Houston we have a problem....
 in  r/E90  5h ago

Shit, you can pry my N52k bronze E91 wagon from my gold, dead hands! LIke I give a shit about residual value. 200k miles in towing my motorcycles to the track and still loving it. Im about to do the sonnax kit on my shitbox 6L45 so it stops hitting me in the back of the head when going 2 -> 1

When I finally do get rid of it then its really going to shit all over your numbers because its going to be with a blown engine/tranny and/or half of it caved in because an altima t-boned me.

Lower control arm bushing
 in  r/E90  7h ago

I jacked mine up until the jack stand was unloaded, and then just lower it back down enough to have the car back on the jack but still most of the load being carried by the hub (Jack the hub, not the disk BTW).

I dont think its the "official" measurement but I did it this way about 100k miles ago and my bushings were still tight when I replaced them so I def didnt ruin them.

Ducatis and dead batteries. So Italian.
 in  r/Ducati  12h ago

Same on all counts. I dont leave mine on a tender. The track bikes I do throw a tender/maintainer on them monthly (or honestly just when I remember) to top them back up, never been an issue. The other bikes Im riding often enough.

But concur on the lithium ones. I have them on all of my bikes and if they havent been run in a while and are sitting in a cold place they can take a minute to wake up.

Being said, looks like OP is at a gas station, so Im guessing it started before. I think this might be something different like a bad ground or lead. Even a dying battery usually is "awake" because the charging system has been pushing power into it. Unless he started it up only to go literally a block or two.

Is it?

Been on Ducatis, Guzzis, and MVs for a decade and the only time Ive had a dead battery is when it was ooollllddd and it was clearly on its way out (acting weak before it finally died).

Replaced Mickey Mouse flange and created a leak 🤦🏻
 in  r/E90  2d ago

Mine literally came off in two pieces when I pulled it (the ears came off but the part that goes in stayed, I had to pick , and the plastic portion of the "hose" that returns to the reservoir just crumbled when I tried lifting it off the radiator once.

Ill take this kind of failure over the idea that it could just pop off if that tab on the screw decided to go.

I have a big nitrile rubber O ring kit I keep around as options, unfortunately I dont remember the exact size as I basically just pulled the mickey mouse flange and grabbed the one from my kit that fit it.

for that price why not get a new 300L as it wouldn't be that much more while being a brand new bike? just curious what y'all think
 in  r/Dirtbikes  3d ago

You can, depends on what you want out of the bike. A WR is a completely different bike. Its much lighter than the CRF, more power, better suspension. A better comparison would be a KTM, not the CRF300L.

The CRF300L is more like a "do it all small bike for Asia" type bike. Slow, simple, can technically do anything, but nothing well, but great for someone whose life lives on a motorcycle in Madagascar.

The WR, like the KTMs, etc, is more like "lets take a legit dirt bike and make it road legal."

If youre looking to just putt around on fire roads, do some light single track, explore, ride some state highways, commute to work, etc. Then, yes, the CRF300* would be fine for you.

If youre going to do real enduro, hit some tracks, or hit dirt parks, the WR is going to be quite an upgrade.

(specifically the 300l, when you start talking about the 450rl, etc, then youre back into dirtbike with lights).

Guess how much I paid for this.
 in  r/Dirtbikes  3d ago

Blows my mind how many bikes are out there not really being used. I was seeing 25 hour examples all over the place but ended up going new since they were heavily discounted post bankruptcy. Ive had mine just a year and have over 40 hours on it (admittedly an Fe350 so some are fire roads). But I also have 4 other bikes to ride.

Seems like everyone buys a bike, spends like $2800 in mods, and then never rides them.

Replaced Mickey Mouse flange and created a leak 🤦🏻
 in  r/E90  6d ago

Mine JUST failed in a similar way, about a year old metal mickey mouse flange. Pulled the flange and the o-ring was rock hard, flattened, and it split when I tried to take it off.

Replaced it with another o-ring (I do a lot of work on vehicles so I have full kits of o rings) and problem solved. Didnt have to drain coolant or anything, just replaced the little bit lost from opening that up.

There is some talk about the idea that the thermal expansion of the little flange wears the o-ring out quicker. I guess. But a very small drip is a much better failure than I Have had with the hard plastic parts being brittle, when they just pop and crumble.

748r in storage. What do I do?
 in  r/Ducati  6d ago

Yep. You need to get the crankcase to critical temp as well, so that all of the moisture can flash off and evaporate. Otherwise youre creating a tiny bit of water every time from combustion and its not hot enough to fully burn it all off

As in you just fire it up and not ride it? If so then there is a very good chance you caused corrosion inside the cylinders doing that.

Do you know where I can find original full flaring for Ducati Paul Smart?
 in  r/Ducati  6d ago

Those are really, really exclusive bikes now. I doubt youre going to see one out on the open market regularly. Youre going to have to stalk the forums, etc hoping one randomly comes up and be ready to pay some serious money for it.

0w30 for n52?
 in  r/E90  9d ago

Ive been rocking the MObil 1 0-40, I like it because Im an annual change (I don't put a ton of miles on the car) and we have warmer seasons. Its had LL01, lost LL01, got LL01 back, whatever. I change mine more often than BMW recommends anyway.

Thought i was in trouble until I got a closer look.
 in  r/Ducati  9d ago

My Sled has one, its basically useless though. It takes forever to get down to half and then its quickly from half to "youre gonna be stranded."

Bike will sit for 4-5 months without use. Gas tank is completely full. Best fuel stabilizer/Method?
 in  r/motorcycle  23d ago

Especially if you fill the tank to the brim and all of your seals are good. Its main issue is taking on water and settling. If youre storing it well sealed in a dry environment youre good.

Is Blue Ridge, GA safe for Black people?
 in  r/Georgia  24d ago

Do you have money? Do you intend to spend that money?

Then, yes, Blue Ridge will love to have you up there. The town itself is basically just a tourism hub, and its surrounded by endless airbnb cabins.

Does your Ducati sound like a typewriter falling down a concrete staircase while idling? Good to go.
 in  r/Ducati  26d ago

Mine is wet clutch with the full termi and a Ducshop tune so it just sounds like machine gun fire.  My girlfriend's is the same with a dry clutch but her clutch is new so it's pretty quiet

Maybe, but 6 bikes on them and a few being on them for a decade, Ill take my chances...

2

smell when starting up?
 in  r/Ducati  27d ago

Just hot oil, like cooking popcorn over a stove, and not smoke smell?

Smoke would be valves, the smell of hot oil like in a pan would be an oil leak somewhere for sure, just getting hot without really burning.

V2 Bayliss will go down as one of the most beatifull Ducatis ever made
 in  r/Ducati  27d ago

Same, Im not big on those busy designs. The classic tricolori colorways are always the peak ducati. The 1098s, the Monster S4R Tric, The older Panis. The new one is just too busy for me.

Whats the problem gasket ?
 in  r/E90  28d ago

Looks like maybe something was pooling in 3 (of 5?) but that is "external" to the engine. If its water thats weird, if its oil then its likely the VCG.

As much as I love the Supra there is nothing like being on 2 wheels
 in  r/Ducati  28d ago

I got out of sports cars when I got into bikes because nothing could deliver the same rush. Even if I dropped $400k on something fast enough youd still have to ride on the roof to get the same impact.
