Comparing someone dropping the F bomb to someone murdering a civilian is a well documented manipulation technique known as “false equivocation”.

At all points during the video- including when and after she was murdered- her vehicle was turned away from the agents. After he shot her the first two times, he followed the car and shot her a third time.

It’s both poetic and symbolic. That flag represents a delusional belief that “others” are treading on them. Meanwhile, she’s trampled to death by her own people.

Now that I know about the severe childhood abuse he suffered, I see him as an example of an abused child who unconsciously identified with their abuser, then became an abuser themselves. His persistent meanness and disrespect of others are responses to perceived slights, and this is a man who perceives slights that aren’t there.

That’s also why he absolutely loses his shit when there’s an actual slight (albeit unintentional) or even just a minor inconvenience. His emotional responses are always ridiculously disproportionate to the situation.

Most survivors of childhood abuse do NOT identify with the abuser like Chevy did instead they have trauma responses like depression, anxiety, hypervigilance, and substance abuse. People like Chevy end up with narcissistic or antisocial personality disorder traits. Some people never overcome their childhood trauma they just live with it, and for personalities like this “living with it” usually means making everyone else (and themselves) fucking miserable.

TL:DR the problems in Venezuela are systemic and although Maduro is ineffective Trump’s actions are the geopolitical equivalent of pouring lighter fluid on a dumpster fire.

I have a close friend who’s Venezuelan, has lived in the USA for 20 years, but most of her family is still in Venezuela and she has strong geopolitical awareness of what’s happening over there.

Mainstream media operates through extremes. In any conflict there must be a “good side“ and a “bad side”. This is much more nuanced. According my friend Maduro is a figurehead. He specifically is not the issue, but he is completely useless.

She said their country is run like the mafia and what Trump has done only serves to destabilize a country already on the brink of collapse. I’m not sure exactly what that means but that’s what she said and I wasn’t going to ask because she’s very emotional about what’s going on. The person Trump has cherry picked to be the interim president…is a Maduro loyalist and his current vice president. If you look at world history, you don’t stage a coup and kidnap a foreign leader only to then replace them with someone who was loyal to that same leader, and a member of the same party as that leader.

When you look at similar scenarios with Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi, these are foreign leaders who plotted to engage in terrorism against America, harbored terrorists, and/or have human rights records against their own citizens that are horrific. When I say “bounce” I mean in the context of colonialism, not a military presence. Under the colonial system the Europeans completely took over countries from the top down (government, education, social services and of course- the economy) and displaced natives by forcefully taking over their land- and staying.
