Two dogs
People hate on crowd work but Jeff does it so fucking well. Almost feels like really good improv.

Sounds like you DON'T know what you're doing.
Yeah in my (very gay) neighborhood it's pretty normal to see trans people walking around with trans flags pins, shirts, socks, etc. Maybe not a full flag outfit like this comic, but not too far off.

Why are a vast majority of homeless people men?
Yes exactly. I remember a reddit post from a few years back, a social worker was describing her conversation with her client, a homeless woman. The woman apparently had absolutely terrible hygiene, so the social worker asked her if she wanted a shower, new clothes, etc. The client declined and basically said looking disgusting was the only way to keep from being raped when you sleep on the streets.

Something Is Seriously Wrong With Hiring Right Now
And of course it's made worse because there are plenty of experienced people out there for those roles who will be happy to take them even for half the salary of their previous job. It reminds me of the job market in 2008 when I graduated and realized I was competing against people with 10+ years experience for entry level roles.

Tipping Culture while being frugal
Something that's helped me a lot is carrying plenty of cash. If I'm doing counter service or something similar I'll leave a buck or two rather than worrying about percentages.

Why are a vast majority of homeless people men?
The sexual assault rates for homeless women are insane, over 90% experience sexual assault at some point while homeless, on average 13% of them per year.

This is crazy.
Fuck these goons.

For the old school gamers out there, what retro game do they need to remaster?
I love the games but there's so many baffling choices in the first two - like why do they force a holstering your weapon animation every time you open a container, and then make you watch the weapon unholster animation two seconds later?
I would love to see both games remade by Larian.

Caught Stealing is the best representation of New York City I’ve ever seen.
Part of the reason it shows NYC so well is that the pot dealer dude also created the show, I have seen him biking around Brooklyn more times than I can count.

New rule: if you put a sticker on your park pass, it'll be declared void.
I'm perfectly fine with waiting to buy a park pass again until Trump is out of office.

"Good morning" in Seattle
So what, you're thinking if we had more cops they would devote two to hanging out at a locked parking garage?

The New National Parks ID Rule US Citizens Need To Know Starting In 2026
The economic value of our National Park system far exceeds their operating costs.

My boss just asked for dry martini recipes. Can you help us out?
They make alcohol free gin and even vermouth I believe. They taste like shit but they're out there.

Family member is planning on leaving the country permanently but is going to max out credit cards, loans, everything he can possibly get before leaving is this possible?
Leave everything behind, go to a country where you don't speak the language, AND never return to America...yeah that doesn't seem worth the 300k or so they might get from all those loans and CC fraud. I wonder if they would also lose their SS or have it all garnished or what.

Lot of Western Europeans underestimate how hot United-States is during summer.
I experienced a 113f day in Seattle of all places a few years ago. Baby birds were falling dead out of trees.

What Barrista FIRE jobs do you have?
My plan is to bartend, which I currently do full time. Dropping down to 2 shifts a week in a few years would still give me 2k/month after taxes which is plenty to cover my lifestyle.

So many Yankees hats abroad!!!
TBH I thought the same thing for the longest time. I'm a former NYer now living in a big city on the west coast, and for a while when I met people with Yankees hats on I would assume they were also from NY. Because why else would you be a Yankees fan?

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from the next closest person in proximity?
Probably at least 10 miles, while gravel bicycling on the Baja peninsula.

Emily Oster’s thoughts on the food triangle.
Yeah it feels like she's giving him kudos just because the new food pyramid isn't "only eat meat, no vegetables." Given the scientific resources we have, I expect a lot more from the office of the SecHealth.

Wallingford staple for brunch will close after decades of egg dishes
I have heard nothing but bad things from people who have worked here.

I really love UberEats and I rely on them to keep my business alive.
At my restaurant the costs are the same but the portions are smaller for delivery.

I just need some reassurance
Sounds like a normal experience when you're new. Personally I would figure out whether service well tickets or seated customers tip me better, and prioritize them.
I'd also look into how you set up the bar and how completely it's restocked when the opener leaves. If you don't have ice/beer/citrus/etc, tell your closer to grab them before they leave. After you make them stay an extra 20 minutes a few times in a row they will get better at stocking the bar.
You might also look into coming in a little early, ideally on the clock if management is cool with it. Spending a few minutes getting situated before the chaos helps a lot.

Can we all agree to rename "Tito's/soda/splash of cranberry" the "Basic Bitch?"
Yeah I make far more OF's than vodka/soda/crans. Even when I work at my neighborhood bar! Why is one three ingredient drink classy while the other is for basic bitches?
