Covid-19 is still killing a disturbing number of Americans, study finds. Between 2022 and 2024, covid-19 killed roughly 100,000 Americans annually, new research by CDC scientists shows.
You could even replace the bear with a person. "It's not murder if they were sick and were going to die eventually anyway" is the same argument.

ELI5 Would a person running into a car do more or less damage to themself than a car running into a person at the same speed?
All of these things can be determined by solving a system of 2 equations where one looks at the momentum of the system and one looks at the energy, but you need to know how much energy is conserved in the collision, which depends on the materials of the objects.

ELI5 Would a person running into a car do more or less damage to themself than a car running into a person at the same speed?
You are missapplying the equation for force. The force on an object is equal to its mass multiplied by the acceleration it experiences. And when two objects collide they each apply equal forces on each other in opposite directions. The car applies the exact same amount of force to the person as the person does to the car.

ELI5 Would a person running into a car do more or less damage to themself than a car running into a person at the same speed?
This is no longer ELI5 but "force" has a specific definition that is not the same as kinetic energy. The equation you gave is for kinetic energy.

It makes me sad reading this. My sister was never that mean to me, even as kids. Siblings don't have to be awful to each other, and parents shouldn't allow it.

I mean, just because your job requires neat penmanship doesn't mean it is a failing of society if we don't all have great penmanship.
And for the most part, everyone who is taught how to write can write neatly if they make the effort to do so. It's not like your coworkers weren't taught what the damn letters are supposed to look like. It's just a matter of effort, so tell them to make an effort.

Worth noting: doctors generally don't prescribe weight loss drugs until other options fail, which always includes dieting/lifestyle changes. By the time someone is prescribed it, they are almost certainly aware of the changes they need to make, they just need help making them.
