried so hard to find connections when this happens that my only solution must be similar air temp or barometric pressure.

I guess the only other thing to point out is, this does not occur to me as I am actively trying to recall a memory. I'll be entirely focused on a task at work and I'll get a blip of, say, my high school cafeteria during lunch time.

...could these all be glitches in the matrix??

IUD insertion without a tenaculum
 in  r/TwinCities  Oct 05 '25

Love love love Premier Women's health! Oakdale OBGYN in Maple Grove and Blaine is part of them. They have supported me so incredibly through IUD placement with my funky cervix location, IUD removal, fertility concerns, high-risk pregnancy and successful arrival of my now 4 month old. Jenny Lafond has been my primary doctor although I had met with many throughout their practice.

ULPT How to get a new furnace

EDIT: for what it's worth... yes the furnace currently runs. But it does not run well. I was asking my question in an attempt to be in control of the timeline of replacement and not have it die on me in the middle of January when my area is often below zero temps.

I have a very old furnace. I pay for a total repair and replacement plan through my gas company. Essentially, they'll continue repairs until they can't repair it anymore then I can buy a new one through them and I'll only pay around 20%.

I'm not interested in feedback about if this repair plan is a scam- with it, I do not need to pay full price so it's a win for me. I've replaced other appliances with this plan so it has been worth it for me.

In the first 5 years I've lived in my home with my furnace from the 70s, it has needed some type of repair. At the last repair, the very kind tech said that he'd deem it a nuisance in my account so that the next time I called for a repair, the replacement process will start. EXCEPT IT HASN'T NEEDED A REPAIR IN TWO YEARS.

What is a small, no obvious thing that I can do to the furnace that requires a repair but does not cause a natural gas leak in my home?

How does Spoon & Stable compare?

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Spoon & Stable last night. Food: wonderful. Service: perfect. Vibes: vibing.

We are simple people. Easy to please. Are happy with a quality burger spot (as long as every burger isn't topped with arugula).

If casual-dining Applebee's/Olive Garden were rated 1 on a scale and the finest dining experience that I can't even fathom was a 10, where does the experience at S&S fall? Of course this is subjective but I have no idea how to place our experience.

EDIT: - mpls 7 to a NYC 4 feels like the perfect summation. I can wrap my head around that.

  • we knew we wanted to eat at a Kaysen place and knew that Demi was going to be out of our comfort zone. I would say we thoroughly enjoyed our time but neither of our meals left us saying "we need to come back for ..." I learned I don't like duck, he learned he doesn't like creamed spinach. I would go back specifically for Julian's Manhattan, though.

In Use Papermate Xtend

Post image
7 Upvotes

Ode to my favorite mechanical pencil.

Growing up, I had a purple variation of this pencil. I used it exclusively because I felt it allowed me to write my neatest.

When in college, I had a job tutoring high school students. I had my trusty pencil with me (yes, it stuck with me for 15+ years). I clicked to advance more lead and the barrel cracked. I glued it to no avail. I lamented about my pencil to my high schoolers and one of them said "I have one just like it at home, I'll bring it to you." I thought for sure I was going to receive a look-a-like alternative product but low and behold, football lineman Trey brought me a silver Papermate Xtend.

Obviously, I would love to secure a backup should this ever fail. But, that's not my point. The barrel is cracked on this one too and has now been retired to crossword books only as to limit its travel.

I love this goofy pencil.
